It's a great day to be at the Most Magical Place on Earth! This bench is one of my favorite things on property. Roy Disney does not get nearly enough credit for the success of Walt Disney World. . . While Walt was alive, Roy stayed very much behind the scenes in terms of creativity, but after Walt passed away, Roy took the reigns and he also really was able to get his hands dirty, so to speak, in the creative aspects of WED and if you look back at photos of this time, he really enjoyed himself! . . Roy is incredibly important to the history of WDW. And he left his mark just like his little brother all over this property and this company. . . Did you know that once you hit Pearl status on Disney Cruise Line 🚢 you get the photo package for free? And by "free," we mean included with your cruise. Goals!!! . . Only 17 to go! No problem! Everyone has their priorities on a cruise. Mine are photos. 😃. I mean, I have several, of course, but photos are tops on the lost. Each night, I pull up my Navigator app and make a preliminary plan with Bryson for the next day. I am planning for the time I need to get to the gym and be done with the gym. If we have an excursion, or what time we want to be at the pool, trivia, photos, etc. Then, the next morning, I see what has been added. It's a whole to-do 🤣😂. . . We're planners, guys. We have to have a plan. Everyone cruises differently, and that's great! We love to get the absolute most out of our cruise. I've been anticipating this weekend for a year. I've been training for this weekend for 6 months. Every single weekend, Saturday and Sunday have been consumed with this. I love it, don't get me wrong. But, it's a huge sacrifice for not only me but my family. . . The night we arrived, we learned that my Daddy, who has been sick for a long time, passed away. My dad suffered from Parkinson's, and eventually, it stole his life. . . I was devastated. My Dad sacrificed everything for me. He never let me go without. He taught me to work hard and always stand up for myself. He is the reason I am who I am. . . It doesn't matter if you know it is coming. The loss of a parent is truly gut-wrenching. . . I made the decision to stay and run this weekend for several reasons. 1: my Dad didn't raise a quitter. 2: running is how I process, grieve and think. 3: going home and not running won't bring my dad back. . . When I started the half and full I was able to both push harder than I planned and process what I needed to process for me, meet every character I wanted & still finished in good time. . . Looking ahead to 2023 has us like... . . Actually, my (Crystal) new plan is to stop looking to the next and to try to be more present in the here and the now. . . I am extremely type A. So, my toxic trait, and safe to say, (yes, I am speaking for my husband) Bryson's the same way, is that we are constantly looking to the next and we struggle to be present in the here and now. . . Alaska cruise throwback! It's cold and snowy here in Colorado. And that made us think back to Alaska! . . Our Alaskan cruise was such an amazing adventure. We had a blast. Best cruise ever. If we had one piece of advice to lass on for anyone considering an Alaskan cruise... go off the beaten path. . . Choose unique excursions, find adventures. Port towns are great but there is more to a cruise than eating, shopping and walking around a port. At least for us. Alaska is a place that needs to be explored, so if you are on the fence aboit Alaska, hope off that fence and book it. Then, get out there and explore Alaska. You won't regret it. . . The gardens are designed to be like Butchart Gardens, a National Historical site in Victoria British Columbia. We finally got on Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind and it was amazing! . . What a ride! Wow! Babe! Let's take a picture! . . On average, I make Bryson take about 300 photos every trip. We take 5 to 7 trips a year. About 5 years ago he decided if it is a photo he pays for, he will smile or take a "nice" photo. If it's a selfie or a photo this is typically the result. . . The competition is fierce! Have you ever pulled the sword from the stone? Neither have we! But not for lack of trying. . . The story of the sword has many theories and has been told throughout the world. An actual sword, rumored to be that same sword King Arthur pulled from the stone can be found in Tuscany Italy in Montesiepi Chapel. . . Of course the Disney adaptation of events adds what, we can only assume, was a little extra pizazz to this colorful cast of characters but Merlin is of course famous in his own right. Legend has it, he put the sword in the stone in the first place! Although there is no concrete proof Merlin was real, theories circulate all throughout Europe of his magical existence along of course with King Arthur and the Knights of the roundtable who, if did exist likely existed around 609 BCE and led British armies to defeat the Saxons. . .
