The one thing I really, really wanted to do in Turkey was go on a hot air balloon ride in Cappadocia. Hot air ballooning is highly regulated by the Turkish Aeronautical Association here and they make the final decision regarding weather conditions. There was another @remoteyear group who had come here right before me and despite having a four day buffer didn’t get the opportunity to go up. I had a three day window but seemingly caught a lucky break when @akudu_turkishmoon told me that the balloons were going to fly on my second day! I got up at 3 am and waited anxiously for my van driver. He drove us the meeting point and said, “Wait here.” Fifteen minutes turned to 30 minutes then 45 minutes. Then he finally came back and said the balloon rides were cancelled for the day. Now my window was down to one day and I was flying back to Istanbul at 11 am. Because so many flight days had been cancelled the balloon rides were now going by auction but fortunately Aydin was able to secure me a spot. I didn’t want to get my hopes up but did the 3 am wake up call again and sat in the freezing van for an hour. I couldn’t believe it when the driver came back and drove us to the staging area for the balloons. It was HAPPENING. Sometimes you do an experience and it doesn’t quite match up to what you thought it would be like but this one was exactly what I had imagined. Hundreds of balloons flying across the stunning Cappadocia landscape at sunrise. It was beautiful and peaceful and very, very cold, I’m so thrilled I got to experience this!
Kunst an Kölner Litfaßsäulen - „Zeitkapsel“, hier am Südfriedhof, Köln Zollstock Es gibt ein neues Motiv an den Kunstsäulen. Der Künstler Byron Co nutzt nutzt die Fotos seines Großvaters namens Nathaniel Gutierrez. Dieser hat Anfang der 1960er Jahre in Köln Fotografie studiert und machte Fotos von der Stadt. Einige davon wurden in einem philippinischen Magazin abgedruckt. Auf einem Foto aus dem Jahr 1966 ist ein Kind zu sehen, das mit seinem Dreirad mitten durch die Brunnenfontäne auf dem Neumarkt fährt. Weiterhin sind ist eine Silhouette des Kölner Doms sowie eine Litfaßsäule der Stadt sind zu sehen. Daher wirkt die derzeitige Kunstsäule wie eine "Zeitkapsel", die Bilder aus der Vergangenheit mit der Gegenwart verknüpft. - Byron Co erinnert auch an die vor genau 70 Jahren im Mai 1954 eröffnete Staatliche Höhere Fachschule für Photographie Köln (heute ein Teil der TH Köln und KISD), die seinerzeit Studierende aus ganz Europa, Amerika, Nordafrika und Asien anzog. - Byron Co (geboren 1994) ist als Art Director tätig, der bildbasierte Kunst, Design und Forschung betreibt. Pulling some dated, dare I say “vintage,” photos in honour of Vyshyvanka Day. It’s hard to believe that it’s been 12 years since my first trip to Ukraine. I was a fresh faced kid just out of university on one of my first international trips ever. The vyshyvanka has become synonymous with Ukrainian folk culture, but similar embroidered textiles l can be found across Central and Eastern Europe. The symbolism has only become greater in recent years as Russia tries to systematically destroy Ukrainian statehood, claiming that Ukrainian culture is fake or Nazi. 🥳 Anlässlich unseres 60. Jubiläums stehen jeden Monat eines oder mehrere der Museumshäuser im besonderen Blickpunkt. 🤔 In diesem Monat sind es sogar vier Häuser, unsere "Häuser im Schatten" der großen Schwarzwaldhöfe. Höchste Zeit, euch etwas mehr über die einzelnen zu erzählen. Weiter geht's mit dem Tagelöhnerhaus (Wirtstonishaus). 🦌 Der Erbauer des Hauses, Anton (Toni) Kern (geboren 1789) war ein Sohn des Hirschwirtes Franz Joseph Kern. 🧱 Erbaut wurde das Tagelöhnerhaus 1819 in Oberprechtal. 🐖 Die Lage am Hang machte eine starke Stelzung des Gebäudes erforderlich. Im dafür gemauerten Sockelgeschoss sind Schweinestall und Keller untergebracht. 🐐 Von 1819 bis 1921 waren die Besitzer als Weber, Tagelöhner und Waldarbeiter tätig. Die geringfügige Landwirtschaft wurde als Nebenerwerb bis 1993 betrieben. 🏚️ Die letzten Bewohner waren zwei Junggesellen, die Brüder Wilhelm und Johann Kern und lebten ab 1981 im Haus. 1988 vermachte Wilhelm das Haus seinem Neffen, der es 2000 an den Ortenaukreis und somit an das Freilichtmuseum übergab. Die Umsetzung ins Museum fand 2001/2002 statt. 🪑 Die Inneneinrichtung des Hauses wurde wie 1993 vorgefunden komplett übernommen. Vad kan man hitta på när man är pappa(eller mamma)ledig? Varför inte göra som vår pappalediga konservator och ta med barnen till Kulturens lekutställning och utforska HC Andersens värld. Har man mycket spring i benen behöver man kanske börja med att åka rutschkana ett par gånger - eller rent av väldigt många gånger! För att komma upp på rutschkanan måste man klättra upp genom Prinsessan på ärtens säng. Och sen kan an fortsätta med att leka i de många olika sagorna. Har man inte hört dem förut kan man slå sig ner i läsrummet och läsa dem där, eller få en kortfattad version från de stora boksidorna som utställningen är uppbyggd av. #tbt to the open air museum Den Gamle By, my personal highlight in Aarhus, Denmark! 🤩 I absolutely love everything old, vintage and historical (especially historic architecture/furniture), so this was super exciting for me! Den Gamle By is literally a journey through time. You start off in the 2000-2014s and move, by walking the streets, all the way back to the 1600s! The museum is built like a town and you are able to enter nearly every house, alley, courtyard and shop (most shops are even in business)! 😍 Every house and shop are furnished according to their time, and the staff of the shops are dressed and behave accordingly too! It really was so much fun to go and explore it all! Im Rahmen der Umgestaltung unserer Brechdarre hat dieses schöne Objekt seinen Weg in unsere Sammlung gefunden. Es handelt sich um eine Flachsbreche, mit deren Hilfe Flachshalme aufgebrochen werden können. So kann man an die Faser gelangen, aus der Garn gesponnen wird. Bei der hier gezeigten Breche handelt es sich um ein besonderes Schmuckstück aus dem Jahre 1926. Der Bauer Jakob K. hat sie in einer Verlosung in Weil im Schönbuch gewonnen. What a coincidence that they celebrate their birthdays the same day. #babalúenglishmeetings Sheldon, the Smart, planned a tea party at Milady's house in S'Agaró. But I received a WhatsApp from Milady's caregiver inviting us to a party. Can't wait to hug her. So many days without contact. Sheldon is the one visiting her in order to see how she is. Must ask the Boss is she will be with us. She had to travel to London with her son. We have held long phone calls during my convalescence. It's a kind of tradition to celebrate it together. Our friendship was born from the English group meetings. 16 years together next September. We have shared so many things: birthdays, trips, parties, funerals. I can't imagine my life without them. I asked Sheldon to buy flowers or a nice gift for the two of us. Every afternoon I fell sleep after lunch. 2 hours or 1 hour and a half. But recovering well. I said to Sheldon: I'm very bossy. She answered: Noooo you're the Romantic, the Boss is Pilar. She has a lot of patience with me. 🍾 60 Jahre Freilichtmuseum Vogtsbauernhof 📅 1984 🌱 Im Rückblick erscheint das Jahr 1984 als der Wendepunkt hin zum lebendigen Museum. Am Weg zum Vogtsbauernhof wurden Schaufelder mit alten Getreidesorten angelegt, vor den großen Hofgebäuden artenreiche Bauerngärten. Erstmals wurde ein Veranstaltungsprogramm angeboten, zunächst noch bestehend aus zwei Vorträgen und einem dreitägigen Seminar zu einem ausgewählten Thema. 🐮 Der ehemalige Stallraum des Hotzenwaldhauses (heute die Museumswerkstatt) wurde als Raum für Sonderausstellungen eingerichtet. Im ersten Jahr wurde er gleich für vier Sonderausstellungen genutzt. 🎒 Aus der Zusammenarbeit mit Vertretern der Gewerkschaft Erziehung und Wissenschaft (GEW) entstanden 1984 die ersten Ansätze zur pädagogischen Perspektive des Freilichtmuseums. Ein erster Entwurf zur Erstellung geeigneter Lernmaterialien für Schulklassen wurde erarbeitet. 👨👨👧👦 Mittlerweile bestand die Museumsmannschaft aus einem festen Team mit wissenschaftlichem Leiter sowie 7 ständigen Mitarbeitern.
