At Woomera, a guard named Mr. GM Newell witnessed a baffling event while waiting for the bus.
As the desert sun set, he and two companions spotted an intensely bright light in the sky. Positioned about 45 degrees above the horizon, the light moved in a peculiar West North Westerly direction, seemingly parallel to the ground. Despite overcast skies and earlier rainfall, the light illuminated the clouds with the intensity of a full moon, casting a surreal glow over the countryside.
Newell described the light as resembling a meteor in color and size, about one-third the size of a full moon. The phenomenon persisted for approximately 15 seconds before fading into the distance.
While some speculated it could be rocket activity, Newell remained convinced it was unlike any rocket launch he had seen. The incident sparked intrigue and speculation, contributing to the ongoing fascination with unidentified flying objects (UFOs) and extraterrestrial phenomena.
