Dove si trova la più antica #campana di #Venezia? Sull’isola di #Mazzorbo, dove tuttora risuona, dal 1318! Con i suoi 703 anni, compiuti a giugno, è una delle campane più longeve d’Europa, e secondo la tradizione i materiali di cui è composta, ossia oro, argento e bronzo, così combinati, avrebbero il potere di allontanare i fulmini! Oggi questa campana scandisce la giornata con i suoi rintocchi nel #campanile della #Chiesa di Santa Caterina. Il batacchio originale è stato sostituito ed è conservato nel porticato antistante la Chiesa, insieme a quelli di altre due campane dello stesso campanile, di epoca successiva. In origine, però, l’antica campana era nel campanile di Santa Maria in Valverde, parte di un convento demolito nell’Ottocento e convertito in cimitero, sempre a Mazzorbo. È qui che crescono i deliziosi Carciofi violetti di Sant'Erasmo, una varietà locale riconosciuta presidio #SlowFood e tutelata dal Consorzio del Carciofo violetto di Sant'Erasmo. 🍽 Il carciofo di Sant'Erasmo si trova sulle tavole dei veneziani solitamente a partire dalla metà di aprile, quando inizia la raccolta delle #castraùre. Sono i primi boccioli dei #carciofi, che vengono tagliati per permettere la crescita più rigogliosa dei boccioli laterali. 👉 Quest’anno le #castraùre si potranno assaggiare verso il 20 aprile. Considerate una vera squisitezza, sono disponibili solo per circa 15 giorni all'anno. A real jewel in the Venetian lagoon is the church of Santa Caterina on the tiny and quiet island of #Mazzorbo, just next to its big famous sister #Burano. This architectural piece of art is the "barca", the place from where the nuns, that lived here in strict enclosure, assisted the holy mass. 🕌
Burano is even in wintertime a play of colours: "The colour purple" 👉 was produced by Phoenicians in their trade city Tyre: 10.000 murex sea snails were necessary to produce 1 gr of dye thus permitting only the "highsociety" to afford the cost of fabrics dyed in purple. This situation only changed in the 1800s when the synthetic version of the colour purple was invented.
