Peter made it very clear that because of its divine origin, Scripture stands apart from all other writings. He warned that the manipulating, distorting, or private interpretation of scripture, to achieve one’s own end is dangerous and very wrong. There were those in Peter’s day, as there are today, that place visions, dreams, personal experiences, and extra-biblical prophecies on a level with God’s Word. There are those who interpret Scripture in light of their own biases and pet doctrines. And there are others who spiritualise passages to say what they want it to say, or what they think it says rather than what it actually says, in its correct context. However, the Bible is its OWN Interpreter and will never contradict itself. Peter’s opponents denied the divine origin of the Scripture. They preferred to promote writings from visions, signs, and dreams - as do many today. ALL extra-biblical writings should be carefully tested to see if they line up with Scripture. Too often, modern-day prophecies and other predictions are a figment of their own imagination and cannot be trusted. However, Peter points out that the apostolic writings of Scripture came from God and not a human author. Like all the apostolic writings and prophetic Scripture, Peter reminds us that the Word of God gives illumination, revelation, and inspiration from the Lord. God communicated His message to man through Scripture, sent His Son to fulfil Scripture, and gave us His Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth. Cada matéria constituiu um divisor de águas na minha vida e o ESTUDO, me mostrou o quanto o neopentecostalismo é algo demoniaco. Hoje falo com experiência de causa e por ter recebido incontáveis palavras proféticas as quais, não tenho dúvida vieram diretamente de satanás. SIN AND REPENTANCE. Acts 2:42 is a purpose statement for the church. The apostles continued what Jesus started, preaching sin, repentance, and salvation (not the prosperity and the happy life). PROSPERITY GOSPEL. Some of God’s most loyal servants suffered physical ailments that were not miraculously healed (Phil 2:24–28; 1 Timothy 5:23). What God promises is eternal prosperity not our short-term comfort (Luke 12:33–34). Every child of God will experience prosperity beyond our wildest imaginations for all of eternity (1 Cor 2:9). Until then, we walk by faith. APOSTLES AND PROPHETS. The foundation of the church was built by the apostles and prophets (Ephesians 2:20). Today, believers are equipped to do the work to keep building it up (do the work of God so that the body can continue to be built up (Ephesians 2:21–22, 4:12–13). SPEAKING IN TONGUES. Speaking in tongues (foreign languages) in church without anyone interrupting goes against God’s Word (1 Cor 14:27). A godly church will make sure the Word is obeyed and preached. SOWING A FINANCIAL SEED. God doesn’t promise that we will reap a financial harvest if we sow a financial seed. God promises that He will bless us, but the specifics of His blessing are up to Him (Luke 6:38). LITTLE GODS DOCTRINE. Claiming divinity for Christians is insupportable. God is God alone (Isaiah 37:16). The only devine Son He has is Jesus (John 3:16), while believers become spiritually adopted children in Christ through faith (Rom 8:15). DISENGAGED MIND. God calls us to think and do so wisely, testing everything we hear and see done in His name (1 John 4:1), warning us about false apostles (2 Cor 11:13-15). Rather than accept every teaching, discerning Christians diligently study the Scriptures. EXPERIENCES. Seeking to make our experience determinative of right and wrong means repeating Adam and Eve's sin. They disobeyed because they chose to ignore God’s promises (Gen 3:6).
