I am not, by nature, a patient person… But thanks to traveling, I have become a lot more patient than I used to be. Traveling has taught me many skills, but one of the best and most useful ones is that of patience. #learningtowait Waiting patiently is not a skill that most people have, but there is a lot of waiting involved when you travel. You can either get impatient or get used to it. #languagebarrier Dealing with people in other languages — whether you are trying to speak their language or they’re trying to use yours — is often not an easy thing to do. Patience is required for effective communication. #enjoytheboredom Journeys are often long when travelling. And there’s often unaccounted time for breakdowns, landslides or chai stops (specific to Pakistan!) When you’re “trapped”, so to speak, on a long flight, train or bus ride, you gradually learn the patience to appreciate and enjoy this time. #cultureclash If, like me, you come from a culture where many people believe that “time is money” and when service takes a long time, people become irritated, you will probably find yourself feeling impatient in some other cultures. There are many places around the world where the “time is money” philosophy is not at all how the locals think and act — here, patience reigns supreme! #travelteaches

I can’t see the trees for the forest Drowning feels the same whether Its In the pool or the ocean Rain clouds… Seems like they’re never not pouring The waters keep rising And I can’t take no more of it I take shelter in the cave But the darkness brings no light, So I’m tripping, colliding with Brick walls, I can’t see what's in sight The cave, it holds me back But the rain ain’t letting up I don’t know what else to do This constant state of being stuck If you never been through this before You might not comprehend this So please hold your tongue Criticisms and opinions I step outside the boat Swag surfin on warring waves Isolation for elevation The more I walked the more the pain But the isolation feels like abandonment… I never would’ve thought Depression was The side effect of Development… - #TiaunaYoung #SideEffect #Poetry #LongSuffering #LearningToWait #itsokaytonotbeokay

In the race for quality, patience wins every time. #SlowAndSteady 🕰✨ In the hustle of modern life, it's easy to overlook the value of patience. Understanding that not everything can be rushed is crucial. Setting realistic expectations and allowing space for ourselves and others to meet them is key. When impatience creeps in, try taking a slow, deep breath. Remember, the best things unfold in their own time. Embracing patience reduces stress and helps us cherish the journey, rather than just aiming for the end goal. #PatienceIsAVirtue #MindfulnessMatters #EnjoyTheJourney #EmbraceTheProcess #GoodThingsTakeTime #StressFreeLiving #AppreciateTheMoment #RealisticExpectations #GiveYourselfGrace #BreatheInPatience #LifeLessonsLearned #CultivatingPatience #PatiencePaysOff #QualityOverQuantity #PatienceIsKey #MindfulMoments #GrowthMindset #SelfImprovementJourney #NoRushLife #TakeItSlow #PatienceAndPersistence #LiveAuthentically #MindfulLiving #InnerPeace #LifeIsAJourney #BePatientWithYourself #LearningToWait #TheArtOfPatience #SlowLivingMovement

Heyyyy Guys!!!! Happy Tuesday!!! Are you in a season of waiting for something that the Father has promised you and you’re getting a little tired on your waiting journey? Waiting can sometimes be hard, it’s definitely not anything we always patiently do. In my time with the Father He dropped this in my spirit and I wanted to share. No matter where you are in your season of waiting, learning how to wait and what to do while waiting matters. I know sometimes we think He’s forgotten us because we’re still waiting especially when He’s promised you a thing. But I love the Bible and tells me in Eecclesiastics that there is an appointed time for everything! That means your time is coming and nothing or no one can stop that. Find yourself learning (as David said in Psalms) to wait on the Lord. Find yourself being busy doing what He’s called you to do while you’re waiting and watch Him fulfill every promise attached to you. Ask yourself, how are you waiting? #LearningToWait #Patiently #AppointedTime #MyFatherHasAPlan #TrustHim #LifeCoach #IAmSharonTillman

Something in me is itching to step toward the next big project, or to at least know what it might be. But something else in me is hesitant, pumping the brakes, nudging me to pause and to assess first where things are now. I am learning to see these periods of restlessness — these times between the questions and the answers — as preparatory. Looking back, we can often see that the wrestling we did when we weren’t sure what to do next somehow helped prepare us for it. But this period of restlessness seems to have another element to it, an invitation to not only pause but to also prune... Find the full post at whitneykpipkin.substack.com or at the link in my stories. I found this on someone's status and it reminded me of a time last month. Around early January, when everything God spoke to me was really working out slow. I received those words strongly so I expected them to be fast and easy but omoor, it gave me emotional downtime. Eventually, I gave it up and only prayed waiting on God to bring it to pass when it's his time. Some of them have come to pass now, some are still happening and some are yet to see the light of day but I'm now learning to be really patient with life and with fulfilment. It will come, but it will take time. It will take time and it will come in time. I have learnt that it's never too late, it never comes late. It just comes at it's own time. In the matter of the heart, God's still helping me to learn and calm down but I'm much better at it now than before. #trustgodstiming #patienceiskey #embracethejourney #faithoverfear #divinetiming #hopeingod #emotionalgrowth #staypatient #godsplan #heartlessons #timeheals #faithjourney #learningtowait #godstimingisperfect #keepthefaith

Our second jump lesson at Black Brow with Niki @kickondotcom and what a lesson! 😁 The idea was to work on rideability, lead changes over a fence and being able to jump on different strides… Ramboghini mode activated when we went onto the snaffle 🫣 but bless this boy 💕 we worked on him not zooming off and eventually he grasped the idea that he has to wait for Mum 😆 a challenge for both of us but I bloody love a challenge and that’s where you learn the most 👍🏻 So proud of him 🥰 #jumpinghorses #showjumping #relearning #reschoolinghorses #learningtowait #rideability #jumpingrambo #ramboghini #speedfreak #irishcob #cobscanjump #thiscobcan #jumplesson

Waiting is a hard thing for little humans to do, but for some littles, especially those with autism or developmental disabilities, being told to wait can result in a total meltdown.  Sometimes, a child must wait, even when the answer is yes. Your child asks for pancakes, you say yes, but then you have to make the pancakes, your child has a meltdown. Your child wants their tablet, you say yes, but it needs to charge, meltdown begin…. There are multiple reasons for this. One reason is that the words “wait”, “in a minute”, “after …”, “later”, etc. are vague concepts.  Your autistic child may not recognize that the answer was yes. As with all of my behavior recommendations, there is a 3 pronged approach that needs to be implemented simultaneously: Prevent - Respond -Teach  PREVENT: If being told to wait or another ambiguous response is a trigger for a meltdown, while you are teaching this skill, you want to do whatever you can do to avoid having to say wait. Remember that the more the fight or flight response is triggered, the stronger it gets. This means as time goes by, behaviors get worse and worse. Keep a journal and track the specific triggers (beyond just the word “wait” or “in a minute”). Then do what you can to avoid having your child have to wait. If waiting for pancakes to cook causes a meltdown, have some prepared and ready to go, even if that means your child has a frozen pancake on his plate. Say “yes” and then have your child get plate, cup, fork, syrup, etc.  RESPOND: This is the Reactive Response or what you need to do in the moment when it is not possible to prev. If your child has a meltdown because they had to wait. Align and Empathize – Remember that when your child has a meltdown there,is little that can be done to dissipate the fight or flight neurotransmitters. A meltdown is not the time to explain that you are saying yes,  that they have to wait, etc. Now is the time to keep your little safe, let them know you understand, help them use whatever behavioral regulation strategies they have. TEACH: Teaching the replacement behavior (in this case to wait) is ABSOLUTELY the most important step.  (continued in Comments)

Lessons in Restraint Here we are, sitting by a river in a Peak District town, eating chips 😊Even though there are many distractions around such as ducks, geese, children and wafting leaves, the dogs have decided that the chips take priority. As I looked at this picture the phrase “lessons in restraint” came to me. The dogs are finally learning that if they wait patiently, they are more likely to get a reward. If they jump at the chips and try and grab one, the reward will not come. Patience, waiting and restraint are worth it! Now as I look around me it feels like restraint is rarely valued. We live in a quick fix, have it now culture. A culture where if we want it and can imagine it we can have it. Goods are disposable, everything is available 24 hours a day, “I deserve it” has become a normal phrase to use. And on a bigger scale, how does that apply to communities and nations? Is standing back and waiting, restraining our urges, really seen as commendable. Now, there is a time for a treat (we had chips!) and a time to step in or believe positively. But there is also a time to step back and wait. A rightness in letting time pass without intervention. It is easy to apply this to others, and on a big scale, but not to myself. I am limited what I can do at the moment, and so have a perfect opportunity to ponder patience and restraint for me. What do I really need? (not as much as I think!) What am I actually responsible for? (me and my responses) What can I control? (me and my responses!) We start with ourselves-and if we all did that how much would change for the better. Wise King Solomon said this Proverb “Better a patient person than a warrior, one with self-control than one who takes a city.” #selfcontrol #patience #restraint #learningtowait #startwithme

Lots of our Vista learners practice waiting for attention or items. In this case, C's BI was busy doing some work so C had to wait for his BI's attention. C now waits up to 5 minutes for attention and C is so good at choosing something else to do while waiting. This time, C chose to draw a picture on the whiteboard while waiting. The Waiting Game I've started to realize waiting is an art, that waiting achieves things...If you can wait two years, you can sometimes achieve something that you could not achieve today... Dennis Wholey Humans are not fond of waiting. We want what we want NOW. Like a toddler who makes demands, we don't want to play the waiting game. Patience truly is a virtue that must be cultivated over time, but becomes harder to do as we grow older. By learning to wait, we can often get what we want and sometimes, something better. I often get caught up in the heat of the moment, the rush of adrenaline and excitement of thinking about the future, so much so that I squelch the opportunities before me. I'm left feeling empty and disappointed for not getting what I wanted. As I age, I am learning that it's true: all good things will come in their own sweet time, not mine. The more I attempt to rush things, the less likely I am to get them. The message? Don't limit yourself by putting pressure on things and matters that need time. Like aged cheese or a fine wine, what is best for us often involves waiting for things to ripen or evolve to a point that will best serve us. Be willing to wait. Be patient as you wait. Be grateful for what you get. #thewaitinggame #denniswholey #thewaitinggame #wewantwhatwewantwhenwewantit #patienceisavirtue #learningtowait #caughtupintheheatofthemoment #rushofadrenaline #excitement #missedopportunities #empty #disappointed #allgoodthingswillcomeintheirowntime #dontlimityourself #whatbestservesus #bewillingtowait #bepatientasyouwait #begratefulforwhatyouget #inspirationalwriting #inspirationalwriter #naturephotography #naturephotographer #vernonrailstotrails #vernonct #connecticut #newengland #newenglandinfall #autumnvibes #michelegara

Remember when I introduced Patrick Picklebottom? Here's another book about this book-loving character. I love this story because it paints a picture of an impatient little boy who learns how to wait--by using his imagination! From singing songs--even 80's hits, to drawing a whole new world, Patrick learns to pass the time patiently. I love the creativity of the way Patrick passes the time, and I can see this being a great discussion with students of the importance of being patient. Sometimes we get to skip and dance along the level paths of life...flowers frolicking on both sides...doing all the things we enjoy most (like traveling to spend time with my two daughters and the youngest two grandbabies this week, and then helping my sister for another week)... And sometimes life's road hits bumps and twists and turns and God gets our attention in the quiet and the more helpless moments. I'm enjoying watching my sweet daughter take on the role of generous giving to family and I'm learning to accept from a gracious Father's hand the words, "not right now." They are still loving, and for my good, but not nearly as sparkly or fun... Maybe that's why He's allowed the majestic bald eagle to just soar and hover over our spot most of today... #learningtowait #renewingstrength

Taking turns can be a really hard skill to learn as little ones develop socially and emotionally. It may be the first time a child has had to share anything at all. It requires patience, as they wait for their turn to use an instrument, play with a puppet or answer a question. Turn-taking is all around us as adults and a very important life-skill. We love watching little ones get used to the structure of our sessions at Caterpillar Music and grow in confidence as they begin to understand that their turn will come. #turntaking #interacting #socialskills #learningpatience #learningturntaking #takingturns #waiting #lifeskills #sharing #caterpillarmusic #toddlerlife #resilience #musicclass #babyclasses #toddlerclasses #sharingtoys #learningpatience #learningtowait

Full of strategies for kids and a big lesson for us caregivers. Sometimes we just want to be heard not taught, not helped, not fixed... ✔️Perfect for helping kids to work through the cycle of emotion when things go wrong. If I could take all the time spent in waiting rooms since my daughter was born and add them together, I'm pretty sure it would equal a signicant amount of life. In these waiting spaces I sit for Doctor visits, weekly therapy sessions (PT, OT, Speech), teacher and IEP meetings, etc. . Sometimes I come prepared with things to do, things that can be easily interrupted - magazines, books, to do lists. Sometimes I sit there in thoughts of worry or hope ... or just wasting time. . This particular definition hit me, the reality being, I'm "allowing" the waiting. There is a surrender happening on the surface but also in the depths of me and her - a molding of our will to acceptance. But also, a strategy developed - learning how to wait or anticipate in healthy expectation and recognize when it is time for us to step up and do something. . I suppose then there is an art to waiting. #specialneedsparent #childadvocate #differentlyabled #specialneedsmom #waiting #learningtowait #wait #waitforit #patience #waitingroom #waitingrooms #therapy #teachchildrenwell #teachchildren

Waiting is very hard. Waiting will test us, our character and even our faith. We are so used to anything instant that even just the idea of waiting may put a cringe on anyone who hears it. Yet, God teaches us to wait patiently on Him. Friends of mine told me that one of the lessons they are teaching their son: is learning to wait when he has a question. She said: My husband and I will be in a conversation, and he will walk up, interrupt us, and ask a question. We will tell him we will answer when we are done talking, but that’s often difficult for him when he has a question. I’m teaching him to walk up and just put his hand on mine when he has a question. I told him that when he does that, I’ll acknowledge him and then answer him when I can. I wish I could say that works all the time, but it doesn’t. It’s as hard for him to wait for an answer as it is for us as adults to wait for one. When we have a pressing need or question, we’ll bombard God with questions and demand an answer immediately. We call it faith when we pray that way, but I wonder what God calls it. One of the hardest lessons any one of us has to learn is how to approach God and to ask for what it is that we want or need, especially when we feel we need it urgently. They say that patience is a virtue, but we often lack it in waiting for God to answer our prayers. In Psalm 69:13, David prayed a tough, but wise prayer. He said, “But as for me, I will pray to you, Lord; answer me, God, at a time you choose” (GNT). He was telling God that he wasn’t expecting Him to operate on his timetable. He was willing to wait for God to answer on His. That’s a hard thing to pray and to do. This verse challenges me because I’m not there yet. In my prayers, I’m like my friends son trying to get an answer. I don’t want to wait for God to finish what He’s doing. I want my answers right now. If David was a man after God’s own heart, and he had the ability to pray this way, I believe it’s something we all can learn to do. Instead of trying to force God to use our timeline, we can start asking God to give us the answers to our prayers in His. I’ll just need a little help learning to wait. #devotional #motivational #learningtowait Copied

Great job waiting, C!! One of C's programs is waiting for BI attention. For the kiddos that have one of these programs, waiting for attention from an adult can be very difficult. When C first started this program, tolerating waiting for 30 seconds was difficult but C is now up to 3 minutes and 45 seconds! C has been learning how to find new activities to do, such as playing with one of our sandboxes, while waiting for his BI's attention. C has been doing so well with this program! #VistaAcademyKelowna. #StudentSpotlight #Neurodiversity #NeurodiverseEducation #ProbabilityToAbility #LearningSupport #LearningCentre #EducationIsPower #ChangingLives #AutismAwareness #KelownaAutism #autismbc #WaitingProgram #LearningtoWait #KineticSand

Waiting is a hard thing. Whether you're in a doctor's office, waiting for your meal on a very hungry belly, etc., waiting is not an easy task. . . Especially when God reveals to you an opportunity for obedience. Often times, after our 'yes', there is a moment of waiting for the next thing God has. This is another opportunity that we often times miss. An opportunity for what? An opportunity to rest. An opportunity to pray and seek to know God more. An opportunity to serve others. But we don't want to just have peace in our waiting simply because we know God has something else lined up. . . We want to have peace because He satisfies us in the moments of waiting. And that is an opportunity to trust God. So . . .just wait. . . . . #WaitOnGod #WaitingOnGod #JustWait #TheologySisters #SistersAfterChrist #PrayingSisters #PrayingMomma #PrayingWife #GodWillSustainYou #GodSustains #HolySpirit #Jesus #GodIsGood #LearningToWait #TrustInHim #SeekHim #ServeHim #ServeOthers #ChristianBlogger

We have footers!!! So this is literally and figuratively ground breaking for us-and I want to document all of it so we don’t forget the struggle and milestones of a very long journey! 3 years ago this week, we sold our house where we’d raised our girls in the subdivision. Our lives were getting ready to change in ways we’d never imagined. My mom was passing from cancer, the world was on the verge of a global pandemic (Nurse here!) and we would start the difficult process of downsizing, relocating and GC-ing a build on our dream property in the middle of unforeseen inflation, labor and material shortages. We’re still here, trusting the process and His timing. So looking forward to the next chapter, making memories in this little house in the woods with our family. Feel free to follow along on our path to Shagbark Wood. 🙏❤️ #groundbreaking #Godstiming #learningtowait #trusttheprocess #shagbarkwood_farmhouse #newhomebuild #GratefulThankfulBlessed2023

Never cut a tree down in the wintertime. Never make a negative decision in the low time. Never make your most important decisions when you are in your worst moods. Wait. Be patient. Learning to wait is a lifelong skill that starts in toddlerhood. In ELP’s social communication play groups we practice a lot of waiting and narrate how waiting can feel hard at times. We wait for our friends to put their shoes on to go outside and even sing songs about waiting while we wait 😊 Waiting for turns with bubbles creates so many opportunities for communication, navigating turn taking, and building the capacity to wait (supporting regulation and patience) all at once. #socialcommunication #toddlerplay #earlyintervention #learningtowait #speechies #earlyinterventionspeech Target words: my turn, bubbles, blow, dip, in/out, spill, oops, more, waiting

"ADAM... Pull the plug!!!" One of C's programs focuses on learning to wait his turn with his preferred items. After waiting for his bi to finish up their turn, C is now taking his turn reading one of his favourite Robert Munsch books, "Down the Drain." Like with everything in life, we mustn’t be discouraged with what is offered. Things have a way of changing around. The secret is more learning to wait than having patience. We woke up to a rainy and windy morning. Decided to relax at home keeping our minds from dwelling on the weather. Waited a while and were rewarded with a break in the clouds and a watery sun, so we went to the beach!! Had a dip in the sea and walking along the shore I discovered these coral stones. They fit perfectly well, balanced in harmony. Came home renewed!! . . . #rainyday #thingschange #waitingtime #dontgetdiscouraged #walkonthebeach #waterysun #discoveryourbalance #learningtowait #patienceisnotmyvirtue #balanceiskey # #shotoniphone13mini

🌱So I’ve been in a creative slump for a while. It’s the reason why you haven’t seen me writing for here (or on the blog) even on the days I wanted to. 🌱Wasn’t reading, illustrating, writing, taking photos or doing anything creative. Excuses just kept coming up. It doesn’t also help that winter comes with a certain depressing gloom.Maybe I was also experiencing winter in my soul as well❄️ 🌱There were days when I was too emotionally drained to write, and there were days when I’d have so many things to say yet I was unable to say them. There are days when it feels like so many things are happening at once and I’m just unable to keep up so I’d rather just be still instead. 🌱On days like this I just hum or sing, hoping the melodies will remind my body who dwells inside and that the HolySpirit is breathing inside me. Singing reminds me there’s still hope even when the external feels contradictory, even when I feel I have nothing but I know I have everything because Jesus is there. 🌱And He stays validating me because I’m constantly learning to remember why I exist in the first place. To please Him. 🌱Am I doing it well? I believe grace will tell my story in time. And I’m so glad I have a helper who isn’t giving up on me yet, even on the days I feel like giving up on myself. What a phase! It’s good to be back❤️Thanks for sticking around🤗 #growingspiritually #christianwriters #creativeslump #livingslowly #learningtowait #winterish #jesusisstilllord

This week I was very eager to get back in the studio as I have been pining, and yearning to paint so much while the studio roof was being renovated. The studio looked so cold and lonely without anything going on in there! Life got in the way with family needs last week but I was counting down the days to get in there starting this weekend. Then a few days ago I sold a painting, and when my husband went into the studio to get cardboard for shipping, he found the roof was leaking profoundly and there were several puddles of water. One more day of us not being in there and several of my works would have been soaking. Thankfully I’ve found a warm dry place to store the works temporarily. I want to paint so profoundly but alas it will have to be a lesson in acknowledging my longing while practicing patience. Thanks to those of you who are still supporting me and my work while I don’t have a space and so have less new art to talk about. I know that big and beautiful things await when I can finally get my hands on some paints again 🎨 ❤️ . . . . . . . . #emergingartist #detailshot #neutralcolors #heartfeltcreations #heartandsoul #artisticprocess #learningtowait #waitingisnoteasy #oilpainting #waterleaks #canadianartist
