Scandinavian folklore lesson! This part of my soon to be finished painting "Jenta i saueflokken" shows the skogsvette (forest spirit) Huldra. Huldra would lure men working in the forest or mountains with her good looks, only for them to be trapped in the mountain (bergtatt). If seen from behind, you would notice her ox tail and her back like a hollowed out log. The second photo shows the Hulder Boulder, where she allegedly lives, at the farm where my family is from. Passing this rock required wearing a piece of iron to keep Huldra away.
