A different view - today ➡️ Rightmove . I’d quite like to sort the dining chair situation - these are all chairs I already had and saved a bit of money having overspent on the kitchen. The Kartell one is higher than the rest and feels a bit out of place. The two grey wooden chairs are from Hay and there are now some new colours so will look at those as reasonably priced. The Vitra one is by far the most comfortable buy really quite expensive these days. A little before and after of the front We added additional parking/a turning area just after Christmas as the grass felt like a waste and the driveway was awkward to get on and off I also loved the paint that I got for the office bookcase so much that I painted the front door and garage in the same colour. I don't always get a chance to share my listings on Facebook. [I have GOT to be better about that]. BUT, this one was too good not to share! My first sentence in the listing description says it all "It's GROOVY baby" - cause it sure is! The yard is an absolute GEM and so is the location! Inside, this home has been SO well cared for and truly cherished by the same family for 53 years! The owners have passed and the kids are now in charge of Selling this home and closing out the Estate. It's hard to let go of "Grandma and Grandpa's house"; I get it. Buying a project was never my plan and not in the 2 weeks it took from viewing to completing but the house is perfect size and location. It was a repossession so it was left full of possessions so this week has been emptying the house and tip runs. I made a shag pile rug! Do I wish it was bigger? Yes! Do I want to keep going to make it bigger? No! This project used soooo much wool! I worked out that I cut over 12,000 stands of wool just for this little thing! I dyed the orange wool to get just the right colour. And technically, it's still not finished! I haven't finished the edges or back. But all that said, I love it and will happily scrunch my toes in its soft, squishiness!

Day 2 heating progress - 6 radiators down, 2 to go! 🎉 Majority of radiators are in now, with just 2 left to do. Turns out there was 2 water tanks in the loft one of which was hooked up to the air duct system. The one connected to the air duct system didn’t seem to want to drain down so has been left to very very slowly drain out overnight into the kitchen sink. Super happy with our decision to not move in until all of this work is done given the state of the house 🤣 I also think there is now a boiler in the garage but the plumber has the only garage door key and its locked until he is back tomorrow so not sure what it looks like in there!😅 Also, the plumber says it’s the newest air duct heating unit he is ever seen, so we might see if we can flog it on Facebook Marketplace for a couple quid 🤣 . . . . . #newcentralheating #newradiators #airductheating #1970sreno #1970shouse #homereno #diyrenivation #livingroommakeover #livingroomreno #bedroomreno

Our house is a 1970s build with a lot of original features still intact! We’re especially fond of the pine ceilings. :) we moved in in December 2023 and now we’ve started to do up the interior a little bit. Of course we’d already begun getting furniture etc but now we’ve started to paint the walls! The kitchen has the original tiles and then my guess is that in the early 2000s the black cupboards and countertops were added, along with the grey wallpaper. It’s a bit dark for us, so we’ve begun now to paint the walls in a cream white. Today we finished the primer! Here is the before, during and after photos of that. Well, well, well. If it isn’t me distracting myself from the fact that our downstairs flooded (twice) and that we’re gearing up for a huge renovation and remodel with a small fry repainting the entryway project. 😇 (it’s about the small wins, okay?) 💫 🤎 🧡 💛 💫 I’m not a fan of this bead-board here, honestly. I don’t think it fits the style or era of our home and we’ve got it in three spaces! When my parents built the new stair rails last summer (the ones stained black), we pulled some of the bead-board back to see if there was drywall or any other kind of wall covering that would make it possible for us to just remove it while we were messing around with this area. Alas, the bead-board *is* the wall covering. ☹️ Since we’ve got it, I’ll deal with it, but it will probably bug me until the day we move. 😂 I will say, this is solid wood paneling! None of that 1/8” thick MDF garbage sold nowadays. This is some thicc stuff! ANYWAY, all that to say, I’m repainting the entryway! Last summer, before we replaced the door with one I painted bright yellow (SW Daisy), I painted this wall mustard gold and the other bead-board covered wall running downstairs a muted dusty rose. I love those colors! But they don’t vibe with the Daisy on the front door. So, I convinced my husband to ball out and do hot pink and orange. Surprisingly, he was all for it! You can spot the swatches there and the two cans of paint in the corner. Fitting the plantation shutters is ongoing and I'm hiding in my sewing room - the only room not having them as I'm hoping for a Juliet balcony in here .... eventually 😄 We've always had roller blinds with voile/nets rather than curtains as this house gets a lot of direct sunshine, front in the morning and full sun on the back rooms all afternoon and evening, it can get very hot in the summer! The blinds and nets gave us flexibility to cut out some direct sun without having to sit in darkness with curtains shut if you know what I mean! When we got up this morning we realised that before the plantation shutters are fitted tomorrow we need to do the prep 🙈 Blinds and voiles are now down (except for our bedroom as I don't fancy frightening anyone glancing this way from the top deck of the 152 🫣) and those bits of wood that the curtain rails fix to above the windows, probably got a fancy name, but anyway gone, filled and painted. Windows and frames given a clean and we think we're all ready.
