Reverorum Ib Malacht, ein katholischer Haufen, haben schon eine äußerst umfangreich Diskografie, die alleine in diesem Jahr um mehrere Releases vergrößert wurde. Und trotz dem riesen Output und der immer hohen Qualität kann sich die "Kyrie Eleison" sehr weit oben im Bandranking platzieren. Dies dürfte der bis dato radikalste und derbste Release sein den sie produziert haben. Orthodoxer Black Metal auf der einen Seite, Noise und Industrial auf der anderen. Der Drumcomputer eskaliert komplett und sorgt mit dem Boxen und Trommelfelle malträtierenden Bass für ein maximal kaputtes und verstörendes Klangbild. Dazu glaubt man Attila Csihar höchstpersönlich würde auf der Platte die frohe Botschaft verkünden. Garniert wurde mit allerhand obskurer Sounds, Chöre, Orgeln und merkwürdigen Samples, alleine Übergang von "irgendwer redet auf vermutlich schwedisch mir Gospelchor im Hintergrund" zu einem der harschesten Passagen ist einfach nur genial. #bestof2023 6. Malokarpatan - Vertumnus caesar Eine Band die ich seit dem Debüt mit ihrer kauzigen Mischung aus 1. Wave Black metal, Mercyful Fate und slowakischer Folklore verfolge. Seit dem letzten Album gibt es dazu noch ein alte Prog-Note ala Van Der Graaf Generator und Konsorten. Und diese finden sich auch auf neustem Werk wieder, was ein Konzeptalbum über Rudolph den Zweiten geworden ist. Und passend zum Konzept ist das Album sehr feierlich, verspielt und ausschweifend geworden, bei dem bandtypschen schwarzen Humor und Okkultismus versteht sich. So gibt es zum bekannten Black-Heavy-Metal mit Prog Schlagseite allerhand klassische Instrumente, die von niemand Geringeren als dem Mastermind von Master's Hammer persönlich eingespielt wurde. Es ist erfrischend zu sehen wie man gleichermaßen retro wie innovativ sein kann und bei aller Entwicklung die der Sound der Band durchgemacht hat und bei wachsender technischer Fähigkeiten stets die Wurzeln im Auge zu behalten. Würde die Band nicht so eigensinnig-kauzig agieren und würde ein klassischen Metal Sänger die Musik untermalen, so könnte man bei Festivals wie dem KIT zur späten Stunde spielen, aber es sind gerade diese Eigenarten und die schwarze Komponente die diese Band so besonders und wertvoll macht.
