All original early 1960’s Corgi Toys Aston Martin Competition model (309) in 1:43 scale. This model is complimented by having its original box in complete original condition. This model was released by the British toy maker in 1962 and the earliest examples shipped with the No.3 on the doors. If you own this model lift the bonnet and take a look. According to expert opinion on the early versions the underside of the bonnet is painted turquoise before they switched to painting it silver. Here’s a gorgeous late 60’s Corgi Toys Land Rover 438 in its all original deep green deco with plastic hood. Introduced in the first half of the 1960’s this popular model sold in its millions until it was withdrawn in the late 1970’s. The 438 was an upgrade on the 406 it replaced and Corgi added suspension and a plastic hood. Corgi Toys 224 Bentley Continental Sports This is a fantstic model and box combination of the Corgi 224 Bentley Continental in two tone green. It has a red interior with silver spun shaped wheels and grey treaded tyres. The opening boot reveals the spare wheel and tyre. Like shop stock. Light tested and totally original. Corgi 475 Citroen Safari - Olympic Winter Sports. True to lots of corgis, this little gem has a unique mechanism that lets you fold down the rear seats by turning a cog just behind the n/s rear wheel. I loved corgis for this reason. Always something different to other manufacturers. This one doesn’t disappoint. Skis and poles strapped to the roof rack, complete with a little down hill skier. This is the Olympic Games version I believe from 1966. There were other other version. One included a St Bernard dog for the Mountain Rescue Edition. Another carried a toboggan. Like I said. It was the little touch’s that corgi gave its models that made them unique and added to their play value. Corgi 226 Morris Minor. This has been floating around in my cars to do collection for a while. However it has finally been restored. Whilst painting the turquoise blue Jaguar MK X I had a little paint over so the little mini was given a fresh coat of paint. It’s not too far off the original colours but far enough to be different. Corgi 238 Jaguar Mk X. I saw a post on a Facebook Corgi forum where a post from a member had collected the various colours of the Corgi Jaguar MK X. And it got me thinking. Could I replicate them? The first 3 are the last to be completed. Please see earlier post for the Green, silver and pink variants. All the cars you see here were EBay finds. Cheap as chips but the main thing is the glass was in a ok condition and all the parts were there. I think I was lucky. I only paid on average around £5 each for these. The paints I already had apart from the pale blue metallic. Tyres are around 25p each. So these have cost me approximately £45 for all 6. Not a bad investment. And a fraction of the price of an original. However, these will never be worth the value of an original condition model. But these were done purely for my enjoyment. Next on the list of jobs is to find a suitable place to display them. Putting all 6 in the cabinet would take up too much space. I have an idea of creating a period car transporter to display them on. Corgi 325 Ford Mustang Fastback 2+2. This was not one I had as a lad. My pal across the road had the blue version and I always fancied a Mustang. An iconic piece of Americana. Release in 1964 although I am pretty sure this is a 1967 version the Mustang name still lives on today. And this little model is no exception. The single piece bumper and suspension unit was broken. I was able to salvage this one though. After the disappointment with the unit for the Marlin Rambler. (See previous post) I decided to repair. And I am pleased with the result. Sanded back and a coat of Molotow chrome paint it’s bling is back. Even better, this one retains all original parts. (Apart from the tyres) even the glazing unit. I am disappointed in the red stripes. I was toying with using car pin striping and now wish I had. I masked the stripes and sprayed them in cherry red, but there was a little bleed under the tape. Maybe I will strip down and redo it. It for now it will do. Corgi 324 Marcos 1800GT. I don’t mind saying that I am rather smug that this has turned out ok. From what was a rather sorry looking little car that was covered in gold paint. Including all over the glass. This retains all original parts. Even the glass. There is a small crack in the rear window. Caused by me applying too much pressure whilst sanding and polishing. Apart from the Minis in the film “The Italian Job”, is there a more iconic Mini. Painted in the original Citron Yellow. Matt black bonnet. Black interior and steel wheels. This has been converted from remnants of a Corgi 282 and Corgi 344. The hinges shaved from the door and A pillar. 2nd fuel filler removed. The wheels were from the spares box.
