Bursting this bubble👇🏼 It’s important. It’s not the end all be all. It’s not the root cause. Why not? … … … Because there’s something Causing the posture. -and that could be 1000 different things. Repeated patterns emotionally or physical, Ergonomics, lifestyle, job, untreated issues, Breathing? Depression? Anxiety? There could be many causes. But as a good PT friend of mine says, you need to unwind it on both ends- the physical works on the mental and the mental works on the physical. So what do you do now? Don’t freak out about your posture. Become aware of it, and see if you can become aware of how and when it changes throughout the day. If you truly believe it needs to be improved, seek out a professional or information on the topic. Truth be told, most “bad” posture is most likely just an unmitigated symptom of desk jobs and being on phones all day- to grossly oversimplify. - So what do you think is influencing your posture to be the way it is?

💢 #Lordosis. Lordosis is a medical condition characterized by an excessive inward curvature of the lower spine, leading to a pronounced arch in the back. While the spine naturally has a slight inward curve, an exaggerated or abnormal curvature can cause various symptoms and complications. There are several factors that can contribute to the development of lordosis. One common cause is poor posture, particularly habits like slouching or sitting with an excessive arch in the lower back. Prolonged periods of poor posture can strain the muscles and ligaments supporting the spine, leading to an abnormal curvature. In some cases, lordosis may be associated with underlying conditions such as obesity, osteoporosis, or certain neuromuscular disorders. In these instances, the abnormal curvature is often a secondary symptom of the underlying condition. The symptoms of lordosis can vary depending on the severity of the curvature. Mild cases may not cause any noticeable symptoms, while more severe cases can result in lower back pain, muscle stiffness, and difficulty in maintaining a neutral standing or sitting position. Treatment for lordosis depends on the underlying cause and the severity of the curvature. It typically involves a combination of interventions, including physical therapy, exercises to strengthen weak muscles and stretch tight ones, pain management techniques, and lifestyle modifications to improve posture and body mechanics. I know this may seem late but I wanted to see if it really had made a difference. What I learnt on the course has made an immense difference to me. With daily FT practice I am now pain free. This has enabled me to address the muscle imbalances/compensations I had developed due to years of chronic back pain. The training has enabled me to run again for the first time in 8 years and I am now well into my triathlon training - pain free, feeling much fitter and, as a result of the exercise, losing weight. I had not realised just how restricted and compromised my body movements had become. I now start the day with 15mins FT, do 40 mins HIIT training at lunchtime then swim, bike or run in the evening. P R O L A P S E & P O S T U R E 🤍 The difference between these two photos is my spinal position 👀 Another risk factor to me developing Pelvic Organ Prolapse that I never knew about was the fact that I had developed an anterior pelvic tilt following pregnancy. This is shown in the left photo and the right is my my corrected posture Obesity and pregnancy are two leading factors for causing this type of posture, as you're carrying heavier weight on the front of your body. It's so slight I wouldn't have ever known until it was pointed out - swipe for a photo that brings it to life This type of posture is known as Lordosis 'An abnormal change in spinal curvature, specifically, a loss of lumbar lordosis, appears to be a significant risk factor in the development of pelvic organ prolapse' T F Mattox et al. Am J Obstet Gynecol. 2000 Dec.
