New Boots and Panties - Ian Dury (1977) During an interview Ian Dury revealed he had a habit of purchasing his clothing from second hand stores. The only things he refused to buy second hand was New Boots and Panties… hence the title of the album. New Boots and Panties was the best selling album of Dury’s career, selling over 300,000 copies and making it into the top 30 selling albums of the year it was released. The album is an affectionate portrait of some of the characters and influences that Dury grew up with in London. If it wasn’t about characters it was about his relationships, and is often bawdy but always tongue in cheek. A superb album that really captures Londoner’s self deprecating wit and affable charm. Dury is a legend in Kilburn and he left behind some amazing music. Gawd bless ‘I’m. On this day in 1956 Gene Vincent recorded the classic rock 'n roll song 'Be Bop-A-Lula', at Owen Bradley's studio in Nashville. The song went on to be a US & UK Top 20 hit in this year. Vincent wrote the the song after being inspired by a comic strip called "Little Lulu". The second shot of Gene and the Blue Caps was taken of this photo on the wall at @capitolstudios.
