The same yesterday, today, forever - a solid rock, an unwavering foundation to build your faith on - that is Jesus Christ. Society is constantly shifting, things that were ok one year are not the next, things that were unheard of one minute are being pushed into law the next, fashions change, fads change, media shifts, minds shift, people follow, opinions shift, the world around you seems to be drifting, swirling around, turning in on its old self and morphing into something else again and again. As society drifts this way and that, and people find new things to fill voids in their lives, it’s relieving and refreshing to know that God has not changed. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, forever. God the Father and Jesus God the Son are as one and the Holy Spirit with you will reveal truth, God’s truth, to you. You can rely on their unchanging, unwavering love, they will never change their mind and leave you. You can Trust God with your soul, your self, and trust His ways are good. He leads you on a level path, in righteous ways. He has plans to build you up, plans for your good, plans to give you a hope and a future. So lay your burdens down, God will fight your battles for you if you let Him. He will be your place of refuge, He will shield you, comfort you, carry your burdens, give you rest, renew your heart and mind and make you new. Anybody else feeling a little whiplash from the enormous amount of pivoting we've done in the last couple of years? As a ministry family, we have walked through our fair share of change. It is always exciting to follow Jesus where He leads you but it isn't easy or without pain. Several years ago, we uprooted our family and moved from north Alabama to central Texas. It was 100% what God led us to but it hurt. People will change and move on, but Jesus never will, He will always stay the same. People will disappoint you, but Jesus won't, he will always be caring, loving,and forgiving. People will their back against you, but Jesus never will. I know it may seem like there's sins that you've done that Jesus can't forgive, but he forgives ALL sins, you just have to forgive yourself, and turn to God. He has never changed, and he never will, so if you feel like you can't trust people anymore because they are always turning their backs against you, or don't keep promises, or are always disappointing you, TRUST IN JESUS. He stays the same, hr is consistent, and will NEVER disappoint you, or turn his back. He's with you every step of the journey, even before, when you spit in his face, he was there, and he always will be, whether you believe or not. Isn't it miraculous that we can always talk to God wherever we are, whatever we are doing, at any time of day? Here is some truth for you to rest in today! No matter what the circumstance, no matter how hard or how good you've got it: God is ALWAYS the same.
The author of Hebrews was wrapping up his letter to the Jewish believers in this passage. He wrote the letter to help the Jewish believers understand and operate in their new faith. They were transitioning from the law and rule system of the religious leaders to a faith based on Jesus as their Messiah. No more laws, sacrifices, and performance based living. Jesus changed everything from rules to grace, from distance to a personal relationship, from judgement to mercy, love and so much more. In this verse, the author reminds the readers that there is nothing that needs to be added to Jesus to be made right with God. His sacrifice and blood shed for them was once for all and enough in itself. Not only that but since he is God the Son, he is the same yesterday, today and forever. He does not change therefore salvation through him cannot change. Since this is the case, there is no truth in strange, new or secret teachings that people promise have come from God to show new ways to come to him. He fully revealed the ONLY WAY through Jesus his son and no other way is possible to be saved. If God said it, you can rest assured it is so.
