Su Legno Barrel Fermented Ales - Nero. Glynde, South Australia 🇦🇺 This is a classic South Australian style stout (think 'Extra Stout') fermented in charred American oak. Primo was one of the finest brews I tried last year, so very excited to have this in my possession. Pours a firm tan head with excellent retention. Aroma is simply incredible - malts, chocolate and coffee. Taste wise, for the record these notes are after I let it warm. Lovely malt driven roasted bitterness upfront with underlying notes of cacao. The coffee is prominent but not overpowering. Smooth, invisible ABV to the palate. Quite dry sipping. This is simply gorgeous, an elegant stout brewed with love and care which delivers on all fronts. This is the quintessential Modus classic, a Red IPA hopped with Mosaic and Galaxy, rebrewed for their 10th birthday. Pours a huge froth with good retention. Aroma of grapefruit, pine and loads of malts. Tatse wise, big malts and caramel upfront that give way to the influence of the hops, that bring grapefruit and pine back with some zesty notes on the tail. THROWBACK THURSDAY!! @sierranevada OVILA ABBEY QUAD WITH SUGAR PLUMS 10.2% Belgian Quadrupel. Ovila Abbey Quad was a sensational Belgian style quad brewed by Sierra Nevada back in the early 2010s. This complex beer was a collaboration between Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. and the monks of the Abbey of New Clairvaux. A Cistercian Monastery in the town of Vina, 20 minutes north of Chico California. A series of seasonal releases eventuated, with proceeds assisting the resident Monks to rebuild their Abbey into an architectural marvel… Proceeds from this project helped benefit the monks of the Abbey in their efforts to rebuild a 12th century, early-gothic Cistercian chapter house—The medieval chapter house, the Santa Maria de Ovila—was begun in 1190, near the village of Trillo, Spain. Cistercian monks lived, prayed, and worked there for nearly 800 years. In 1931, California newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst purchased the abbey and shipped it to Northern California. Hearst’s plans were never realized, and the stones fell into disrepair. In 1994, the Trappist-Cistercian monks of the Abbey of New Clairvaux, gained possession of the ruins, and began the painstaking stone-by-stone reconstruction of the historic abbey. This Belgian Quad held aromas of caramel, rich malt, and dark fruit balanced by the spiciness and delicate fruity notes of a traditional Belgian yeast. It also featured sugar plums grown on the grounds of the Abbey and harvested by the monks in Vina. Clayton IPA - 6.1% - @4pinesbeer It’s not often (it’s never happened) that you walk into a brewery and see your name on the board next to a beer style which always is a favourite. This IPA not only is named brilliantly but dials up the intensity in an IPA and delivers a smooth finish that is beautiful on the palate. The colour of the beer bounces off the camera and glass and as described by the brewers has a very opaque nature. The density of this beer is its key point for me. The mouthfeel was smooth and closely resembled a creamy like sensation. Don’t get this mixed up with the old school ‘Claytons’ drink as it has a good ABV hit, yet with the taste you wouldn’t know it’s dialled up. The IPA style mixed with the smoothness of this beer balances out and delivers a drop that I found disappearing quite quickly from my glass. Serving in @4pinestruckbar at the moment go treat yourself to one of the best Clayton’s you’ll find. A classy beer from one of the original (and still) Waters to Beers supporters #waterstobeers

Ekim Brewing Co - Imperial Coffee Stout. Mount Kuring-gai, NSW 🇦🇺 This is an imperial coffee stout brewed in collaboration with @withamscoffee in Hornsby. Pours a firm, tan coloured head with good retention. Aroma is literally akin to the first whiff of a freshly opened bag of coffee beans. Taste wise, the coffee is big, bitter and roasty but by no means dominates to the point that the palate party ends there. A layer of sweet chocolate notes emerges that brings a welcome variation to the proceedings. Silky smooth and incredibly invisible ABV. THE 2024 ZWANZE BEER is described thusly by the legend Jean Van Roy… ‘…A little over a year ago, we were in Brittany to submerge a few dozen bottles of Gueuze in the sea as a collaboration with Sylvain, an abalone farmer in Finistère. These bottles are still fermenting at a depth of 10 meters in the company of his charming creatures. Once a month, Sylvain brings up the cages to add various types of algae for the mollusks to feed on. We tasted these same algae in tartare during our visit, and the idea came to us to try them in maceration with Lambic to create a partnership between the brewery and Sylvain’s company. After several attempts, it turned out that seaweed, specifically the sea lettuce, gave the best result. The beer is, of course, very different from the fruity, vinous, or floral tastes traditionally found in our products. This Zwanze 2024 exudes aromas of exotic fruits; it has notes of iodine with a slight salinity reminiscent of oysters. It's looking like as of next week we won’t have a liquor licence for a few months, making it illegal for us to sell beer 😬 So instead of sitting on the May release until who knows when, we made a call late last night that we’d release it today 🍻 We will only be accepting online orders until 9pm Sunday, so if you want some damn fine Bracket beers you better get on it! Jumping straight in, we have our triple version of Test Print, Final Copy. This is a beer we’ve been wanting to make for a while, big additions of @freestylehops Peacharine with just enough Motueka to bind it all together. Considering this year we weren’t going to be able to release Test Print on May 15th, we decided it was the perfect time to make Final Copy instead. This might just be the best of the 3 triples we’ve released over the last couple of months. Big stonefruit, super soft mouthfeel & haze for days 🤤Big nod to Craig for suggesting this name when we first released Test Print back in ‘22. Next up is Broad Spectrum, a beer a few of you would have seen at @juicybne or on draught on our closing weekend or @mitchhotel, a little pre-release that went bigger than we were expecting. This sub 7% banger is what we strive for at Bracket: thick haze, super saturated hop character and at an ABV you can - almost! - session. This complex DDH IPA is throwing all sorts of flavours including green mango, sweet tropical fruits, lime zest & peach 🍑🥭🍋🟩 To complete this release we have Cali, a big ol’ collab with our mates @futurebrewingsyd. Our joint love of Kiwi hops and modern west cost IPA’s were the defining factors in producing this California style DIPA. Crisp malt character, big ABV, balanced bitterness & a huge hop character merging NZ and American hop varieties. Our English Brown Ale…..brewed to an age old recipe and served on tap through a sparkler. What’s a sparkler? It’s a nozzle attached to the tap spout that agitates the low carbonation in the beer to give it a smooth, velvety finish. The resultant head is reminiscent of a hand pulled beer from cask. Earth Beer Company - Fruit Tree Hazy IPA. Cudgen, NSW 🇦🇺 On holiday in the Gold Coast and this is the first local brew I've got my hands on (we are staying close to the NSW border so this brewery is only 14 mins drive). This is a Hazy IPA dry hopped with Citra and Simcoe. Pours a good froth, some retention. Aroma is big, loads of hop fruits with passionfruit and mandarin most notably. Taste wise, those fruits return to the palate with peach and general fruit like sweetness. Slight hop bitterness. Very easy to sip. Mountain Culture Beer Co x Track Brewing - Shimmer. Katoomba, NSW 🇦🇺/ Manchester 🇬🇧 This is collab with Manchester's Tracks Brewing is an Australian Sparkling Ale. A style I have quite the soft spot for. No hops listed. Pours a big froth that dips faster than expected. Aroma is slightly grainy, hints at citrus forward malt and hops within. Taste wise, less character than expected. The malts are fairly subdued with subtle citrus hop notes peering out. Lacks some of the mild yet essential bitterness that I associate with the style. Very crisp and unsurprisingly refreshing.
