Last year I attended my first @paddlesportgettogether organized by @peteryeungoutdoors. Highly recommend. The adventure started with a parking lot car camp accompanied by most of the people pictured. (First time sleeping in my car😂✔️) The rest joined in the morning where first, donated food was collected and raffle tickets sold. The entire group had lots of time to prepare themselves and set up their kayaks and do everything before take off. After some group photos the bells went and off we dispersed all different directions to fish our friendly tourney! Was cool to see like 60 kayaks racing out of a launch. Despite not winning anything myself it was amazing to see all the awesome prizes being handed out to fellow outdoor enthusiasts. And the water... What a beautiful lake Six Mile is to boat, swim or fish on. It had its extra charm since I hadn’t been there before. Haha. I’m excited to gain knowledge from some experienced anglers once again and of course, paddle and fish another new water at this years #paddlesportgettogether . So much to learn on a day like this. SCKA Stop #4 - Put together a decent bag pretty early and decided to go try and catch a big on the rat. Tossed the @fcb_fishing_co rat in a pocket in the trees and hooked up to what may have been my PB. Right when she started pulling drag my 30lb power pro braid snapped like nothing all the way back near the spool. She still had the rat in her mouth until she shook it a minute or so later. A lesson learned about changing old line, and always checking for frays if you are pitching in thick stuff. Hopefully she decides to come back for another bite someday. For now she will just haunt my dreams 😭 Another great tournament with an awesome group. 15th place for the third tournament in a row. Now if I could only drop that 5 off that number I’d be in business. Til next time 🤘🏻🎣

After I recently noticed a crack in my hull, I contacted customer service to file a warranty claim. Some back and forth with emails occurred and I got a shipping notification on Tuesday night. Kayak arrived today. Old Town was PHENOMENAL to work with through all of it. Didn't think I'd ever have to worry about a claim, but man did they make it super easy when I had to do it. The lifetime warranty was a factor in choosing the AP platform and now I'm even happier that I went with it. Well. Certainly wasn’t the evening we had planned. But we were not alone in how it turned out. I didn’t even want to go kayaking. My boat had a mouse family in it that needed to be relocated. Then we couldn’t get the straps to work to tie them to the roof. I was getting frustrated and wanted to go tomorrow morning. But I work through my frustration and headed to the lake. Then we argued about were to put in. Leaving the marina lot Ryan felt strongly we go to the other launch. So we went. Again frustrated  Not five minutes after we put our boats in the water. We noticed herons flying low over us and loudly squawking. Hindsight now it was like they were telling us something needed our attention. With a closer look we found this beauty completely exhausted and entangled in fishing line complete with a hook in his leg and one in his foot. We told him we’re were there to help, thank goodness my kids always carry a knife on them!! With me grabbing him and Ryan cutting him free I held him while Ryan paddled us back. As we got closer to shore we saw 2 people enjoying the view. At that moment a DCNR ranger just happened to be patrolling the parking lot we yelled to the couple to go flag him down. If the couple wasn’t by the lakeside we would have missed the ranger. The couple even mentioned they didn’t intend on getting out of the car as they just pulled in to see the sunset but she felt compelled to get out and walk. Tonight just validated my belief in divine intervention. We were exactly where we were suppose to be. To all my fellow fishing folks. Please be responsible with your line. Snags suck.
