She and her colleagues have to wear the highest level of PPE and despite the stressful atmosphere in there she always brings fun positive energy to the team and the patients. Her colleague who nominated her for #portraitsfornhsheroes says β€˜it’s so hard when the patients can’t see our smiles but we hope they can see it in our eyes, because I can’t imagine how terrifying it is for them. Happy international women's day! I spent some time at the hospital this week (all fine) and noticed this display. In order to redress the balance in documentation on the 300 year history of the hospital (lots of significant males, not so many women) they have been pulling photos of women from the archives. One photo from 1919 of unidentified nurses caught the eye of the drawer-in-residence, Anouk Mercier, and she is drawing individual portraits of the women. The hope is that visitors to the hospital might be able to identify them. I've just included one portrait here but there's 18 of them already done. I really hope someone spots their great grandmother on the wall. #internationalwomensday #womenswork #chelseaandwestminster #chelseaandwestminsterhospital #anoukmercier #portraitsofnurses #portraitsofwomen

Charity. She is a wife, mother of four, step-mother to one, pregnant with her 5th, doula, nurse for 6 years, and full-time student on her way to her BSN. She was my teammate in Triage, and my savior at times. She can find a vein in a rock, some of my favorite experiences were laboring patients in triage, when no L&D beds were available, with Charity putting her magical doula pixie-dust on them😘, and on one particularly crazy busy evening, when they brought a heavily bleeding pregnant patient to my room, when I was worried for the patient to the point of hands shaking, madly getting her undressed and on monitors, lots of blood, no extra help available, when I thought the situation might go downhill real fast... like an angel, she came through the door with arms full of supplies knowing just what the patient needed, then running for the hemorrhage cart... I was not alone, because Charity had my back. I will NEVER forget the moment I saw her come through that door, and what it meant to me. She is amazing beyond words, beautiful inside & out.πŸ’ #nurse #portrait #portraitsofnurses #project #Triage #WinniePalmerHospital #WinniePalmer #wph #apmc #orlandostrong #standingproud #orlandohealth #pregnantandworkinghard #doula #extraordinary #proud #professionals #amazing #awesome #omgilovethisgirl #ThankYou

Kim. Nurse for 20 years. Wife, mother of three, step-mom to two. She started her career at Arnold Palmer in the nursery, then was a baby nurse in L&D for 15 years, and is currently a Labor & Delivery O.R. RN at Winnie Palmer. Nursing is her passion. She originally had a bachelors in business and found herself in the hospital on post-op day #3 after her first child was born, and knew "this was it", and never went back to the business world. When her son was just 2 months old she was back in school on the path to her nursing degree..."Best decision I ever made." πŸ’– #realnurses #nurse #portrait #portraitsofnurses #project #wph #laboranddelivery #pacu #OR #winniepalmerhospital #arnoldpalmer #apmc #orlandohealth #orlandostrong #standingproud #professionals #awesome #rn #proud #ThankYou
