Name that Album (1,969 points), Artist (3,136 points) and Song (60,513 points) This is a live recording of this American band’s 10th studio album. Here is an excerpt from an article, written by Alli Patton for americansongwriter.com, regarding the origin of the band’s name: “Back in 1983 when we were approaching our first gig … We really didn’t know what we were gonna be called,” frontman ... told SPIN, recalling several try-on names like Tijuana Toads, the Corporation, and the Firm. “It was still sort of the punk era back then,” he said, “but we didn’t want to be called something too political like the Dead Kennedys. I’d read somewhere about a group called the ... Hands, which was a name I’d liked, and that led to the BAND.” From movies and drug references to cold sores and cunnilingus, there are several theories surrounding the nonsensical moniker’s origins. Privy to the speculations, MEMBER continued, telling the outlet, “But I’ve had a lot of people come up to me and tell me that they really know where the name comes from. Some folks have told me that I got the name from an old Fred Astaire musical that it supposedly shows up in. Others said we took it from a quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson.” They were placed on Q magazine’s list of the “50 Bands to See Before You Die” in 2002. I would agree. Ity is like a carnival and you can not help but smile during the show. I have seen them somewhere around ten times, it it never gets old. Name that Album (1,969 points), Artist (3,136 points) and Song (60,513 points) This is a greatest hits album from this Icelandic band. The album pulls from all three of theoir studio albums. The band was fronted by a former singer of Tappi Tíkarrass. The trumpter and co-vocalist was a member of the Reykjavík City Council. There seems to be some debate about the following, but word on the street is that the band formed the day that the singer gave birth to her son. This is an excerpt from the band’s encyclopedia.com entry: “BAND make music that is very much like Iceland itself,” David Fricke wrote in Rolling Stone, “a collision of extremes that can be at once forbidding and mysteriously compelling.” What is startling and singular in the Sugarcubes’ world—both in their country and their music—is a tenacious independent spirit. “I think we are mostly trying to entertain ourselves in our music,” lead singer ... told Robert Hilburn of the Los Angeles Times. “We want to make music we enjoy.” My partner and I saw the band as part of a lineup that included New Order and PIL. The show was June 30, 1989. I believe that it was the first show that we attended together. Name that Album (1,969 points), Artist (3,136 points) and Song (60,513 points) This is the 4th album by this British band. The following was pulled from a Fred Garratt-Stanley authored article for rolingstone.co.uk: “We set ourselves big challenges, in the studio, on stage, during the visual process of realising everything, and I think it really pays dividends. If we were just like ‘Go into a studio, make a song, let someone else make the video, turn up and play it live and then go home again,’ that’s just not the all-encompassing experience we want from being in the music industry.” This exhaustive approach has been the driving force behind Jungle’s global success. Scan the comments below any of their videos on YouTube and you’ll be struck by the passion and emotional attachment fans in every corner of the world feel towards the pair. The feverish sense of hype and intrigue that surrounded their early releases (when the fresh, powerful sound of tracks like 2013’s .. was only intensified by the fact that the pair loosely obscured their own identities) has been gradually replaced by a firmer bond. And that’s a reflection of how hard ... work on every inch of their art. Visuals are central to the journey; from the release of ... to the unveiling of two brand-new narrative-driven pieces (.. in the run-up to ALBUM, their music videos have consistently been structured around explosive, intricately choreographed dance performances. As MEMBERS have taken BAND from an exciting bedroom-pop outlet to one of the most respected global dance music acts of the past decade, this visual element of their music has remained central throughout.” Year of Original Release: 2023 Photo 1 - Soundclip from Side A, Song 1 Photo 2 - Closeup of album cover Photo 3 - Pause before reveal Photo 4 - Full album cover #album #albumoftheday #instvinyl #nowspinning #onmyturntable #record #recordcollection #recordcollector #recordcollectors #recordoftheday #records #vinyl #vinyladdiction #vinylcollection #vinylcollectionpost #vinylcollector #vinylcommunity #vinylig #vinyligclub #vinyligcommunity #vinyljunkies #vinylloversunite #vinyloftheday #vinylrecords #guessthatalbum #albumquiz

Name that Album (1,969 points), Artist (3,136 points) and Song (60,513 points) This is a recording of live and studio recordings (recorded in 1975) by this Japanese band. The following was pulled from Rolf Semprebon’s bio ofg the band for allmusic.com: “..., were one of the earliest and most revolutionary Japanese psychedelic rock bands, and existed off and on through four decades, they are also one of the most obscure, barely known even in their native country. This cult of noise terrorists shrouded themselves in mystery, seldom touring and releasing no proper studio albums. Their sound presages the later psychedelic experimental noise of Fushitsusha, High Rise, Acid Mothers Temple, and others more than any other Japanese psychedelic group from the late ‘60s. Most of the recordings bearing the group’s name are unofficial bootlegs, but a handful of authorized releases surfaced in 1991, including ‘77 Live, one of their most well-known works. These were reissued in 2022, along with The Oz Tapes, recorded in 1973. ... Not only did they use massive amounts of feedback at loud volumes, their stage shows used strobe lights, mirror balls, and other effects for a live experience that was a total sensory assault.”” Founding member is cited in Susumu Kurosawa’s book “Psychedelia in Japan” as saying “Sometimes we hold a guitar, sometimes we hold protests, variety is good, but protest songs are a bore.” Year of Original Release: 2023 Photo 1 - Soundclip from Side A, Song 1 Photo 2 - Closeup of album cover Photo 3 - Pause before reveal Photo 4 - Full album cover #album #albumoftheday #instvinyl #nowspinning #onmyturntable #record #recordcollection #recordcollector #recordcollectors #recordoftheday #records #vinyl #vinyladdiction #vinylcollection #vinylcollectionpost #vinylcollector #vinylcommunity #vinylig #vinyligclub #vinyligcommunity #vinyljunkies #vinylloversunite #vinyloftheday #vinylrecords #guessthatalbum #albumquiz

Name that Album (1,969 points), Artist (3,136 points) and Song (60,513 points) This appears to be the 8th studio album by this American band. In reading a npr.org article, I learned that the band arose from Tripping Daisy. That same article also said this about the inception of the band: ”... formed the BAND partly as a reaction to Berggren’s death, in his search for light in the darkness. DeLaughter was also inspired by ‘60s vocal groups like the Fifth Dimension and later by the soaring sound of the Electric Light Orchestra.” In an interview (conducted by Ayesha Rascoe) also for NPR.org, the lead singer says this when asked about the loving nature theme of the album: “Well, I love nature. I actually find a lot of my spiritual alignment in it. You know, I often say this about, you know, the grass that grows in the street where cars are just driving over it daily, but seems like in the middle of this concrete, this blade of grass is growing and flourishing and is alive in the worst circumstances. Or, you know, you’re driving by a park, and there’s a tree that basically absorbed the chain-link fence that it was planted by. And it doesn’t even notice these things. It just continues to live and be vibrant and do what it has to do. I identify with that. Things - the struggles that we go through as human beings - they’re things that you just kind of absorb and keep moving forward and keep growing. And those little reminders are all over the place outside.” During a quick count, on wikipedia, it appears as if the band has 25 current and 93 previous members (including St. Vincent aka Annie Clark). Name that Album (1,969 points), Artist (3,136 points) and Song (60,513 points) I have struggled to find this American duo’s discography. But this appears to be the 7th full length release by them. I learned of them via their work with Animal Collective, Sun City Girls and Sunn O))). The duo ha worked togther for 20+ years. Durimg that time they have collaborated on sound installations (including Spokane River Sound Action), music for orchestra, choir, and mixed ensembles. Here is an excerpt from the album’s listing on monrailmusic.com: “The album’s opener, ... , is a composition built around the phrase “inside the eclipse”, drawn from Theresa Hak Kyung Cha’s novel, Dictee, and follows the Korean American writer’s suggestions of method and technique. Leaving aching silences between each utterance – SINGERS’s sparse vocal interventions mirrored by MEMBER’s delicate viola tones – the piece’s collective elements produces a remarkable tension, bubbling within its spacious calm. ... A startlingly gesture of contemporary experimentalism and minimalism, Azure pushes us to find a deeper rhythm; to move, grow, and form our listening bodies towards each composition.” Year of Original Release: 2023 Photo 1 - Soundclip from Side A, Song 1 Photo 2 - Closeup of album cover Photo 3 - Pause before reveal Photo 4 - Full album cover #album #albumoftheday #instvinyl #nowspinning #onmyturntable #record #recordcollection #recordcollector #recordcollectors #recordoftheday #records #vinyl #vinyladdiction #vinylcollection #vinylcollectionpost #vinylcollector #vinylcommunity #vinylig #vinyligclub #vinyligcommunity #vinyljunkies #vinylloversunite #vinyloftheday #vinylrecords #guessthatalbum #albumquiz

Name that Album (1,969 points), Artist (3,136 points) and Song (60,513 points) This is the 17th studio album from this American band. The only consistmnet member of the group, began releasing music while working as a nurse in a California state hospital. The name of the band is pulled from “Big Yellow Coat”, a Screamin’ Jay Hawkins’ song. The leda singer said this of the album: “This album began life as a rock opera about a besieged seaside community called Riversend ruled by a benevolent wizard, for which some five to seven songs were written. As I worked on the Riversend stuff, weird noir visions started creeping in… I thought these moods helped complicate the wizards and dragons a little, and, as I thought about my wizard, his health failing, the invasion by sea almost certain to wipe out half his people, I thought about what such a person might look like in the real world: watching a country show at a midwestern casino, or tryout pitching for an American League team years after having lit up the marquees.” The band’s cover of “Little Boxes” (Weeds theme song) was used in episode 5 of the 8th season. It was always fun to try and guess the band performed the song. Name that Album (1,969 points), Artist (3,136 points) and Song (60,513 points) This is the debut album by this Irish band. I learned the origin of the band’s name via a review of the album on notransmission.com:”BAND (which translates from Irish to ‘bold’) are a five-piece intersectional feminist band named after the 16th Century Irish pirate Gráinne Mhaol (a figure who has become something of a renewed feminist icon in modern-day Ireland).” Pulled from the album’s listing on mergerecords.com: “ALBUM is an album about social connection, queerness, and healing, taking the listener on a journey through various stages of self-acceptance and community-building. The Guardian agreed, calling ALBUM “a series of moments that centre on intersectional feminism and reclamation of power, underpinned by a soundtrack of clattering drums and jagged, dissonant guitars.” Here is a quote from Zoe who composed the video for the Merge-exclusoive track: “ ... emphasizes the significance of finding moments of peace and joy amidst the whirlwind of touring life. Whether it’s going to Lidl in an unfamiliar city, assembling a mega Kinder Surprise egg with just your mouth, an antiseptic duck robot lurking in a Hamburgian mall, or the quiet reflection on the fate of a dog once overworked and now resting in the stillness of a freezer, these are the ephemeral gems that shine through the chaos.” Year of Original Release: 2023 Photo 1 - Soundclip from Side A, Song 1 Photo 2 - Closeup of album cover Photo 3 - Pause before reveal Photo 4 - Full album cover #album #albumoftheday #instvinyl #nowspinning #onmyturntable #record #recordcollection #recordcollector #recordcollectors #recordoftheday #records #vinyl #vinyladdiction #vinylcollection #vinylcollectionpost #vinylcollector #vinylcommunity #vinylig #vinyligclub #vinyligcommunity #vinyljunkies #vinylloversunite #vinyloftheday #vinylrecords #guessthatalbum #albumquiz

Name that Album (1,969 points), Artist (3,136 points) and Song (60,513 points) This is the 9th studio album by this Icelandic musician. The artist said this when discussing the album: “” #If you feel this world is not heading the right way, you have to be DIY and make a little fortress.” While the album’s press release says this: “The arrangement on the album flits and flutters everywhere, hard to grasp, much like modern classical composer Olivier Messiaen’s serialist compositions or even his ones composed to mimic birdsong. All throughout the album, we hear the singing of birds called the Montezuma Oropendola—the one that sounds like a Moog synth in a microwave—and the Musician Wren, whose call is one of a few birds that sings in melodies similar to human music. We hear all this breath rushing through metal, wood, plastic, cartilage, and muscle, all in largely minor, dissonant modes.” The album earned the musician their 8th straight Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album. I learned today that there was a USB version of the album that included 14 hand-carved wooden flutes that imitate various bird calls. I did a quick search and could not find any for sale but in January 2022 the boxset was sold for $1,276.60. Name that Album (1,969 points), Artist (3,136 points) and Song (60,513 points) This is the debut album by this Swedish band. I picked this up to the fact that the last track on the album is titled after a Philip K. Dick novel. The following was pulled from an article/interview penned by Ernie Paik for barkinglegs.org: “One exuberant, up-and-coming Swedish free jazz outfit is BAND... PERCUSSIONIST aid the following: “There’s definitely stuff going on in the Swedish free jazz/improvised scene. At the same time, the opportunities for bands like us to play are mostly made by ambitious individuals with a D.I.Y. way of thinking. People that arrange concerts with their own bands, friends’ bands and other bands they like are very important for the scene. BAND has always been a D.I.Y. kind of band, and we’re trying to be a part of making the experimental scene grow as much as we can. ... When asked about improve methods: “Sometimes we work with some kind of concept, sometimes we improvise from a set form, but the general idea with BAND is to clear our minds and see where that takes us. We trust each other, sort of.”” The following was pulled from the album’s listing on bandcamp: “BAND was born in the summer of 2011 out of a desire to create music in the moment. To take a break from entirely composed and thought-out music, MEMBER and MEMBER created a private sanctuary in a dirty rehearsal room on the outskirts of Gothenburg. Recordings were made, but it was not until the end of 2012 when MEMBER joined with his double bass as the trio started doing gigs.” Year of Original Release: 2014 Photo 1 - Soundclip from Side A, Song 1 Photo 2 - Closeup of album cover Photo 3 - Pause before reveal Photo 4 - Full album cover #album #albumoftheday #instvinyl #nowspinning #onmyturntable #record #recordcollection #recordcollector #recordcollectors #recordoftheday #records #vinyl #vinyladdiction #vinylcollection #vinylcollectionpost #vinylcollector #vinylcommunity #vinylig #vinyligclub #vinyligcommunity #vinyljunkies #vinylloversunite #vinyloftheday #vinylrecords #guessthatalbum #albumquiz

The band also includfed two members of Naked Raygun. The following are excerpt’s from the album’s liner notes writtem ny the lead singer: “... Lyrics seemed a necessity, so we had them, but the subject matter was an extension of our interests —not part of a political or aesthetic battle plan. ... Anybody who thinks we overstepped the playground perimeter of lyrical decency (or that the public has any right to demand “”social responsibility”” from a goddamn punk rock band) is a pure natural dolt, and should step forward and put his tongue up my ***. What we sing about is none of your business anyway. Organizationally, we were committed to a few basic principles: Treat everyone with as much respect as he deserves (and no more), Avoid people who appeal to our vanity or ambition (they always have an angle), Operate as much as possible apart from 1 the “music scene” (which was never our stomping ground), and Take no **** from anyone in the process. It meant nothing to us if we were popular or not, or if we sold either a million or no records, so we were invulnerable to ploys by music scene weasels to get us to make mistakes in the name of success. To us, every moment we remained unfettered and in control was a success.” Year of Original Release: 1992 Photo 1 - Soundclip from Side A, Song 1 Photo 2 - Closeup of album cover Photo 3 - Pause before reveal Photo 4 - Full album cover #album #albumoftheday #instvinyl #nowspinning #onmyturntable #record #recordcollection #recordcollector #recordcollectors #recordoftheday #records #vinyl #vinyladdiction #vinylcollection #vinylcollectionpost #vinylcollector #vinylcommunity #vinylig #vinyligclub #vinyligcommunity #vinyljunkies #vinylloversunite #vinyloftheday #vinylrecords #guessthatalbum #albumquiz

Name that Album (1,969 points), Artist (3,136 points) and Song (60,513 points) This is the 2nd LP by this American band. The following was pulled from Rich Cocksedge’s review of the album on punknews.org: ”... The members of the band have obviously been hugely influenced by some of the noisier bands that featured on labels like Am Rep and Homestead back in the ‘80s and ‘90s, but rather than just rehashing an approach that worked so well back then, they’ve injected their music with enough of their own stamp to be able to stand alone as a thunderstorm of noise that it contains both nostalgic and contemporary components. ..., TRACK 1 immediately sets the tone for the whole album: big guitar sound, albeit with the ability to move away from the crushing chords at times into a more jarring sound, drums that take a significant pounding throughout and a brooding bass that throbs away to add a huge amount of depth to the music. ...’s vocals really do bring out memories of Steve Albini, a master of this kind of music, although occasionally I do hear comparisons to Jeff Pezatti, so there really is a big Chicago influence running through this band/release. In fact at times it does sound like a cross between Big Black and Naked Raygun (check out SONG for a prime example of this), more than coming across like any other of the Am Rep-style bands ... BAND quite clearly know how to produce a suitable aural assault whilst being able to provide more than just a blistering white noise: there are numerous layers throughout that allow the listener to dig beneath the initial smack in the face, thus making this more than a throwaway piece of work.” Year of Original Release: 2011 Photo 1 - Soundclip from Side A, Song 1 Photo 2 - Closeup of album cover Photo 3 - Pause before reveal Photo 4 - Full album cover #album #albumoftheday #instvinyl #nowspinning #onmyturntable #record #recordcollection #recordcollector #recordcollectors #recordoftheday #records #vinyl #vinyladdiction #vinylcollection #vinylcollectionpost #vinylcollector #vinylcommunity #vinylig #vinyligclub #vinyligcommunity #vinyljunkies #vinylloversunite #vinyloftheday #vinylrecords #guessthatalbum #albumquiz

The following was pulled from swampbooking.com: “...trades in washes of reverb for starker moments of closeness and intimacy. An exploration of the personal inventory and reckoning necessary to move forward in life, the LP considers not only how we relate to the world, but more importantly how we relate to ourselves. ...While always distinct, you could previously detect post-punk, shoegaze, and dub sensibilities in the music. Dreamy drift tethered by skittered beats, airy vocals, and melancholic melodies are here like previous efforts too. ... steps into new territory with an expanse of vaporous synths and samples, adding to the project’s ethereal electronic pop and dubwise pulse. Lush guitars glisten throughout the album, but this time only in sparse, disciplined embellishments. ‘ALBUM is a fully realised version of BAND beyond its influences; to say that this is a seamless evocation of such disparate sounds as Massive Attack, Basic Channel, Sade, Seefeel and Dif Juz is to say it is wholly unique.” Year of Original Release: 2023 Photo 1 - Soundclip from Side A, Song 1 Photo 2 - Closeup of album cover Photo 3 - Pause before reveal Photo 4 - Full album cover #album #albumoftheday #instvinyl #nowspinning #onmyturntable #record #recordcollection #recordcollector #recordcollectors #recordoftheday #records #vinyl #vinyladdiction #vinylcollection #vinylcollectionpost #vinylcollector #vinylcommunity #vinylig #vinyligclub #vinyligcommunity #vinyljunkies #vinylloversunite #vinyloftheday #vinylrecords #guessthatalbum #albumquiz

Name that Compilation (1,969 points), Artist (3,136 points) and Song (60,513 points) This album compiles this English bands 2022 single-a-month series. This project produced two singles each month for the year. The lead singer has said this of the project: “When it came to compiling the ALBUM, I decided not to sequence the tracks in chronological order. With six sides of vinyl, you have six ‘beginnings’ and six ‘ends’ to play with, and I felt that the opportunity to build some kind of a musical journey was too good to miss! Listening back to this collection, I have to say that I genuinely believe that, for this project, The BAND have recorded some of the best tracks in our history. I loved releasing the singles, but it’s satisfying to have them all rounded up together.” In the John Darling’s book ‘What’s in a Name?: The Book of Bands’, the lead singer says this of the band’s name: “I’ve always thought that BAND was an inappropriate name for a pop group—more like a poem, or a book or something—and therefore quite attractive (to me!). I’ve also always been fascinated by Weddings... those surreal performances where the audience plays an integral part ... that ugly pagan concept of the father handing over his daughter to her new master..., the page boys crying because they have to wear such stupid clothes...” Fun Fact: In 1992 the band had eighteen singles in the top 40 of the UK Singles Chart, tying Elvis for most in the year. Formed in the early ‘90s in Delaware, ... defined their own musical stylings with blues, rock, and gospel and a rock & roll so real it introduced itself. Playing countless shows across the nation molded a devoted following as well as attention from punk pioneer Jello Biafra. BAND and Biafra met up in 1995 and together he and the band formed a working union...” While Tom Semioli’s review of the album says this: “This prolific stoner rock ensemble continues to kick out the jams with ALBUM, a raucous party album that honestly melds soul, blues, grunge, and garage rock. , BAND play clamorous, dirty, and spirited. Akin to their ancestors, what the band lacks in finesse they make up for in bombast. The guitar riffs go no further than Willie Dixon while singer ... wails as if James Brown and Howlin’ Wolf were standing right behind him. Like all great American bands BAND draws from a deep well of contradictory influences. The psychedelic acid groove of “SONG,” the cowpunk of “SONG” and “SONG,” the primal heavy metal of “SONG,” and the amphetamine-fueled funk of “SONG” prove beyond a reasonable doubt that there is no better cultural melting-pot than rock & roll. There are three ways to hear this album: loud, louder, and loudest.” Year of Original Release: 2001 Photo 1 - Soundclip from Side A, Song 1 Photo 2 - Closeup of album cover Photo 3 - Pause before reveal Photo 4 - Full album cover #album #albumoftheday #instvinyl #nowspinning #onmyturntable #record #recordcollection #recordcollector #recordcollectors #recordoftheday #records #vinyl #vinyladdiction #vinylcollection #vinylcollectionpost #vinylcollector #vinylcommunity #vinylig #vinyligclub #vinyligcommunity #vinyljunkies #vinylloversunite #vinyloftheday #vinylrecords #guessthatalbum #albumquiz

According to wikipedia.com, the singer responded to an add in the Recycler where this band was recruiting a drummer. The band palyed with The Cult and Minutemen. The band also opened the 1985 Gila Monster Jamboree. Also on the bill were: Sonic Youth, Meat Puppets and Redd Kross. According to the documentary Desolation Center, BAND only got the gig because SINGER was roommates with the Stuart, and he helped with setting up the show onsite. SINGER has noted that the Desolation Center shows were an early influence of the future Lollapalooza festival shows. Name that Album (1,969 points), Artist (3,136 points) and Song (60,513 points) This is the debut album by this Japanese band. I just came to know of the band in December. I was talking to an album shop owner and he put this album on. My ears inndeitaly perked up and fortunately the shop had a copy available. I am not sure how I have missed this in the last 45 years. The following was pulled from a theguardian.com article penned by John Lewis: “Over the next three decades, their influence cropped up in odd areas: producer Todd Rundgren had a BAND album on the wall of his studio for inspiration; Eric Clapton’s unlikely cover version of ... was a huge international hit; while the arcade-game bleeps and oriental scales in their music went on to influence 21st-century electronica acts such as Dizzee Rascal and Kieran Hebden, who weren’t even born when BAND were formed. Meanwhile, in Japan, they were bigger than the Beatles. ... MEMBER and MEMBER in particular were always obsessed with Japanese cultural identity. The band’s name is a sly joke at Japan’s obsession with black magic (“PARTIAL BAND NAME was halfway between white magic and black magic,” says MEMBER. “Actually, it’s a stupid name, isn’t it?”), and the band constantly explored notions of Asianness, exoticisation and orientalism.” Fun Fact: The band pereformed on Soul Train in 1980. Name that Album (1,969 points), Artist (3,136 points) and Song (60,513 points) This is the 3rd studio LP by this British band. I learned of this band via “10 rising music acts we think you’ll love” on theface.com. For this entry on the list, Davy Reed said the following: “BAND are the best new band in London, but they’ve been pretty quiet about it. Since releasing their first EP in 2020, they’ve not yet done a single interview. And, as is typical of artists affiliated with Dean Blunt (who’s put out a lot of their stuff via his World Music label), BAND’s identity is partially concealed with grainy, lo-fi visuals. Redditers were quick to spot that BAND is based around the core trio of ..., who also form the post-rock duo Double Virgo. Together they make jagged art rock and grey-scale dream-pop, while their ghostly vocals conjure a sad and alluring world that feels just out of reach.” The album made it onrto several best of 2023 lists, including: AllMusic’s favorite alternative and indie albums of 2023, BrooklynVegan Indie Basement’s 40 best independent albums and Rolling Stone’s 40 best indie rock albums of 2023. Name that Album (1,969 points), Artist (3,136 points) and Song (60,513 points) This is the first fully colloborative album from this cellist and composer (born Alison Chesley) and second composer. The cellist was a part of Verbow, which is how I came to know of her. The following was pulled from the album’s listing on bandcamp.com: “MEMBER and MEMBER are masters of invoking emotional atmospheres. Their music paints in vibrant hues with outlines blurred, often using dense layers of processed instruments and textural ambience as a backdrop for harmonic tension and melodies. ALBUM is thrillingly cinematic. Each piece tells a compelling story through ratcheting suspense, twisting shifts, unfurling arcs, and blissful repose. ... ALBUM is a masterclass in sound design. MEMBER’s formidable skill as a cellist and composer ground the compositions with rich organic sounds of cello and bow. MEMBER’s equally deft hand manipulated electronics, keyboards create potent frameworks that bolster the sense of mystery and searching across the album. ... On ALBUM, the duo utilize timbre, tone and dynamics as essential tools in crafting stunning emotive narratives. Together, the duo wield sound with inquisitive aplomb, burrowing into each other’s sonic aesthetics and unearthing irrefutable beauty.“ Year of Original Release: 2023 Photo 1 - Soundclip from Side A, Song 1 Photo 2 - Closeup of album cover Photo 3 - Pause before reveal Photo 4 - Full album cover #album #albumoftheday #instvinyl #nowspinning #onmyturntable #record #recordcollection #recordcollector #recordcollectors #recordoftheday #records #vinyl #vinyladdiction #vinylcollection #vinylcollectionpost #vinylcollector #vinylcommunity #vinylig #vinyligclub #vinyligcommunity #vinyljunkies #vinylloversunite #vinyloftheday #vinylrecords #guessthatalbum #albumquiz

Name that Album (1,969 points), Artist (3,136 points) and Song (60,513 points) This is the debut album by this English band. According to ”Are We Not Men? We Are Devo!”, written by Jade Dellinger & David Giffels, Richard Branson (Virgin) had thought that SINGER should front Devo. I learned today that the original guitarist was an original member of The Clash. In the lead singers 2008 aural history of punk, SURNAME: No Irish, No Blacks, No Dogs, he cites a Muriel Spark’s book as the inspiration of the band’s name. In the album’s listing in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die, Stevie Chick writes: ”... was more than just the post-... project of punk’s totemic figurehead; guitarist ..., bassist ..., and drummer ... sculpted a noise that pushed the primitivism of punk rock in an experimental direction, pointing new directions. ... “SONG,” was anything but. A pulverizing dirge colored by turbulent hurricanes of distortion, its funereal stomp set the intensity bleeding into the red, SINGER’s unearthly howls and screams of “LYRIC” illuminating the bleakness of post-punk England, ... guitar poisonously eloquent. Catharsis was key: ... But while ALBUM was certainly a dark, unwelcoming record, the vitality of its candor and its bloody-minded pursuit of a different future made it a highly influential-and still highly unsettling-album.” I learned today that ALBUM was not officially released in the States until 34 years after its original release. Name that Album (1,969 points), Artist (3,136 points) and Song (60,513 points) This the 2nd studio album by this English band. The band was named fro a short-lived Swiss nuhclub where the Dada movement was fostered. The following was pulled from wikipedia.com: “The trio would deploy to various parts of Sheffield with their portable tape recorders and play their experimental compositions in places as diverse as public toilets and on the streets from loudspeakers on the top of a friend’s van. This raucous and punkish attitude followed the band onstage to great effect; their first live concert in May 1975 ended in a fight between the band and the audience that sent SINGER to hospital.” The band was included in Alternative Press’ 1996 list of “100 underground inspirations of the past 20 years.” Steven Grant & David Sheridan, writing for trouserpress.com , said this of the album: “ALBUM is the group’s first explicit venture into non-Western musical forms. The Arabic material used is successfully developed into a chant, and then its structure is applied to a new work. The record also marks a shift in technique, as musical demands take precedence over production to strange and beautiful effect.” Year of Original Release: 1980 Photo 1 - Soundclip from Side A, Song 1 Photo 2 - Closeup of album cover Photo 3 - Pause before reveal Photo 4 - Full album cover #album #albumoftheday #instvinyl #nowspinning #onmyturntable #record #recordcollection #recordcollector #recordcollectors #recordoftheday #records #vinyl #vinyladdiction #vinylcollection #vinylcollectionpost #vinylcollector #vinylcommunity #vinylig #vinyligclub #vinyligcommunity #vinyljunkies #vinylloversunite #vinyloftheday #vinylrecords #guessthatalbum #albumquiz

Name that Album (1,969 points), Artist (3,136 points) and Song (60,513 points) This is the 8th studio album by this German band. The band was spawned from a West German political art commune that partook in free-form musical improvisations. In an interview, conducted by Jason Gross for furious.com, the guitarist said this when asked about their political and social values: “...In fact, we used to play at the sit-ins and teach-ins in the universities and academies. We were looking for a new way of living together in a free and creative way. We knew about the severe dangers of industrial life, ‘cause industry usually develops the consciousness of an amoeba: eat and grow only. We knew that human beings sooner or later would be sacrificed on the altar of greed. ... Together we were so much stronger, and of course we were visible to the outside. We couldn’t be absorbed so easily by the mass and could start an individual experiment like BAND. BAND was never a radical political art commune. It was and is a social experiment ... We always stated that we wanted to try something new, and everybody who was interested could join in, come to see our concerts, be part of it, ... Freedom for everybody was the aim. .... Every real lasting development can only come through increasing consciousness. Our concerts ..., but happenings with music. ... The concerts were just the framework for a meeting of people with the same intention. In fact I remember many concerts, when we handed out simple instruments that everybody could use, like bongos or tambourines, to the audience, so they could celebrate the music with us.” Year of Original Release: 1974 Photo 1 - Soundclip from Side A, Song 1 Photo 2 - Closeup of album cover Photo 3 - Pause before reveal Photo 4 - Full album cover #album #albumoftheday #instvinyl #nowspinning #onmyturntable #record #recordcollection #recordcollector #recordcollectors #recordoftheday #records #vinyl #vinyladdiction #vinylcollection #vinylcollectionpost #vinylcollector #vinylcommunity #vinylig #vinyligclub #vinyligcommunity #vinyljunkies #vinylloversunite #vinyloftheday #vinylrecords #guessthatalbum #albumquiz

(best known for her role in the BBC’S Grange Hill) along with record producer ... and bass guitarist ... was a brave and pioneering pop trio that blended traditional music from the Indian sub-continent with 80s British pop. Additionally, they drew on the best musicians they could find from both East and West. The band originated in 1980 when keyboard player and producer ... developed an interest in Indian music. Hoping to form a band to pursue this direction, he discovered ... via some demo tapes which she had recorded for Hansa Records when she was 14. ... joined BNAD in March 1981, three months before she left school. Name that Album (1,969 points), Artist (3,136 points) and Song (60,513 points) This is the debut album from this English band. The band spawned The Listening Pool which has three members of this band. This album has a re-recorded track from The Id. That same song was the 6th release for Factory Records. One half of the founding duo is quoted (recordcollectingmag.com) as saying the following about this album: “Our debut: a collection of songs MEMBER and I and a couple of other people from previous bands we’d been in in our teens had written with no ambition or belief they’d be heard by anybody other than ourselves. It started out pretty ambient with just bass guitar and MEMBER making things out of his aunt’s radios cannibalised for the circuit boards, then once we got a cheap electric piano and organ, we subconsciously wrote tunes. Dindisc signed us on the back of the SONG single and we built our own studio in an abandoned warehouse in Liverpool with our advance because we thought there was no way in hell anyone was going to buy an album. So when we got dropped for selling no records, we’d at least have a studio. We recorded it in three weeks and were utterly surprised when we had a hit with it. This was not much more than a year after we’d played our first gig at Eric’s, where we had just dared ourselves to go up and play one gig with a crazy name. To this day, I think half the people bought it for the Peter Saville sleeve.” Year of Original Release: 1980 Photo 1 - Soundclip from Side A, Song 1 Photo 2 - Closeup of album cover Photo 3 - Pause before reveal Photo 4 - Full album cover #album #albumoftheday #instvinyl #nowspinning #onmyturntable #record #recordcollection #recordcollector #recordcollectors #recordoftheday #records #vinyl #vinyladdiction #vinylcollection #vinylcollectionpost #vinylcollector #vinylcommunity #vinylig #vinyligclub #vinyligcommunity #vinyljunkies #vinylloversunite #vinyloftheday #vinylrecords #guessthatalbum #albumquiz

Name that Album (1,969 points), Artist (3,136 points) and Song (60,513 points) This is the 3rd studio album by this English band who grew out of The Id . According to BAND.uk.com, the origins of the band’s name stems from: “The title actually dates back to the mid to late 70’s when MEMBER and MEMBER were first experimenting under their VCL XI guise. BAND was one of these early compositions and, according to MEMBER, featured “three radios and war noises recorded off the telly”. One half of the founding duo is quoted (recordcollectingmag.com) as saying the following about this album: “The first song we did for the album was ... That came from ..., ..., but he knocked on my studio door – he’d been recording a choir,... asked if I could make tape loops from his recordings? ... if I did, I could have a copy for payment. I started messing around with them and suddenly I had SONG. I was a reluctant singer but sang it because MEMBER was on holiday. I got so excited ... track I thought I’d throw some vocal ideas down. I played it to MEMBER ... he said, ‘I don’t need to sing this, it’s perfect as it is.’ Because we really enjoyed the choral thing, we then bought a Mellotron, so we were able to merge these orchestral, choral sounds with raw synths. “We found the ALBUM book [by David Watkin] and we saw it as a metaphor for BAND: the architecture as the rigid electronic structure and the morality was the beauty and emotion created by the orchestral choral sound. As kids we’d wanted to be Kraftwerk, but as we went on, we wanted to do something with a bit more soul, emotion, melancholy. ... There have always been two sides to BAND.” Year of Original Release: 1981 Photo 1 - Soundclip from Side A, Song 1 Photo 2 - Closeup of album cover Photo 3 - Pause before reveal Photo 4 - Full album cover #album #albumoftheday #instvinyl #nowspinning #onmyturntable #record #recordcollection #recordcollector #recordcollectors #recordoftheday #records #vinyl #vinyladdiction #vinylcollection #vinylcollectionpost #vinylcollector #vinylcommunity #vinylig #vinyligclub #vinyligcommunity #vinyljunkies #vinylloversunite #vinyloftheday #vinylrecords #guessthatalbum #albumquiz

Name that Album (1,969 points), Artist (3,136 points) and Song (60,513 points) I am not sure where this falls within this Irish bands discography. However, it is a live recording from a December 7, 1984 show held at Massey Hall (capacity 2,800) in Toronto, Canada. The band released their fourth album earlier that year and this date was in support of that album. This appears to be an album that was only available to the band’s Taiwanese Fan Club. It looks like the Waterboys opened for the band. I found this comment about the show: At this concert several female fans run on stage to hug the band members. SINGER gets upset as excited fans whistle and howl through some of the quieter songs. He stops the band in the middle of ‘SONG’ to chasitise the crowd by telling them, ‘This is not The Beatles or the Bay City Rollers!’ Brian Eno is also in attendance. Year of Original Release: 1984? Here is an excerpt from the band’s bio penned by Steven Grant, Ira Robbins & Brad Reno’s for trouserpress.com: “Originally lost in the gap between glam-rock and punk, BAND became prime movers of the electro-pop and new romantic movements when they combined synthesizer with the direct and danceable pop music of the new wave. ...ALBUM draws closer to punk’s spirit, filled as it is with tight, straightforward rockers outlining a spirit of alienation and life free of love, companionship and comprehension. Billy Currie plays stunning electric violin and, on the climactic “SONG,” introduces full-force synthesizer into BAND’s music, delineating the boundary between past and future.” The original singer said this of the band: “We were “pre-punk” before punk had started too! People weren’t ready. We were listening to Roxy Music, Bowie, Krautrock… we had a wider palette. But punk broke barriers, and they needed to be broken.” I have seen the closing track on the album is being credited as the first full-fledged synthpop/new-wave song in rock history. I also learned that she was the musical guest on the 8th episode of SNL. Name that Compilation (1,969 points), Artist (7,456 points) and Song (60,513 points) I do love a good comp, especially when it is so specific. Here is an excerpt from the album’s listing: “The real, great rock’n’roll swindle? You’d better search Belgium, and more specifically somewhere near Lou Deprijck and Yvan Lacomblez, two born-and-bred “Brusselians”. If their names don’t ring a bell at first glance, you’ve most likely already wiggled to their interplanetary hit “Ça Plane Pour Moi”: A moronic song by a crappy singer... The prank swept through the world and within a few months, no less than one million 45s were sold just in France. It spawned mass-produced cover versions, becoming a universal punk anthem. Of course, such a cash cow would arouse envy and create quite a few vocations among our fellow countrymen. The song’s trademark derision was about to bridge the missing link between original punk — too violent, too dirty — and the general public eager to enjoy a little Saturday-night pogo. Humor became the magic bullet to conquer a frightened audience. ... Anything served as a pretext to be punker than punk – who cares if grotesqueness and ridiculousness were constantly flirted with, what we want is good laugh (and a shitload of cash!). ... So, as would say Pierô who opens the comp: “Hey guys, got your guitars out of tune? let’s play PUNK today! and start up the infernal machine. Formed from the remains of local punk heroes The Noise, the four-piece took their original inspiration from the old-school DIY ethic of bands such as The Clash and Slaughter And The Dogs. ... and ... moved on in early 1980 and were replaced by ... and ... respectively. Following an incident at a football match the band took an enforced hiatus at Her Majesty’s Pleasure. When they re-emerged, Snakey took to wearing a balaclava on stage and their style morphed towards the crowd-pleasing chant-along style of Sham 69. ...The results impressed Sounds journalist Garry Bushell enough to pen two articles about the band and subsequently include the track Where’s Dock Green? on the Back On The Streets c.p. that accompanied the third Oi album Oi Oi That’s Yer Lot. Their association with the Oi movement attracted an ever-expanding fanbase of punks and skins that saw previously good-humoured gigs often descend into destruction and violence. The band called it a day in Summer 1982 following their final gig at Swansea’s Townhill Tech.” Also included in the liner notes is the band’s rejection letter from No Future: “Basically no one has never put ‘Listen to this you C***! on a demo tape, they usually put in really creepy letters, well at least it makes a change. ....so I’m I’ve got to return this tape, keep going though, you’ll make it.” Year of Original Release: 2015 Photo 1 - Soundclip from Side A, Song 1 Photo 2 - Closeup of album cover Photo 3 - Pause before reveal Photo 4 - Full album cover #album #albumoftheday #instvinyl #nowspinning #onmyturntable #record #recordcollection #recordcollector #recordcollectors #recordoftheday #records #vinyl #vinyladdiction #vinylcollection #vinylcollectionpost #vinylcollector #vinylcommunity #vinylig #vinyligclub #vinyligcommunity #vinyljunkies #vinylloversunite #vinyloftheday #vinylrecords #guessthatalbum #albumquiz

Name that Compilation (1,969 points), Artist (7,456 points) and Song (60,513 points) Here is an excerpt from the album’s listing on soundsoftheuniverse.com: “Soul Jazz Records’ latest excursion into the Crescent City vaults delves deep into the roots and history of the Voodoo world of PART OF TITLE. Packed to the brim with serious break-heavy, heavyweight funk tunes from classic CITY artists including Eddie Bo, Betty Harris, Dave Bartholomew, Johnny Adams and Eldridge Holmes (with the ever-present Allen Toussaint and The Meters as always behind the scenes). There is also a host of rare cuts from a number of lesser-known second line New Orleans artists, whose fame rarely reached past the walls of the city, including Gus ‘The Groove’ Lewis, James K-Nine, Norma Jean, Bob French, Chuck Colbert, Zilla Mayes and Joe Haywood. In the 1960s the syncopated beat of CITY Funk developed out of a gumbo mix of CITY local flavours – rhythm and blues, Mardi Gras Indians, the street percussion Second Line of the Jazz Funeral and Marching bands, Caribbean rhumba and mambo rhythms – all of which are in full effect. Even Zydeco, the rhythm and blues offspring of Louisiana Cajun music, had the funk as the King of Zydeco, Clifton Chenier, shows us here. CITY music and Voodoo both have their roots in the African-American free black and slave gatherings held at Congo Square from the 18th century onwards. Here Voodoo king Doctor John (the original one!) and Voodoo queen Marie Levaux held court over their followers, and here also could be heard the first sounds of CITY jazz music. Soul Jazz Records’ latest album describes how these two cultural forms are inextricably inter-related.” Year of Original Release: 2016 Photo 1 - Soundclip from Side A, Song 1 Photo 2 - Closeup of album cover Photo 3 - Pause before reveal Photo 4 - Full album cover #album #albumoftheday #instvinyl #nowspinning #onmyturntable #record #recordcollection #recordcollector #recordcollectors #recordoftheday #records #vinyl #vinyladdiction #vinylcollection #vinylcollectionpost #vinylcollector #vinylcommunity #vinylig #vinyligclub #vinyligcommunity #vinyljunkies #vinylloversunite #vinyloftheday #vinylrecords #guessthatalbum #albumquiz

Name that Album (1,969 points), Artist (3,136 points) and Song (60,513 points) This appears to be the lone release by this American rapper and collaborators. Thoose collaborators include: Joel Madden (Good Charlotte), Travis Barker (Blink 182) and Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine). Here is an excerpt from a relver,mag.com article written by Luke Winkie: “Few people in this industry are more prepared for this sort of pivot. ARTIST was born and raised a punk. He’s a lifelong Clash fan, a career skateboarder and a proud radical. The windup to BAND’s unveiling has been marked by a long campaign to push the buttons of everyone involved in America’s regressive and energized far-fight movement “In its essence, rap and punk are the same idea. It’s antiestablishment. It’s counterculture. It’s commentary. Sometimes they deal with the darker aspects of humanity. They’re explosive, they’re volatile,” ARTIST says. “I’ve always seem them as intertwined.” Year of Original Release: 2020 Photo 1 - Soundclip from Side A, Song 1 Photo 2 - Closeup of album cover Photo 3 - Pause before reveal Photo 4 - Full album cover #album #albumoftheday #instvinyl #nowspinning #onmyturntable #record #recordcollection #recordcollector #recordcollectors #recordoftheday #records #vinyl #vinyladdiction #vinylcollection #vinylcollectionpost #vinylcollector #vinylcommunity #vinylig #vinyligclub #vinyligcommunity #vinyljunkies #vinylloversunite #vinyloftheday #vinylrecords #guessthatalbum #albumquiz

Name that Album (1,969 points), Artist (3,136 points) and Song (60,513 points) This is the debut album by the Australian band. The following is an excerpt from a Paul Glynn article for bbc.com: “The band take their name from a mix of her own first name and the liquid chemical drug **** nitrite, ... “In Australia we call poppers ****,” she explains, “So you sniff it, it lasts for 30 seconds and then you have a headache - and that’s what we’re like! “[Our music] It’s just fast, pretty violent but charmingly violent, powerful fun. ... “But I don’t know, whatever you get from it, I don’t really care as long as it’s something.” Earlier in the same article, the lead singer says this of there shows: “I guess I really like it when shows have lots of energy,” states SINGER, “I’m a really energetic person. “Every time i go see a band I love it when everyone is shoving each other and getting all sweaty - to me that’s just really fun. “I like that everyone gets their violence out in a consensual place where you can shove everyone but it’s friendly, whereas any other place if you just shove somebody that would be like ‘what the hell are you doing?’ I can attest to the energized atmosphere after seeing them @saltshedchicago on 10-23-23. Here is an excerpt from the album’s listing on roughtrade.com: “It’s primal and explosive with a love of glam, the 70’s Sharpie movement and good time rock n roll backed with lyrics that somehow are simultaneously bleak and nihilistic, yet humorous and celebratory. The album is full of beefy riffs and stomping drums that rages and rolls and lives up to all the hype. It has attitude, sass and SINGER’s sore throat howl.” Year of Original Release: 2019 Photo 1 - Soundclip from Side A, Song 1 Photo 2 - Closeup of album cover Photo 3 - Pause before reveal Photo 4 - Full album cover #album #albumoftheday #instvinyl #nowspinning #onmyturntable #record #recordcollection #recordcollector #recordcollectors #recordoftheday #records #vinyl #vinyladdiction #vinylcollection #vinylcollectionpost #vinylcollector #vinylcommunity #vinylig #vinyligclub #vinyligcommunity #vinyljunkies #vinylloversunite #vinyloftheday #vinylrecords #guessthatalbum #albumquiz

Book Time🔛📓 The Don Drummond Story - TROMBONE MAN (Hearsay Media, Adam Reeves) @trombonemancomicbook @adamlkreeves Don Drummond was the original trombone player in Jamaican ska legends the Skatalites. As a child he was sent to Jamaica’s renowned Alpha Boys‘ School, a childrens‘ home run by strict Sisters of Mercy nuns. It was here that he learnt to play trombone and was recognised as a young age as being a musical prodigy. He became a major jazz star in Kingston during the early 1950s, but was dogged by mental health problems that led to several long stays in a brutal Victorian style mental asylum. His career was revived in the 1960s with the birth of ska. As the chief composer in the Skatalites he channelled his talents to create timeless ska-jazz instrumental classics. As in-house band at Studio One, the Skatalites backed numerous future giants of ska and reggae such as Bob Marley and the Wailers, Jimmy Cliff, Toots and the Maytals, Desmond Dekker, Alton Ellis, Ken Boothe and many more. Sadly the glory was short lived and Don’s mental health deteriorated, resulting in him murdering his lover, a much loved dancer by the name of Margarita Mahfood. After a lenghty court case, Drummond was declared ‚guilty but insane‘ and spent the rest of his life in Bellevue Mental Asylum. The influence of Don Drummond cannot be underestimated, as the videos on this channel all pay testimony to his towering legacy. Roots to the Bone has interviewed some of the world’s leading reggae and ska trombone players and they all cite Don Drummond as their #1 influence when it comes to Jamaican roots music. #universityofreggae #vinyloftheday #vinylgram #vinyladdicted #vinylcollection #vinylalbum #vinylcommunity #vinylreggae #nowspinning #nowplaying #vinyl #vinyladdict #instvinyl #vinyllover #rootsreggae #reggaemusic #allvinylreggaecollections #reggaevinyl #reggae_vinyl_collectors #reggaevinylcollector #reggaemusic #reggaerecords #instavinyl #booktime #dondrummond

Name that Album (1,969 points), Artist (3,136 points) and Song (60,513 points) This is the 2nd LP by this American band. The lead vocalist is a member of The Kills. The band formed when the members were all in junior high and released ther first single a year after forming. Mike DaRonco’s review of the album, for allmusic.com, says the following: “This has to be heard more than once to be believed. BAND offers some of the most innovative pop-punk ever to come out of Florida: The music isn’t too complex to bore the listener, nor is it anything to be labeled as a generic or flat — it’s just straight and to the point. ...’s crisp vocals and poetic lyrics make their second album, ALBUM, a fantastic effort. Guaranteed that there will be a handful of bands who will want to sound like these guys after hearing this record.” The albums lyric sheet’s “art work, painting, drawing, typying, layout stuff” were done by the lead singer. Name that Album (1,969 points), Artist (3,136 points) and Song (60,513 points) This is a re-release of this American band’s first 2 EPs. I picked this up after seeing the band @saltshedchicago on 10-23-23. The band made their debut in 2022. However, IMHO they will quickly gain an audiance as their live set was incredible. Here is an excerpt from sonicguild.org’s bio of the band: “BAND is a mayhem-inciting force .... The quartet is known for their unruly stage presence, bombarding their crowds with a wall of sound. BAND continues to penetrate the music scene with unparalleled momentum, sharing stages with heavy hitters Amyl and the Sniffers, OFF!, and Destroy Boys. These childhood friends turned musicians have recently premiered two EP’s, ..., capturing this live energy.” As Lee Ackerley of Austin Monthly put it: youthful moxie has never sounded so good”. Name that Album (1,969 points), Artist (3,136 points) and Song (60,513 points) This is the 5th studio album by this American band. I learned of this band via the lead singers interview on show 934 of @soundopinions. Here is an excerpt from an article penned by PATRICK D. MCDERMOTT for oxfordamerican.org: “SINGER’s voice is an arresting instrument. It’s sweet and folksy one second, as jagged as a broken Miller Lite bottle the next. She has the ability to skip notes without forcing it, a yodel-adjacent skill that she has begun crediting to both her Southern upbringing and her Jewish roots; because of its unique scale, a lot of Jewish vocal music showcases a similar note-leaping technique. ... “I’ve never felt good about any genre people try to put us in,” SINGER says when I ask the members of BAND what they think of the “countrygaze” tag.” Mark Deming, writing for allmusic.com, says this of the album: “SINGER’s characters live in a time and place where things don’t go well for most folks. It’s a town where parents barely pay attention to their children, kids with fireworks accidentally set cotton fields on fire, bored teenagers get messed up on Benadryl, guys OD in parking lots and no one seems surprised, and boredom and emptiness are epidemic. ..., SINGER has built an album around tales of life in this dead-end town, and 2023’s ALBUM is a superb evocation of living in the decaying margins of America.” The album finished in the Top 10 of the following year end lists: Consequence, Exclaim!, Paste, Pitchfork, amd Stereogram.
