A 1996 Daimler Double Six, what a cool name, referencing its 6 litre V12 engine, these were actually the last Jaguar model to be V12 powered. The Daimler badge was basically put onto the highest spec X300 XJ12s. I like that those were the final days of a high trim being delineated by extra chrome, rather than the removal of chrome. An interesting piece of history is now for sale in Moscow - Jaguar Vanden Plas H.E. V12. Price 20.000€. On Friday we met with the owner and I did a little inspection (he is also an ex-owner of a diesel X350, what an odd choice). Series 3 is a Moscow car, a lot of service history since the 2000s in one single specialized service for Jags. Originally from Germany, 130,000 km, interior and leather in good condition. But the worst thing is that the car was repainted by one of the cheapest services with a bad reputation. There is a lot of rust in the trunk under the spare tire, and there is also some rust on the bottom, where it was not covered in an attempt to hide it. The paint has already started to bulge on the roof and A-pillar (not sure it is a right word). Also, the car was poorly assembled, the doors hang crookedly, the rubber around the rear window has come off and so on. At the same time, Jag regularly visited the service with many bills for hundreds of euros (many thousands of rubles). The V12 is smooth and quiet, no smoke on the rear. According to the Jag-Lovers website, 5.3 Vanden Plas H.E. no more than 1,000 units were assembled for the European market until 1983. Let's see how soon a new owner will be found who is (cash)ready to eliminate all external defects, because in Russia the main thing is appearance, otherwise there will be no respect from others, and this is very important of course 🫡 PS. The steering wheel is awful. There are 3 issues of the German Auto sports magazine Rallye Racing. According to my dad, this was the best thing to read for that topic. Auto, Motor& Sport wasn't as nerdy, I reckon. It's issues November '71 and June+July '72. Great pics, great stories! Then there is a book by Rob Wiedenhof about the Rally Program of the DAF factory team. THAT Rob Wiedenhof, you ask? Yes, he was a racer himself. For example, he was at the Marathon de la Route in a team with Govert de Jong and Huub Vermeulen. Loads of storys and (not so many) pictures. And then there is the photo album. Many pictures, racing Zandvoort, rally. It starts in the early 70s but the last pictures must be newer: MK2 Capris and Ascona Bs. The pictures of the Porsche 917 are a interesting. The don't seem to come from the time when the car was really active. Some sort of histo race? 🇬🇧 The Jaguar Mark 2 is a mid-sized luxury sports saloon built from late 1959 to 1967 by Jaguar in Coventry, England. The previous Jaguar 2.4 Litre and 3.4 Litre models made between 1955 and 1959 are identified as Mark 1 Jaguars The Mark 2 was a fast and capable saloon in line with Sir William Lyons' 1950s advertising slogan: Grace . . . Space . . . Pace, available with all three versions of the advanced Jaguar XK6 I6 engine, the 2.4, 3.4, and 3.8 litre. Production of the 3.8 ended in the (northern) autumn of 1967, with discounted sale of the 3.4 continuing on as the 340 until September 1968, and the 2.4 as the 240 until April 1969. There was no direct successor to the Mark 2 series. The 3.8 litre Jaguar S-type, an upscaled and refined version of the Mark 2, had already appeared in 1963, well before the first of the Mark 2 models was discontinued. The Jaguar 420, a more powerful and refined version of the S-Type, appeared in 1966. Both of those models remained in production until late 1968, when the Jaguar XJ6 appeared, ostensibly replacing and placed rather midway between them and the larger, more expensive Jaguar Mark X produced since 1961. The Mark 2 gained a reputation as a capable car among criminals and law enforcement alike; the 3.8 litre model being particularly fast with its 220 bhp (164 kW) engine driving the car from 0-60 mph (97 km/h) in 8.5 seconds and to a top speed of 125 mph (201 km/h) with enough room for five adults. İlk üretimi 1978 yılında başlayan bu setin üretimi 1983 yılında kadar devam etmiş. Bizim modelimizde 1978 İngiltere üretimi. Beyaz renk tercih edilen modelin kapılarında 'County Police' arması kullanılmış. Mavi renkli tepe lambaları ve onların ortasında da bir dönebilen far lambası bulunmakta. Ayrıca modelin bagaj kapısı da açılabilme detayına sahip. Modelin gerçeğini incelediğimizde araç 5.2L V12 bir motora sahipti. O zamanlar dünyada seri üretilen tek 12 silindirli, dört kapılı otomobildi ve yaklaşık 225km/saat azami hıza sahipti. Bu da onu Dünyanın en hızlı tam dört koltuklu aracı yaptı. Today, we have among us a model that represents justice and security. There is Jaguar XJ.12 Police Car, member number K-66 of the Matchbox by Lesney Superkings series. The vehicle is actually a member of the Matchbox police set, which consists of 2 Honda 750 motorcycles, road signs and poles, but unfortunately I only have the police vehicle. The first production of this set started in 1978 and continued until 1983. In our model, it is produced in England in 1978. The 'County Police' badge is used on the doors of the white color model. There are blue headlights and a rotating headlamp in the middle. Additionally, the model's trunk door also has an opening detail. When we examined the actual model, the vehicle had a 5.2L V12 engine. It was the only mass-produced 12-cylinder, four-door car in the world at the time and had a top speed of approximately 225km/h.
