We embarked on a thrilling escapade with a merry band of six intrepid souls, venturing into the heart of the Darling Range on the Bibbulmun Track 5-day Pack & Camp Hike. Amidst hearty laughter and newfound friendships, we shuffled cards and shared tales while conquering challenging trails and towering hills. 🏞️⁠ ⁠ Along the way, we were greeted by a friendly wallaby at Beraking campsite, adding a touch of wildlife magic to our adventure. 6 things to know for a visit to Kazakhstan 🇰🇿 📌 Save this for your own trip! 1. Kazakhstan is a former Soviet republic, gaining independence in 1991. The offical languages are Kazakh & Russian. English is not always widely spoken. Therefore, some basic words in both will come in handy. 2. It’s the world’s largest landlocked country. & also the 9th largest country on earth, there’s a lot of ground to cover here. So make sure you have plenty of time to explore, or prioritise a region. 3. Kazakhstan doesn’t have a typical “tourist trail”. Outside of cities it *can* be a bit tricky logistically, to get around without your own transport or with an organised group. 4. It’s incredibly diverse, from deserts to mountains, rivers & vast grasslands (Steppe). It’s a nature lovers heaven & there’s always a surprise waiting around every corner. 5. Kazakh’s are historically nomadic people & their religion is Islam. Their culture is still preserved & practiced today. They’re also very welcoming & will love to talk to you about their country. 6. The food in Kazakhstan is delicious & you’ll certainly never go hungry. Think lots of breads, meats (they love meat!) & fresh vegetables. Although, be warned as Horse meat is very popular here.
