My Babysitter’s a Vampire- The Date to End All Dates The season final sees Ethan finally go on a date with Sarah only for the world to come to an end. This was a great final, and it could’ve been perfect if it didn’t end on a cliffhanger. The fact that this show didn’t get a season 3 really annoys me. I really enjoyed the overall story as I feel like it’s a pretty good conclusion to most of the arcs. I really loved that Ethan and Sarah finally got a chance to explore their feelings and it’s just a shame we didn’t get another chance to see it. The overall story arc was really good with Ethan and Benny being made to find out who’s killing off the vampires. The overall mystery aspect of the plot when it was explored was really good, however it just wasn’t explores enough. The reveal that the vice principal was the big bad could’ve been a great reveal, but the fact that he barely appears in the series was such a let-down. I like the inclusion of Jessie, with the villain acting as a good guy in this one was a really good take on the character. I like his history with the main villain, killing one of his ancestors and basically starting his whole hatred for them. I like the mystery aspect of the story with someone powerful enough to steal from the vampire council and render one of them in a coma like state. The idea behind the Lucifractor was pretty good, being this deadly device capable of killing off all vampires. My Babysitter’s a Vampire- Halloweird The story sees Rory possessed by a deadly force with the ability to turn people into their costumes. For the penultimate story of the series, this one is a pretty fun and silly, a good tone to have before the more serious final. I like the overall premise with an ancient warrior turning Halloween party goers into their costumes. I think the overall idea of this was pretty funny and creative, especially as you see all the different variety of creatures. Something I feel the story could’ve done was set up the nice teacher as the big bad, as it’d make more sense as he has all the knowledge of supernatural things and is always in possession of them. It makes more sense than having the big bad be the vice principal, a character we’ve only seen twice. I like Ethan’s arc in the story, I think it’s pretty sweet seeing him try to give Sarah a nice night. It’s cute seeing how excited he is at the thought of making Sarah happy. The overall tone of the story is really fun, with some pretty good comedy, from Ethan being a brooding Twilight like vampire, to Benny helping Ethan’s mother who’s become a witch in making a potion. This story does do some nice things for Ethan and Sarah’s relationship. My Babysitter’s a Vampire- Jockenstien The story sees Sarah and the others work to clear her name as someone is stealing bodies from the graveyard. I think this is a pretty creative and dark idea, seeing someone made from the best parts of dead jocks be created in order to win more games. I think this is really unique and morbid idea considering the fact that tones of people might’ve died to create this creature. It’s a good take on Frankenstein’s monster and a creative one. I like the way this story plays out, with Ethan and Benny slowly figuring out what Bolts really is as his body parts mismatch. The side plot of the story was quite interesting with Sarah being accused of grave robbing and getting in trouble with the vampire council. I like all the hints to their laws and customs and learning that drinking from dead people is illegal is an interesting idea. My Babysitter’s a Vampire- Siren Song The story sees a hypnotic siren take over the school during a talent show. We’re back to the filler episodes after a really solid episode exploring the series arc. We’re back to the cringy middling stories that don’t do much with their ideas. I liked the idea behind it, taking a mythological creature and placing it in the modern day however this episode is probably the most cringy thing ever. The way the story explores the siren is really irritating, making her just an over the top gothic character who’s whole personality is how moody and dark she is. Her acting isn’t even that good, it’s unemotional and dull, even her singing isn’t good. Everything about this story is really cringy, just from the poorly written dialogue, to the comedy to the way the titular villain is written. I think every character in this has just dialled up their cringyness all the way up. Even Sarah is being intensely cringy as she tries to dance for the talent show. We don’t even really explore her motivations as all she says is she wants people to hear her pain. My Babysitter’s a Vampire- Independence Daze The story sees the trio hunted in their dreams by deadly forces. Personally I feel like this series doesn’t do enough for the overall story line. I think the serious should’ve given it some more focus as other than the first episode in series 2, this is the only other episode to explore it. I feel like the overall story arc is being a bit of a letdown, even the main villain of the series doesn’t appear in the series as much as he should. Something I did like was how much the final was built up on with Benny’s grandmother trying to tell the trio how much danger is coming. The overall threats of the story are fine but could’ve been better. Ethan and Sarah’s villain feel personal to them and to the plot while Benny’s feels like filler and lets the story down. Sarah’s arc in the story is pretty good with her trying to overcome her dark vampiric side. Ethan’s villain is probably the most important, giving us the first proper look at the main villain. My Babysitter’s a Vampire- Hottie Ho Tep The story sees the guys resurrect an Egyptian prince who wants Sarah to be his queen. I like the idea behind this story, not going full horror movie monster with a classic and iconic horror creature. But having this story be a sort comedy, romance story with the mummy trying to take Sarah as his queen. Personally, I found this story to be a bit boring and predictable, with us knowing what the mummy wants from the beginning and seeing any and all twists from the story coming a mile away. The mummy character comes across as really cringy and dull as he tries to win over Sarah. His personality is kinda boring too as his whole thing is trying to be romantic.
