Il Western City Gate di Belgrado, conosciuto anche come Torre Genex, non è solo un passaggio obbligato verso la città quanto un enorme portale formato da un paio di torri collegate, sormontate da un ristorante girevole come corona. Fu costruito nel 1977 come spazio commerciale e residenziale, suddiviso tra due grattacieli. La più corta delle due torri (alta 26 piani) ospita in realtà gli uffici dell'azienda Genex, oltre ad altri spazi per uffici, oltre il divario c'è una torre più alta (30 piani) riservata allo spazio residenziale. I grattacieli si classificano come i secondi edifici più alti della Serbia. Le due torri sono collegate in alto da un ponte pedonale a due piani che non solo consente alle persone di spostarsi tra le strutture, ma offre anche alcune viste straordinarie di Belgrado. In cima a un'estremità del ponte c'è il ristorante circolare e girevole. Al giorno d’oggi purtroppo i lati dell’edificio sono tappezzati di pubblicità che spesso pendono per tutta la lunghezza della struttura. Western City Gate / Gentex Tower (1976) La grande vedette du béton à la Golden hour. -- Son restaurant circulaire qui n'a jamais tourné, ses 30 étages (résidentiels) à gauche, ses 26 étages (bureaux) à droite, son couloir en hauteur reliant les deux, et ses 36 en tout avec son excroissance centrale. -- À droite (only) c'est à vendre (17 M. € en 2017, 12 en 2022) mais ça sent la mauvaise affaire, sachant que désormais, l'ensemble est désormais "Monument Culturel" de Serbie, et serait gourmand en rénovations. ------ Bonus : Genex, c'est "GeneralExport", propriétaire de la tour, jusqu'à sa faillite en 2015. Единственото бруталистично бижу, което успях да снимам в #Белград, е ето това - спортен център "25 май". Стърчи над #Дунав и прилича на НЛО, подобно на #Бузлуджа. Следващия път ще си отделя време за още няколко икони на белградския брутализъм.
