There was a time when I put The God of Carnage as one of those pinnacle plays to be forever relevant, but recently, I find @davidireland219’s voice appeals me more for similar ‘one set, three acts’ drama, probably because I find him much less bourgeoise… But this revival of #UlsterAmerican cannot be even better with this cast, because putting @woodyharrelson in the centre-point of this play no longer implement a clear-cut of make-believe. Today has been amazing. Yes, I could have done without having to queue for day seats this morning and then having to stand in the actual show, but we made new friends in the queue (always the best thing about day seat queues), Come From Away was amazing as usual, and I got to witness Alice Fearn's reaction to being told Beverley Bass was joining them in the theatre cafe. In between all that, I went to the Dali immersive exhibition in Spitalfields. It was not at all what I expected and I was convinced it had been a waste of money, but it ends with a VR experience which literally made my jaw drop. Maybe not worth the entrance fee on its own, but pretty close, even if it was only 8 minutes out of an hour/90 minute experience! We also visited the theatre cafe diner for dinner (it's been a fairly stagey day all told) and that was a fun experience, although it was a bit loud. I would probably go back! Oh, I also finally managed to get a ticket for tomorrow night (we will not speak of what I paid for it other than: it was more than I've ever paid for a ticket in my life!) which means I don't have to get up at 4am to go and queue for day seats. I had put off going to this for the longest time, but knew I had to go once they announced the end date for its West End run. What a shame it has to end, because this is quite the delightful and magical spectacle for both children and adults! The story is not quite the same as the 1964 film starring Julie Andrews. In fact, at nearly three hours long, the first half covers pretty much the whole film, with an extension to the story (and a wholly new character) happening after the interval. The musical supposedly draws from the original novels by P. L. Travers. Despite the differences between the film and the musical, fans of the former will still enjoy this immensely with familiar characters and songs. In fact, Bert has a much more believable cockney accent than in the film! The set was cleverly designed with flat panels that move to depict the various settings: inside the house, outside the house, the children's room, outside the children's room, the roof, and the park. The scene changes were done seamlessly thanks to these clever movable panels. The magic tricks done by Mary Poppins were delightful even if not anything groundbreaking. A bit disappointingly, when Mary Poppins fly, the wires were quite obvious so that broke me out of the immersion just that tiny bit, but that is just me being nitpicky. The performers all did an amazing job, especially the children! Everybody sang beautifully and more than did justice to the difficult musical numbers. In particular, I was very impressed with @charlie.stemp , who played Bert. The sheer energy in his performance, especially in the Step In Time number, where he tap danced up the side of the stage, across the stage upside down, and then down again on the other side of the stage, just blew me away and I found myself bouncing in my seat! What a wonderful musical for both young and old! A definite must-see before Mary Poppins say au revoir to the West End!

Some of my eats from yesterday… I tried a new flavour yogurt and tried a special chocolate!🍫 It’s always scary trying new flavours even if the calories are the same as I’m scared I won’t like it and it will be a waste of calories (which isn’t ever possible anyway) Turns out I like the way coconut tastes! It’s really refreshing.🥥 I ended up having two porridge pots and 2 apples yesterday as breakfast and lunch were so rushed, the apples were quite small tho!🍎🥣 I also tired a hotel chocolate for the first time since I was a little kid, it tasted really nice and helped bump up my calories for the day! It was a limited edition pistachio bunny, simply the cutest.🐰 Anything pistachio takes the win! The Alpro pistachio mousse was also a first, it tasted exactly like pistachio but the chocolate bit at the bottom was a bit too rich for me.🥜🌰 (How is there not a pistachio emoji!) After queuing for #dayseats for @comefromawayuk, I headed to Chelsea and Carlyle's House, before heading back into the west end for #Leopoldstadt, and then crying my way through #ComeFromAway from the front row! I've seen some excellent theatre in my time here and I have one show left before I go home tomorrow. 1/30 已連續上演68年的The Mousetrap 今天是偵探力滿點的一天，密室逃脫解密完後，我又直奔另一齣偵探劇劇場。之前就很好奇，到底什麼樣的劇可以連演68年，所以去密室逃脫前的早上我起了個大早，跑去排Day Seats。人家十點開賣，我九點半前就到了，除了我外，只有維護屋簷的工人在施工。「欸不好意思，票十點開賣喔。」他很好心的提醒了我，我說我只是怕買不到所以早點來等。沒想到從頭到尾，就只有我一人，都買完出來了，外頭還是一片冷冷清清。啊⋯那我這麼早來幹嘛⋯🤦♀️。算了，用便宜的價格買到好座位，早一點也沒關係。 雖然如此，劇場內到開演前都還是滿座喔，能演超過一甲子就是不簡單。 進了劇院大廳，右手邊就是一個大大的計數器，告訴大家今天看的是第28142場表演。牆上也還掛著連續演最久戲劇的金氏世界紀錄證書，左手邊還有英國女王在2002年慶祝連演50週年、出巡至劇場看戲的照片。昨天看Waitress 時，隔壁的阿公曾經跟我說不知道是不是自己的想像力太豐富，他看這齣戲時覺得只要布幕拉開都會聞到一股舊舊的霉味😂。我跟他說我今天會來親自體驗看看，不過坐第一排的我覺得其實劇場很乾淨，大概是整個大清潔過了。 整齣劇不換幕。場景設計很簡單：舞台左右翼各一扇門，左右翼後方也各有一個出入口／樓梯，左翼後方還多一扇門可以通往別的房間，舞台正後方是一扇大窗戶，人也可以從這裡出入。比較特別的是右翼前方的那扇門是往舞台方向開的，本來我還在奇怪為什麼這樣設計，不是會擋到觀眾視線嗎？結果兇手就是默默從這扇門飄出來關燈殺人的，難怪要這樣開。 看這齣戲的時候柯南的既視感超重的，果然被害人就是跟大家都起爭議的討厭鬼、旅館的對外聯繫果然因為大雪通通斷光、大家果然謊話一層又一層、兇手果然是最出乎意料的人😂。劇名The Mousetrap 則是跟劇情用了童謠Three Blind Mice 有關。兇手因為過往的仇恨想要殺人，並用了Three Blind Mice當作警告，最後他在設局抓被害人這隻老鼠時被大家捕獲。看戲當下我真的沒有認真想到底誰是兇手，以致於最後兇手現身時心頭一驚，不過如果跟著劇情好好推理的話應該不難猜出是誰下的手。最後謝幕時，兇手也有特別要求大家不要爆雷，因為看完的同時大家都成為共犯了。 今天在劇場內，我又遇到另一位自己看戲的阿公。他第一句話就說「我住愛丁堡，來倫敦就是要確保英國會成功脫歐。誰不支持脫歐啊？」我先嚇了一跳，不過後來我們就聊了起來。他曾在1965年的時候到過台灣待了一陣子，覺得當時受到很棒的款待，聽到我是台灣人就跟我說他一直很想回饋這些恩情，所以對我很好，一直問我要不要薄荷糖、要不要喝飲料。因為他發現劇中警長拿的筆記本剛好與他使用的筆記本一樣，中場休息時他就把他的本子送我。我說我很想在離開英國前去蘇格蘭一帶走走，尤其是藝術節的時候，他說近年來藝術節越來越夯，住宿也不好訂，到時候我如果要去的話可以帶朋友借住，他有四個多餘的床位。（這是一個我家很大、一個人住的概念嗎😅）總之最後他給了我他的名片，上面有他的電子信箱，我就寄了封信給他，或許之後真的可以請他帶我走走吧！（但住的話還是先pass好了，還是有點抖抖ㄉ）現在想想我的老人緣也太好ㄌㄅ，技能加一餒。 #TheMousetrap #LongestRunningPlay #68thYear #GuinnessWorldRecord #28142ndPerformance #Dayseats #ThreeBlindMice

On Saturday I saw my final show of 2019 - Noises Off. . I'd been wanting to see this for a while but The Garrick isn't really blessed with the greatest view from the cheap seats so I had been hoping to find a good offer at some point. With that not happening I had my first experience of going to the theatre box office for day tickets and got some great stalls seats for £20! . St. pancras에서 수속을 하고 탔는데, 생각보다 금방 걸렸다. 유로스타는 해저터널로 이동한다고 하는데, 엄청 빨랐고,, 멀미가 났다,, 3시간 정도만에 파리 북역에 도착했고, 나올 때는 따로 수속이 없었다!

What an absolute amazing show @waitresslondon is! It is rare that I am so overwhelmed by all the emotions transfered through a musical as I was today. What's better than a random day off work? A random day off work when there's a matinee! . Today I had my first taste of rush tickets and loved it! Row G in the stalls for only £25?! 😱 Thanks @todaytix ! . Fiddler on the roof hadn't really been on my radar but, after seeing numerous posts about it on here I decided I should probably give it a go. I was particularly intrigued by what had been said about the whole auditorium being turned into Anatevka. . Walking into the auditorium was an absolute joy for a theatre geek like me! With the set design spreading all across the stalls I couldn't stop looking around! . Coming out of the theatre after 3 hours and it not feeling anywhere near that long is a testament to how good this show is! If you're still trying to get tickets for the 'theatre event of the year', firstly thank you for your patience and commitment. Here's a few bits of info to hopefully help anyone trying to bag day seats or returns this week: . Day seats: Available from the venue from 10am, however queues are starting at around 6.30/7am. Generally speaking those who arrive at 8 are the last to get tickets although we cannot guarantee this pattern. They are strictly one per person, and we have a limited amount available on each day. . Returns queue: Whilst you can still check online for returns there is a physical queue at the theatre each evening. These are available from 6.30pm, however queues are forming at around 4.30/5pm. The queue begins from directly outside the theatre (next to the tree!), and you can purchase up to 2 tickets. The prices of tickets we have returned to us do vary, and tickets are subject to availability. .
