These amazing orbs are up for grabs! I have been growing #schubertiiallium for several years now and just love the way that they dry. @barbs_blooms has a limited supply of these dried stems. $20 each. The one in my kitchen (picture one) looks like it’s trying to climb into the ceiling, (picture two) shows what a great holiday tree topper it makes. Dip the ends in glitter or spray paint the entire orb gold, silver or any cool color of your choosing. It can also just be “the tree”….hang your ornaments directly on the allium (as shown). Pictures 3 and 4 show how wall colors enhance these beauties. Picture 5 shows how they appear freshly cut. We will NOT be @doreyfarmersmarket this weekend but will return on Saturday July 29. Swarley and I found some awesome gourds and some beautiful dried grasses @yakashirofarm in Bradner. Mandy grows all her flowers out in the field with no irrigation. And they are so gorgeous… color retained so beautifully dried naturally in her barn. Schubertii allium! Out of all the alliums I think this one resembles a firework the most. They don't get very tall so plant near the front. I seen recently there is a white variety on the market now. Schubertii make an amazing dried flower. Spray painting them my personal favorite. So, I cut this #schubertiiallium yesterday (Earth Day) because it reminded me of a globe. I forgot to post it yesterday so Happy Day After Earth Day. You can’t appreciate the magnitude of this amazing allium without a tape measure.
In today’s garden I saw that the same #schubertiiallium which bloomed last year is almost ready to cut this year. It’s the only one of three that has bloomed so far but I’m remaining hopeful because I love this variety of allium. Also experienced some Blossom “shade” among the iris. Was excited to see that the purple smoke bush is sending out its little flowers which will eventually become “the smoke”. It was severely pruned this year and seems to be responding well to the shape that I imagined. Oh me oh my.... these bearded iris are definitely the largest variety that I’ve ever grown ....I see more #beardediris in my future. The dark velvety one is called Medici Prince. Today it was joined by its companion, Tanzanian Tangerine.
Our garden elective kiddos put these in last fall, and needless to say, it’s a bummer that they can’t see them in person. But still... so cool. #schubertiiallium
