A busy Saturday for Tom & the team with 2 key events in the calendar, on the same day! The @jaguarbreakfastclub Supercharged Saturday at the home of the @jaguardaimlerheritage.trust - Gaydon, and there was only one car for us to take along…Emma the XJCR! Once again the feedback around the quality of the build has been really positive and the support from the JBC has been fantastic - thank you! More local to our HQ is a track Tom is familiar with on both bike and car - @thruxtonracing for the next round of the @classicsportscarclub_ Jaguar Championship. The #xjs was once again on form and proved to be an overall front runner in qualifying. Carrying success ballast from the win at Oulton Park, meant the car had a bit more weight, but after a good battle with Andy Harper in his Supercharged S Type, Tom successfully brought the XJS second overall and class win behind Colin Philpott. Race 2 was set to be a close battle between Tom and Colin. After a lightning start, Tom was leading the race and keeping Colin at bay. After dicing for overall lead at the back section of the circuit between CHURCH and BROOKLANDS, as both cars entered the CLUB chicane, Tom left the braking too late, locked up and kissed the tyre wall. With flat spotted tyres and a rubbing wheel arch it was time to retire the XJS! E-type to wiadomo, zna każdy, ale już jego następca, chociaż kojarzony, często wymyka się powszechnemu myśleniu o klasykach. A szkoda, bo Jaguar produkował XJ-Sa przez 20 lat i 7 miesięcy, więc szmat czasu, w którym auto miało czas stać się kultowym. Nim jednak doszło do tego, zaczęły się prace projektowe, prowadzone przez Malcolma Sayera, odpowiedzialnymi m.in. za E-type'a właśnie. Niestety, nim ukończono projekt, Malcolm zmarł, a schedę po nim przejął zespół kierowany przez Douga Trophe'a. Nowy model zaprezentowano 10 września 1975, napędzało go V12 o pojemności 5,3l i... trafił akurat na kryzys paliwowy. Na domiar złego pojawiły się problemy z homologowaniem auta w Niemczech, gdzie szerokie słupki B budziły obawę o niedostateczną widoczność do tyłu. Podobny problem dotknął Lancię Monte Carlo i oba wozy trzeba było homologować po zakupie samodzielnie w urzędzie. Powstał za to fantastyczny prototyp Pininfariny, nazwany XJSpider, z podnoszonymi lampami, wyglądający nie jak samochód z 1978, ale z 1998 - przynajmniej z zewnątrz. To była tak zwana era Pre-HE. Era HE rozpoczęła się w 1981 roku, wraz z nowym wydajniejszym V12 o mocy 295KM i zmianami wizualnymi, jak nowe zderzaki, czy wykończenie bagażnika pod kolor nadwozia. Do tego w 1983 roku doszły silniki 6 cylindrowe w układzie rzędowym, a także kabriolet XJ-SC. Wyprodukowank ich 5013, a jeden zbudowano specjalnie dla księżnej Diany. Wreszcie w 1991 wprowadzono ostatni lifting, pachnący troche Caro Plusem. Jaguara przejął Ford i chciał trochę jeszcze wydoić zasłużony model, zmieniając nazwe na XJS. Produkcję zakończono w 1996, zastępując go XK8.
