COMMISSION REPAIR Dickies loose fit double knee. Majority of the fabric near and around the front and back pocket openings was extremely warn pilling and was close to tears/ dry rot. Front pocket openings where reconstructed and reinforced with contrasting cotton plaids+topstitch machine darning. Stains, tears and fabric wear, have been reinforced with contrasting exterior cotton plaid patching. The fabric has been bonded with machine darning topstitch that follows the pattern of each individual fabric. Both back pocket welts where completely worn and ripped out. The whole pocket was fully deconstructed in order to reconstruct the welts back to their original form. The seat and back crotch fabric was nearly translucent but has now been fused and rebuilt with exterior patching, cross hatch topstitch, zig zag stitch and machine darning. COMMISSION REPAIR Second layer of Denim repairs on these vintage carhartt’s. Thighs, knees, crutch, side seams, back pockets and seat had all blown out or were about to blow. Side seam and back pockets where completely deconstructed and blow outs where reinforced with interior or exterior patching combined with machine darning. Both back pockets were completely reconstructed with reinforcement facings at the bottom of the pocket to prevent further blowouts. Thigh area was reinforced with small interior contrasting denim patches that were trimmed and pressed with the raw edges top stitched. The back pockets, yoke, side seam & hem were all reconstructed with jean thread chain stitching and bar tacking/ hardware were replaced. Right back pocket was torn off and had a huge hole in it. The pant leg and pocket were individually repaired and re-attached with cotton jean thread lock-stitch. All patching and repairs that covered original topstitch was also re topstitched with cotton jean thread lock-stitching. COMMISSIONED REPAIR Carhartt WIP cotton duck double knee featuring reinforcement patching/ machine darning. We rebuilt the fabric around front thigh, front pocket area, back pockets, front crotch and back crotch. The Back pockets where removed and re attached so we could put in a butt reinforcement panel. Both back pockets where then reinforced to prevent rips/tears near the rivet and bar-tacking areas. Each reinforcement patch insert was also cut from 3 different types of fabrics, so when the fabric begins to age again it will reveal a new texture in each area.
