🌧️보슬보슬 이슬비 맞으며 7시도 되기 전부터 골프를 쳤어요. 화씨 51도의 써늘한 Morro Bay에서요. 100년도 더 된 골프장이라 해요. 고목들과 자리 잡힌 숲으로 참 편안하고 포근하게 느껴지는 곳이예요. 어린 나무들도 많이 있구요.   골프 여행 두번째 날이었어요. 
 어제의 프랙티스, 센터링 & 늑골로 스윙하기를 이어서 하고, 한 가지 더 더했어요. 손목의 움직임을 명확하게 하는데 주의 기울이기.   그리고 또 한가지 더했어요. 
다리로 돕기. 회전과 동시에 무릎을 명확하게 앞으로 구부리는 것이요.   조금 더 파워가 실리기 시작했어요.   2024년이 되고 벌써 5월이 되었는데, 그동안 골프는 많이 치지 못했어요. 
1월에는 스키 탄다고 2월부터 5월 초까지는 한국에서 휄든® 교육하느라..   5월에 돌아와서 서방님과 샌디에고에서 골프를 두 번 나갔었는데, 괜찮게 쳐 졌어요. 
서방님 왈 ‘저 모르게 레슨 받으시나요?’   그리고 오늘은 그러시더군요. 그 자신감이 어디에서 생긴거냐고.. 😊   골프를 많이 치지는 못했지만, 골프에 필요한 몸의 움직임은 충분히 했나봐요. 제자교육 하면서요. 그리고 또 한가지 변화는 도구에 있어요. 골프채 세트를 바꾸었어요. 해드의 무게가 좀 더 잘 느껴지는 골프채 들이예요. 그래서 저의 몸을 채의 연장선으로 느끼기가 더 쉬워진 것인지, 거리도 늘었어요. 얼마 전까지만도 7번으로는 85 야드, 9번은 70 정도였는데, 이제는 7번으로 100야드를 넘어 가기도 하고, 9번으로 80이 넘게 가고.. 피칭, 우드, 드라이버 다 더 가고 있어요. 그리고 안정적이 되어가고 있어요. 🙏 뭐 아직도 갈 길이 멀죠. Morro Bay Ironman 70.3 … did it mate✅ Sappy caption incoming This was mentally one of the hardest things I’ve done in my life. Never did I think I would be able to swim 1.2 miles, bike 56 miles, and run a half marathon all in a row. But here we are, 7:41:41 hours later, I am able to say I completed an Ironman 70.3 This all started when one of my best friends little sister, (SHOUTOUT @jane_hotaling ) did this half Ironman last year and went to prom that same night, all while she was too young to even compete. I thought this was the coolest thing in the world, and why someone would ever put themselves through that. All of a sudden I found myself with my best friend and my boyfriend ironmanning up from the couch and committing to doing it the next year. During training I had so many doubts, from not being able to run 3 miles without stopping, to not owning a pair of goggles and a swim cap. Throughout the past 8 months, I heavily debated signing up until 3 weeks before the race, luckily I had some amazing people to train with and encourage me throughout the whole process. If you know me, especially when it came to fitness tests and training, I always struggled with comparing myself to the person next to me and thought I would never add up to anything fitness wise. To now have finished my first half Ironman, I can say that everything I ever thought about myself is SO WRONG! I shouldn’t confine myself to the fact that I got plus 2 minutes on a fitness test, I shouldn’t look down on myself because I have to walk my bike up a hill, I shouldn’t be embarrassed because I look ridiculous in a swim cap! My body is so able to do so many things, and I FREAKING did a half Ironman! Thank you to all who believed in me and instilled a confidence to do anything I put my mind to. Ironman Morro Bay 70.3 Race Recap! SWIM - I knew I was undertrained for the swim this year. Some weeks my schedule just made it tough to get to the pool. But I was good enough to cover 1.2 miles. I was most worried about the cold water and the fact that I had never tried a salt water OWS (big race day no-no). My expectations were low, but I NEVER planned on swimming an ocean treadmill for half of the race! Everything was great until about 1,000 meters in. Then everything turned into chaos. I was much more concerned with avoiding panicky swimmers than reaching the next buoy. That cost me over 20 minutes, but at that point everyone was in survival mode. I was so happy to reach that floating dock but man, my legs were useless for a couple minutes after cramping in the water. I got the feeling back in my feet and calves by the time I got to T1. I also realized how AWFUL salt water chafing is with a wetsuit. BIKE - I sincerely considered calling it a day before I got on the bike. I was cold, my neck had been rubbed raw by my wetsuit and I was mentally beaten down after a frustrating swim. But I layered up and decided to just ride to the first bike aid station about 15 miles in. By that point, I was dry, warm and the legs were starting to feel good. Not to mention, the route was really pretty. The rest of the out and back course flew by. I gained back my 20 minutes lost in the swim. RUN - Getting to T2 is the best feeling and worst feeling sometimes. At that point, you only have to run. But you have to run a half marathon LOL. Throughout training I had been running really well off the bike. Happy to have that happen on race day too! The first mile from Morro Rock to town was pretty lonely. But once we hit the town itself, the streets were lined with crowds of supportive strangers. It was awesome. Being a 2-loop course, there were also lots of runners for company. It was a boost to see my husband with his camera plus my @coeursports teammates on the course. I crossed the finish line feeling amazing.
