The twilight of Olympia carriage-shifted typewriter models…the SM7. I found this in the hinterlands of Green Bay for a song. So thrilled to add it to my collection: I adore the wonderfully tactile checkered background for the logo! Olympias are so durable. Let’s just say this machine has seen a LOT of action by little hands, not all of it good. It was on display and played with for many years, but as a testament to its durability, it survived to type another day after some love. There were several springs that needed to be reattached or replaced, years of fur and grime, a bent carriage return arm, plus what no one ever wants to find in the case — a lost linkage. My latest acquisition: an untouched Kyosho Lazer ZX-Sport. This one is destined for preservation. The third Sport I have which can still be called a Sport. Many others ended up getting modified.
