He trained 3 days a week and did little exercise variations. 1. Bench press 2. Partial bench 3. Cambered bar press (he liked to train different ranges, from half reps to going 2 inches below his chest) 4. Push ups on boxes (before having a cambered bar) Not much else. Played with pauses, time, etc 525lb official @ 179lb bw , 570 @ 198 , 596 @ 220, 635 @ 235 Mike was renowned for often looking though he didn't even train. He was laughed at, at his first Worlds. 15 inch arms and benched over 500. Let's remember though we are not him. Train your arms. If your shit .... and your small....maybe it correlates. Warm up room 2016 125kgs. I have been so many shapes and sizes. By this stage I was training casually and had been dealing with an aggressive back injury for 2 years. After 2011 I left powerlifting and i had hopes of getting my ifbb pro card however 2014 saw an onset of permanent spinal damage and I was never the same and I could not come back from. By this time i was down 20kgs and inevitably ended my career. I retired the day after this comp, it served as a last rodeo and a good bye from a lifetime of competition. #tbt Bondi Beach Lift - Sunday June 6 2010 My first lifting comp, 19 years old, weighed in at 108.3kg and totaled 477.5; squatted 175kg, benched 112.5kg and deadlifted 190kg. Coached by the infamous Scumbag Barbell @damien_u @peter_re90 @tommykhoury_ @hizoa I remember @RichardHozjan weighed in about 5kg lighter than I did but looked 100kg bigger than me. Peter Hitchen-Re benches 180kg/397lb I met Pete on the 6th of June 2010. He would've weighed 82.5kg/182lb dripping wet @ 19y/o. That day he competed equipped, bench only, and bombed; missing 155kg/342lb twice and skipping a third. A year later Pete was 10kg/22lb heavier, and sometime after that he benched 160kg/353lb raw and hit 210kg/463lb in a single-ply Katana. Big things were to come for Pete and his bench, but then life happened. Pete started working as a concreter, training took a back seat, he lost weight and when Pete stepped foot in a PTC he couldn't bench to save his life. This bench press has been in the making for at least half a decade and I know it means the world for Pete to have finally nailed it.
