It's a good question! One which has SO many possible answers! 1. Quality - every item I make is cut by me, sewn by me and quality checked by me. Nothing goes out that I haven't made sure is just right. I also order good quality fabrics that are soft and vibrant for good quality clothes. 2. Longevity - I've always found handmade clothing to run a little on the large side meaning that something will last a lot longer than the size it might say on the label! That alongside the quality of the fabrics used means that handmade clothing can be passed on to siblings and friends and used again and again while still looking amazing! 3. Unique designs - there are SO many beautiful designs and talented designers you can really find anything! No more only pink and unicorns for girls and blue and dinosaurs for boys, you can mix it up! Nothing is set in stone! 4. Matchy matchy goodness - ok. This one is a secret pleasure of mine... Do you want to have a parent and child set of clothes? No problem I can do that! Do you want all the kids to have the same design for matchy matchiness? I can do that too! Do you want a whole family coordinated set? It would be my pleasure! 5. Supporting small business - times are hard for a lot of people at the moment and I've seen a lot of small businesses close which is something that always makes me sad. When you buy handmade you're supporting a small business, and trust me when I say how excited it makes me when I get an order! And then seeing it all made up and photos of it being worn - it's an incredible feeling! I made the decision this year to buy as much as I can from small businesses, I love being able to get clothes from places where I know they've been made with love! All of these are pretty amazing reasons. Does that mean I'm anti high street? No! There's a place for everything. I buy the girls clothes from the high street too! What a day! Today has been the longest day. Ethan is doing his SATs this week at school and we have to be there half an hour earlier than normal so after dropping him off, I literally came back and was sewing well before 9am right through till 3pm pretty much non-stop!
