Holy carp ๐!! It's been a whirlwind of a few weeks, and it's taken a week for it to finally hit me...but oh my Gs, I performed in the Boston Theater Marathon (BTM) to a sold out theater audience! (What!!) I had the honor of originating the role of Luz in Michelle M. Aguillon's heartfelt play Luz and Urduja (or Kinalakihan, โWarrior Womenโ). ๐ช๐ช Thank you, Meesh, for such a powerful play! Stories like Luz and Urduja are so important, and bringing Luz to life on stage has sparked so much joy! Despite the curveballs thrown at us (including a change in the cast with less than a week until showtime, a script revision for timing purposes, and scrambling for proper pants (lol)), we did it! And we did it well!! Yayayayayaya ๐ Thank you to everyone involved with Luz and Urduja for all your support and guidance throughout the last few weeks! The performance is honestly such a blur in my memories - I'm pretty sure I was running solely on adrenaline the entire time onstage. This is my 48th birthday. ๐ซฃ Itโs seems in this fitness version world of social media, birthdays are the day you show how well youโre physically aging. ๐ But no amount of pictures or even words can capture the beauty of my life. ๐ฅฐ๐ฎโ๐จ I feel like I should have some wisdom to impart, but honestly Iโm just figuring things out like the rest of you. Because once youโve got life handled you find yourself swept into the next evolution, bobbing around clueless. ๐คทโโ๏ธ Not that thereโs anything you can do about it nor is it anything youโve not already heard, but It goes by really fast. Fast Af. Oh, and you will age and thatโs allowed. ๐โโ๏ธThereโs only so much you can do to slow the shell deterioration. But hereโs some things Iโm working on: 1. Donโt wait until youโre fearless just do things scared and give less Fโs about what people think. I spent way too many years caring and allowing others opinions to dictate my value and feelings about myself. In the end the only regrets youโll have will be the things you wished youโd doneโฆ and youโll be out of time. 2. Donโt forget to tell people you love that you love them. I prolly do this too much now but thereโs different levels of love, and some ppl never hear those words, so tell them. 3. Friendly reminder Youโre not competing with anyone because no one can be you. ๐ ๐ We all have flaws. Someone will always be better looking, younger, more fit, nicer, smarter, more talented etc. Who cares theyโll never be you. This rebirth story started 2,921 days & a few leap years ago. On that day, 4/10/16, life or perhaps a God I hadnโt met yet, smacked me in the back of the head & told me that in order to see my 36th birthday, I needed to smarten up quick! I needed to accept something that I didnโt realize needed acceptance? April 10, 2016, I was living one bottle at a time playing Russian roulette with each one I put my lips on! Today, 8 years later, I donโt have to live that way. When I put that bottle down, I started to live one day at a time, sometimes one hour at a time & lately every minute at times. I still donโt have all the answers, but I found a solution & that solution is no longer waiting for me at the bottom of the bottle! My solution is a God that I still donโt understand, but he or she has my back! I talk to that God on a daily basis through prayer & meditation! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU to each & every single individual who has crossed my path over the last 8 years! It doesnโt matter if we crossed paths in court, in a meeting, work, social media, however be it, positive or negative...You still had an impact in my recovery journey thus far & I love you! Iโd also like to take a moment to remember a very important individual in my journey that lost their life this past week. He spoke to me differently while I was in treatment. His words commanded the room. Those words & that energy put forth out of this individual, helped keep me grounded when I damn sure needed it. A lot of how my recovery looks today is based around those few weeks in treatment with him. So for that, thank you KH, rest easy my friend!
