Hello from Rørvik Beach 🇳🇴 a super tiny, but stunningly beautiful, beach somewhere between Solvær and Henningsvær. Today we were planning to hike Festvågtind, but the weather did not permit a safe ascend to the peak, so we decided to explore Henningsvær and make a stop at this beautiful beach on the way back to Svolvær. Der heutige Morgen beginnt mit einem Besuch von Mister Fux. Der war sooo härzig. Für einen Morgenspaziergang am Strand wählen wir Haukland Beach. Waaahnsinn!!! Der Strand ist so schön, der weisse Sand ist perfekt. Als Wanderung wählen wir den einsamen Kvalvika Beach. Man läuft eine Stunde über einen Pass. Erst wenn der Pass überschritten ist sieht man den verborgenen Strand. Having kayak fun time in the fjord today 😃 The day started off windy, rainy and foggy. Most people would stay inside and wouldn’t do any outdoor activity. You don’t know what you miss out on when you let some rain stop you… We had an amazing time! Having fun kayaking in beautiful scenery with moody cloudy weather. Exploring the underwater world. Well...i mentioned a special night in my last post.....for the first time on my travels (nealre 1,5 weeks above the polar circle and shit weather) i had a clear night and norhtern lights are not present every night...but i had so much luck, that in this instance they did show up....it was so impressive, can only say if you ahve the chance to see them in real do it! No photo or video can show what this experience is!!! And well...luck over luck...i even saw a northern light heart!!! Chances.... What an epic first day skiing in Lofoten! Spotted this peak from the road and checked Google Earth out for how to climb and ski it. My original line was still frozen with the crazy wind, and after Lyngen, I wanted to ski corn, so I found a way off the back that was in the sun. It was mellow skiing, but good corn down low. I ended up bushwhacking a bit to a teepee at the bottom and found a trail back to the road. This place is so beautiful! Let’s talk about something. Has this ever happened to you? You see a stunning photo of a breathtaking location and decide, “I want to see this for myself.” But when you arrive at the place you experience an “expectation vs reality” slump. I’ve encountered this situation many times🙃 Initially, I blamed the photographer who took this photo, assuming that they used excessive filters and Photoshop so I believed that this place looked almost exactly as it did in their photos. However, as I’ve been experimenting with editing, my perspective has shifted. These thoughts came to me after reading about Henri Matisse and his piece “Woman with a Hat”. He faced criticism for his use of unnatural colors (come on, the woman in the painting has a blue nose) and unusual shapes. However, his intention was not to accurately depict reality, but to express feelings and emotions. Back to the topic, photography, like painting or music, is a form of expression and not always a reflection of reality, right? When we view a photograph, we see the world through the photographer’s lens. What did he choose to include or exclude from the frame? Is the green grass in the photo its true color, or is it the color the photographer wanted it to be? These are just some of the questions we may ask. But, are these questions necessary, or is it enough to simply see the world through another person’s perspective? I would love to hear your thoughts on this.
