Working on the finishing touches with our team. This past week has been challenging but we've all accomplished a lot. This NASA NCAS program has tested us to see how we handle ourselves while balancing group dynamics, mission restrictions, and priority deadlines for a simulated lunar mission. I’m sure this is barely a taste of what a real-world NASA project might be like but I would absolutely recommend the NCAS program to anyone who might be interested. I appreciate my group and all of the wonderful NASA employees that we've been able to network with. This week has been very rewarding working alongside my crew members. This is mission 2 of the NASA Community College Aerospace Scholars Program. First I want to acknowledge Kalon Williams for his contribution managing our budget and doing mechanical engineering research to help us select the correct instruments for our mission to Mars. Meet our Systems Engineer !!! MICHEAL ANUGULO His experience: I would describe my experience of NCAS Mission 2 to a friend as being similar to playing a Space RPG. The goal is to get as much science back as possible while managing mass, budget, and power supply. What makes it really interesting is having to work with other team members to make it all possible. I find that if you play off of each other's strengths and lend a hand whenever you feel you can provide value, it makes for great results. I came to NCAS because I am interested in a career in systems engineering where I can be part of the design, development, and implementation of operating systems. I have been part of a variety of hands-on projects such as website development, automotive electrical systems integration, and Arduino multi-sensor projects. This coming summer I will be interning at NIWC Pacific as part of their internship program. As I am just getting started, I want to continue learning and absorbing as much knowledge in the world of computation. I’m currently studying at Mt. San Jacinto College, and I came to NCAS because I am interested in a career in the computer engineering field. I have been involved in my school’s Computer Science Club, where we engaged in discussions on computing, technology, and programming theory. I’ve also been involved with the robotics club, where we participated in the VEX robotics tournaments. The thought of joining NCAS was natural for me, as I am also deeply drawn to environmental engineering, and NASA goals for a more sustainable earth align with mine. I have been involved in my college’s STEM Club and am soon volunteering as a mentor in Stanford’s online intro to computer science course. My Journey started in the Air Force as a Nuclear Weapons Specialist, where I developed a strong foundation in technical problem-solving and project management. I later explored healthcare as a nursing student but it was a space-related class that ignited my passion for Aerospace Engineering. I’m currently doing NCAS to further my education and develop an understanding of all that NASA does and to learn more about that industry. I’m also actively seeking a chemical research internship to broaden my knowledge and skills. Meet Stacy Daigle! Her role(s) for Gemini Gold are Budget Officer, and Mission Schedule Analyst. She is currently attending Wor Wic Community College on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Her goal is to transfer to UMES and Major in AeroSpace Engineering. She is also a huge fan of the ocean. She loves watersports such as paddle boarding and sailing. She adores art and science, using her hands to build and mind to create! She also likes stargazing 🔭 as it is a great way to pass the time. Stacy is also a certified FLIR thermographer, and L’Space alumni.
