These two fierce women, equally obsessed with each other, will go head to head in an epic game of cat and mouse. *** REVIEW As a HUGE Grey's Anatomy fan, anything with Sandra Oh is instantly going on my watch list! And she didn't disappoint! Eve was an instantly loveable character and was just flawlessly portrayed by Oh. And Jodie Comer's Villanelle? INCREDIBLE! Comer's accents, facial expressions, and overall acting deserves all the awards! Yes, her character was an assassin, but I honestly couldn't help but absolutely adore her! She certainly kept me at the edge of my seat throughout! I was always unsure what she was going to do next and just how far she was going to go! Captivating! Whether Comer and Oh were on-screen together or not, their chemistry was undeniable! I just love them! The rest of the cast also did extremely well in their roles. While the acting remained outstanding and consistent throughout, the story itself was a little hit and miss for me. Season 1 had me addicted and gripped for all 8 episodes, and Season 2 had me at the edge of my seat for the most part. However, Season 3 and 4 had moments and whole episodes where if just failed to hold my full attention. Also, the final episode ending was a tad disappointing, if I'm being honest. Overall, it is a thrilling series that is still absolutely worth a watch, regardless of the story being slower in the last two seasons. The Serial Killer's Wife (Mini Series) (2023) *** SYNOPSIS Beth's husband Tom, a village doctor, is arrested on suspicion of being a serial killer. His wife investigates with his best friend, and more evidence emerges, forcing her to question if she really knows the man she married. *** REVIEW I loved the book, but sadly, for me, the series just didn't live up to my expectations. For starters, the story is majorly different, which I wasn't expecting, and it really failed to fully grip my attention. If I'm being completely honest, all four episodes were bland, slow, and uneventful. The characters were even more unlikeable than they were in the book, and the cast were mediocre at best. The 'reveal' was decent, but unfortunately, it was ruined by the lack of story foundation and connection/development of the characters. I wouldn't waste your time with this one. Anya Taylor Joy portrays the role of Beth amazingly, and I found myself instantly drawn into her life. Right from the very start, I was captivated and, despite my lack of understanding about the game of Chess, I was desperate to know what was gonna happen next! The whole series was perfectly-paced, clever, and intensely compelling from start to finish. The rest of the cast also do brilliantly, and the character development is something that is consistently well-delivered throughout. Seven hours very well spent! Most definitely worth a watch. It's a raw and honest story that gave me goosebumps throughout! Once I started watching, I couldn't stop - binge-watching all 7 episodes in one sitting! Richard Gadd is not only incredibly brave for sharing his story, but he bought together a truly captivating series that was portrayed amazingly well. And the casting of Martha?!?! Just WOW. She was a 'character' who instantly made me unsettled. Certain comments, and her behaviour had my heart racing! Jessica Gunning ensured every moment was captivating, everything from her facial expressions, body language and dialogue just chilled me to my core!. There was moments where I did feel sorry for her, and there were moments that I was just genuinely scared of her. And that flip between a lonely, wounded soul and raging, vicious stalker is outstanding (and terrifying!). Gunning definitely should win all the awards! Touching on a few hard topics, this is definitely not a show for the faint-hearted and should come with some trigger warnings. The cast portray their roles amazingly, delivering characters that are hugely loveable from start to finish. While I do love all the main characters, Piper will always be my favourite! Ted season 1 (2024) *** SYNOPSIS It's 1993, and Ted's moment of fame has passed, leaving him living with his best friend, 16-year-old John Bennett, and his family. Ted might not be the best influence on John, but when it comes right down to it, Ted's willing to go out on a limb to help his friend and his family. *** REVIEW It's strange and oddly impressive how well Ted fits into the human world. He never feels out of place, just always there with his quick un-filtered jokes, and inappropriate behaviour. And I'm kinda here for it! Yes, like the movies, it's not something I would go back to continously and find it funny, but as a first time watch? It's hilarious! The friendship between Ted and John is still the strongest part of the story, and Max Burkholder does a great job of portraying a younger John. Ted, of course, is still voiced by Seth McFarlane, and while I still can't unhear Peter Griffin, I couldn't imagine Ted sounding any other way. Fear the Walking Dead seasons 1-8 (2015-2023) *** SYNOPSIS The lives of the residents of Los Angeles turn upside down when a zombie apocalypse occurs. A dysfunctional family has to reinvent itself and adapt to new ways of surviving the disaster. *** REVIEW I am in two minds about this series. Most of the characters are great, the casting is spot-on, and the majority of the character development works. But for me, it's the storylines itself, and the pacing that let it down. There was a lot of time jumps throughout the episodes, especially in the middle seasons. There were so many episodes where each scene would be a different character, in a different time - whether it was months before, or years after. There was no clear indication of what was going on, and honesty, it drove me bananas. Maybe if I watch it a second time, it'll be clearer, but as a first time watcher, it confused me so much. And for me, this show's storylines just didn't fully hold my interest. For probably every season, the episodes either had me at the edge of my seat, or I was ready to fall asleep. Such a shame because the writers clearly did an amazing job on the casting and the characters. I just wish they spent more time on the actual writing. But that's not to say I didn't enjoy the show as a whole, because I did. But I definitely rate the original The Walking Dead show a whole lot more. As they search for safety and evade the undead, they are forced to grapple with rival groups and difficult choices. *** REVIEW What I love most about this show is, despite the fact that it is centred around a 'zombie apocalypse', is how realistic it all feels. Obviously everyone knows that such things don't exist, but every effort has been made to ensure this show feels like a intense futuristic experience, rather then just a fantasy show. From details such as never calling the undead 'zombies', excellent character development, impressive-looking 'zombies', and storylines that really test and challenge each character's survival and fight to stay alive; this show is about more then killing the undead. There are a few slow-burner episodes, and certain storylines that I felt went on longer then they should of done, but overall, the whole show is intense, full of suspense and addictive from beginning to end! I don't think it's terrible, but it's not amazing either. Everything is just average at best. The cast/characters are somewhat likeable, but not memorable enough for me to remember their names. Every episode is definitely action-packed, and most have stunning locations, but, for me, there were more storylines that failed to grip my attention, as opposed to those that had my full interest. Chasing down criminals on the 'Most Wanted' list makes every episode more heartpoundingly intense and gripping. Of course, there is one or two episodes that maybe don't hold my interest as much as the rest, but this series as a whole, is action-packed, drama-filled and suspenseful from start to finish! The cast are excellent! Each character is very well portrayed, and fit in well with the team. The chemistry and team dynamic between them is strong and I like how the character development develops naturally. I am very much looking forward to Season 5! FBI seasons 1-5 (2018-2023) *** SYNOPSIS This series follows the inner workings of the FBI, bringing to bear all the Bureau's skills, intellect, and mind-blowing technology to keep New York and the country safe. *** REVIEW Action-packed, full of suspense, and gripping for the most part, FBI is definitely a series I recommend. The cast I think is the best thing about this show. All portray likeable characters and all deliver performances that are convincing and interesting. Their character development is there, but doesn't overshadow the crime element, which I like. My only negative is that not every single storyline/episode has my full attention, but this is to be expected from a show like this. I've never skipped an episode or anything, but while some have left me on the edge of my seat, others have just been playing in the background. Overall, a show I would definitely rate highly amongst other crime shows, and while it's not my absolute favourite, it's still a show I enjoy. The Act (Mini Series) (2019) *** SYNOPSIS Dee Dee, a single mother, lives with her chronically-ill daughter, Gypsy Rose. Deep beneath their caring and loving relationship lies a horrifying secret that will change their lives. *** REVIEW As True Crime series go, I'm impressed. I don't recall knowing about the crime when it happened, so when Gypsy kept popping up on my social media recently, I was intrigued, and I sought out this series to watch. I'm a little embarrassed by how hooked I was by the whole series. I binge-watched the whole thing in one seating, and I was captivated from start to finish. The whole situation is shocking, disturbing, and massively unsettling, but the portrayal that this series delivers is outstanding. Joey King and Patricia Arquette are phenomenal. They absolutely nailed their roles, and delivered hugely convincing performances that gave me chills to the bone. I, like everyone else, have my own opinions on what happened. I do believe the majority of blame lies with all doctors/nurses/healthcare professionals that overlooked and believed a mother's diagnosises of her daughter. Over 18 years, not one of them thought to do their own tests/medical work up?!?! No child just has leukaemia because her mother says so... it's ridiculous. I also believe that Gypsy was a lot smarter then people gave her credit for. There was so many things she could of done, rather then plotting to kill her mother, and she definitely should of got a harsher sentence. She should not be out with the public now. As for Nick, he was manipulated massively, he should not of got a harsher sentence then Gypsy, and he should of got psychological help. What Dee Dee did to her daughter was not ok in anyway, but if just ONE DECENT DOCTOR did his/her job... none of this would of happened. Dee Dee would of got the help she needed, Gypsy also... and Nick wouldn't of met Gypsy at all.
