A member of the Qotsa Family who featured on albums Songs for the Deaf & Lullabies to Paralyze… as well as contributing to Desert Sessions 7/8. Finally the Friday Desertfest Day 1 headliners! . The Return on @morealityofficial! After covid cancelled there return to the UK shores I had been eagerly waiting for this day and it lived up to everything I had imagined. Managing to get to the barrier was a must for this one and we managed to park ourselves right infront of Alain & Chris. . Unfortunately Chris as damaged his leg the night before but that didn’t stop the rock n roll! Kicking off with Blue Garden (a song I had missed the first time I saw them due to curfews) Chris and Co reeled thru classic after classic including Third man on the Moon, Rabbit One, Domino & more! . A bonus surprise was when Masters if Reality decided to play the Desert Session & Qotsa song, Hangin Tree, written by none other than Alain. A song Chris also went on record to say was his favourite Qotsa Song.. (great choice) . Sugar… MORs newest song was great to see for sure and I’m dying to hear the rest of the new album . Unfortunately there was not to be an encore so we missed out on Ants in the Kitchen/Goin Down & High Noon Amsterdam, but I can be grateful for such a great show I didn’t care. Huge thanks to Chris for such a special night Think my favourite moment was Rabbit One with Paul Powell with some mighty fine bass solos 👌🏼 . Also Huge thanks to @repeter_head for grabbing the Setlist right at the end! Nine years ago, I interviewed @alainjohannes about pretty much his entire career. At two hours, it still holds the record for my longest ever musical conversation. Last night, he played Bristol and we finally got to say hi in person. I was almost in tears when he broke into Disappearing One from @chriscornellofficial's Euphoria Morning. The playing, tones and songwriting on that album are up there with the greatest of all time. Thank you, Alain ❤️

Made a 5 hour round trip to go catch @alainjohannes last night up in Bristol and boy was it worth it After checking out some of the local record stores in town I headed up to the @exchangebristol for the night’s festivities and a pint. I wanted to get in early as I was desperate to get my hand on a poster for the tour and catch @earl_of_hell who were in support of the tour… prior to their IG live interview with Alain, I hadn’t heard of them but was greatly impressed! Kyussy (is that a word?) riffs some great hooks! I’m keen to check out their studio work . The Alain show was plot into 2 segments, acoustic and electric. Walking on stage with his trusty Cig Fiddle, Alain kicked off the show with Eyes to the Sky… Me and @repeter_head just looked at each other and knew we were in for a treat of a show…. Almost watching a Wizard at work. Switching between, Cig Fiddle, Acoustic and 12 String guitars Alain reeled off tunes from his solo albums such as Endless Eyes, Free, Return to you and even an Acoustic rendition of Eleven tune “Seasick of you”. Another amazing touch was a song “for Chris”.. which is course referring to Chris Cornel and the work they did together on Euphoria Morning . Earl of Hell joined Alain on stage for the electric part of the show for the remainder of the show for tunes such as Avatar, Reach Out and of Course… Desert Sessions tunes Hangin Tree and Making a Cross . Huge thanks for the @earl_of_hell guys for booking the tour! It’s rare Alain heads over to the UK, and for me this was the first time seeing him in this setting. . Managed to have a quick word with Alain at the end and get some stuff signed.. I apologise to all those behind me in the Que 😬… I took quite a bit to get signed 😂😂. Friday, April 5th 2024 @alainjohannes played at @exchangebristol with @earl_of_hell both opening and joining him on stage with the electric part of his set. Earl Of Hell was the best opener possible for this gig, getting the crowd up and moving with their take on Stoner Rock. As for the headliner, Alain Johannes played both an acoustic and an electric set. I have never been so mesmerised by an acoustic guitar in a live setting before, it shown how great of a guitar player he really is. As for the electric set it was powerful, weird and everything that I wanted it to be. The Desert Sessions songs Hanging Tree and Making A Cross had me singing along loudly with every word and playing air guitar, bass and drums like an absolute mad man! I couldn’t have enjoyed myself more, it was beautiful from start to finish. As far as gigs go, you couldn’t get any better than that. Alain Johannes is an inspiration of mine and has been a part so many things that I love dearly.
