Today, I visited the farmer's market and discovered a "new-to-me" vendor - Auntie Neenee Sauces. After tasting one of their sauces, I knew I was using it for dinner. This sauce has incredible flavours, like a Caribbean Chimichurri!!🥰 So for dinner, panseared lamb chops with Auntie Neenee's Caribbean Green Seasoning. A bed of roasted veggie salad and roasted okra. This wine's grapes are sourced from Oliver, fermented in steel and matured in oak. Careful vineyard management closely monitors ripeness as it can get scorching, making over-ripening a concern. Its colour is an inky red with a noticeable dryness. The tannins, dryness, and acidity balance each other. Ripe cherry, dark plum, bittersweet chocolate, and a herby green note like green pepper on the finish. Smooth essences of vanilla finish the flavour profile. This beautiful wine danced nicely with this meal. I was most impressed with how well it reacted to this delicious tangy sauce, and then it made a quick change for after-dinner solo enjoyment. Joe Wackerbauer and his team at Okanagan Custom Homes constructed the impressive tasting room, which blends effortlessly into the surrounding Garnet Valley hills. Andrea and Bob Sartor own Solvero Wines, and Matt Sartor is the President and Vineyard Manager. The winery can produce 20,000 cases annually, but Bob commented that he expects future production to be around 8,000 cases. This thanksgiving dinner is SOOO cute with the little roasted quail stuffed with a date cornbread stuffing sitting in a pool of port-orange sauce accompanied by a Napa cabbage and pancetta sauté. I opened this set of wine as I knew they were almost past their greatness with the last set I opened. This wine still showed elements of its greatness…….just more muted. If you still have a set OPEN IT NOW and enjoy it on its own as I think it will get overpowered by any food. This is three different clones of the same grape from the same vintage. Clone 777 was low-med acid backbone and faint notes of raspberry, wet tobacco, and licorice. Clone 667 was very low acid backbone and faint flavors of licorice, vanilla, and cherry pit. Clone 115 was med-low acid backbone and faint flavors of clove, cranberry, wet tobacco. The skins were cold-soaked for 18 hours and the wine fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeast. The dry Rosé has aromas of strawberry and watermelon.
