Ein imaginärer Garten - Landesgartenschau Jülich 1998 / 24m x 24m @leopold_hoesch_museum , Düren und Grünflächenamt der #stadtdüren Wenn es endlich Frühling wird dann denke ich gerne an ein Projekt im Jahr 1998 zurück. Damals fanden in Düren gleich zwei Ausstellungen statt: die Paper Art 7 und die #landesgartenschau. In Auseinandersetzung mit Papier und Grundrissstrukturen grub ich einen imaginären Garten als Negativform in den Boden. Die #labyrinth -artigen Gänge waren mit #zeitungspapier ausgekleidet. Da Papier sowohl ein kulturelles als auch ein natürliches Material ist, war die Absicht, dass die künstlich angelegte Fläche im Laufe der Zeit den natürlichen Prozessen folgt ohne Anspruch auf Instandhaltung. One image, another a short clip. Like most artists, I have been maneuvering work in the ‘real world’ and work I feel compelled to do; so only recently, have finally had more head space to engage in my dream work. This tree sculpture was exhibited, along a few of my other pieces, @gualalaarts. In the mornings, it swayed to the song of redwood trees joined by the roaring crashes of ocean waves. Now, it has become home to a family of mourning doves. Parents deemed it safe enough to protect their eggs. Hatched, now the chicks frolic about during the days, strengthening their wings and at dusk, the entire family rests together in my sculpture. It is an honor and privilege; I don’t say this lightly. Inspired by the ocean’s midnight zone creatures, I built this sculpture to share my fascination with connections. So much of the ocean reminds me of all that I see when gardening, on hikes, and even on walks around town. I create with nature, to help sustain nature. I use material that many dump in compost bins or trash cans. When I am in my creative process, I become a part of the material, a part of the environment they come from. I am deep in quiet, engulfed in peace; one with nature, safe and full of joy. My pieces are a collaboration with nature; they evolve through time, seasons and evolve with wind, moisture, and wildlife interactions. I welcome commissions. I welcome workshops, community events, and exhibits with the goal to connect people of all ages, with art through nature. I am certain it has everything to do with equity, diversity, and inclusion. I guarantee that anyone who experiences even a glimpse into the peace I feel, will show up into the world, more tolerant, more joyful, more positive in every aspect of life. Once upon a time, before moving to Laurel Canyon and way before we arrived in Cleveland, we lived on Cape Cod, up a dirt road in a pine forest, in a little village called Cotuit. I painted this 50x25 foot functional sail in my backyard and mounted it on the Village Green, tied to trees, where it took the wind to such a degree that it nearly uprooted the trees it was tied to. While it was up, though, in a milder wind, our children played underneath it, looking up to see the sun streaming through the colors like stained glass. I only have this one photograph of the sail and, since no one in the local press cared to photograph or write about it, the installation was ethereal as Theatre, in the sense that you had to be there to experience it, which is just fine with me cause art ought to be as fleeting as Life, here one moment and gone the next, like a Mandala painted with great care in colorful sand, and, once completed, is poured into flowing water. I miss Cotuit, where my daughter was so young, where my son was born, I so deeply wish we never left our Home there. ＰＥＮＥＬＯＰＥ Penelope is arguably the largest piece of outdoor artwork in Liverpool and was created by Cuban Sculpture Jorge Pardo for the 2006 Biennial. It’s located in Wolstenholme Square in the popular Ropewalks area amongst city living apartments and night life after the area was regenerated as part of an urban regeneration plan some years ago. Those of you (like me) who are of a certain age will remember a slightly different Wolstenholme Square with nightclubs Tuxedo Junction and The Continental. Tuesday nights at the Continental were very popular and attracted guests from across Liverpool, although I never actually went myself on a Tuesday night as was probably still struggling after a Coconut Grove Sunday!!! The Seven Magic Mountains installation in Las Vegas was supposed to be temporary when it debuted in 2016, but it's been such a crowd pleaser that they've kept it going.We visited when it first came out and It's more crowded now! I hope it inspires more roadside art. #2friendsvegas

[2023 Sai Kung Hoi Arts Festival] - [西貢海藝術節2023公開徵集勝出作品🏆] 《陸（六）分之一》 One-Sixth Land By: @ji1ji1design @arch_s_y_ 作品以六角岩柱的形狀為基礎，部分柱面用代表天后廟的顏色繩表現六角岩柱獨有的豎線型態，部分柱面像鏡子一樣反射島上的自然生態，希望人們先看到浩瀚的景觀，再近距離瞭解六角岩柱和北丫村民的故事。我們期待未來能夠透過工作坊記錄大家在島上的經歷，延續糧船灣的故事。 《陸(六)分之一》代表作品只是擷取了糧船灣島上自然樣貌的數分之一，這裏還有很多地方有待愛冒險的旅客去發掘島上珍貴的寶藏。 Our artwork celebrates the iconic geographical features and representative colors of High Island to create a unique and beautiful piece. Portions of the hexagonal pillars feature ropes that capture the vertical patterns, while others act as mirrors, reflecting the natural view of the sea and the landscape. The artwork offers visitors a sense of the vast beauty of High Island from afar, then allows them to explore it up close. We look forward to continuing the island stories by recording your journey on High Island through our coming workshops. "One-Sixth Land" was named to acknowledge that it only captures a tiny portion of the island's natural beauty. #throwbackthursday to last year when we installed our piece ‘Weave’ for the Our Spaces project go up in Bridge St, Nuneaton 🙌 The vibrant seating design was commissioned by Warwickshire council and celebrates the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee year as well as marks the beginning of the town’s transformation. Inspired by the town’s River Anker and ribbon weaving heritage, the geometric, loom-like design is created from slatted struts that rise and fall in correlation with the river’s route. Ausgrabungsfeld… ein imaginärer Garten, Außenprojekt zur PaperArt 7 Archäologen graben nach Spuren der Vergangenheit, legen akribisch Schicht für Schicht frei und versuchen ihre Funde mit geschichtlichen Ereignissen in Zusammenhang zu bringen. Mein #ausgrabung -sfeld geht den umgekehrten Weg und stellt den Begriff auf den Kopf. Hier sind Strukturebenen rational angelegt, Gänge ausgehoben, die mit Schichten von #zeitungspapier stabilisiert wurden. Auch die Vegetation unterliegt einer exakten Wachstumsplanung, die nach und nach, hier und dort #strukturen für eine Zeitlang sichtbar werden lässt, bis sie wieder verschwinden. Der Besucher ist Zeitzeuge des jeweiligen Istzustands des Gartens. Dieser wird sich nämlich zukünftig den natürlichen Prozessen durch Verrotten, Absinken der Grasnarbe und der jahreszeitlichen Witterung stets verändern und gegebenenfalls auf Kunstarchäologen warten, die ihn zu rekonstruieren versuchen. I’m thrilled to be one of the 47 photographers included in "From Her to Eternity: The Women Who Photograph Music,” on display in Chicago through Sept. 18, 2023. The outdoor public art installation, presented by B. George and the Archive of Contemporary Music (ARC), was curated by Julie Panebianco and Courtney Love in conjunction with the Wabash Arts Corridor (WAC), The Metro, Columbia College Chicago and the Museum of Contemporary Photography (MoCP). Included is my 1984 photograph of The Replacements, aka “The time The Replacements stopped by for a beer.” 🍻 The photographers represented include many of my peers; young photographers I’m privileged to learn about; and the legends I grew up admiring who inspired me to follow the paths they first forged.
