Days 10-12 We’d done lots of adventuring to this point of the trip, but these next few days provided easily the most ridiculous natural beauty we’d seen! We left our spot in Uig and took the short drive to the start of the Quiraing. We ended up doing an 8km loop of this dramatic landscape and every single step was such a joy. The landscape had been carved into the most otherworldly structures as the last glacial sheets covered Scotland. It was a pretty tough hike at points with those 8km undulating over 120 floors of elevation, but if you’re ever here, DO IT! Our day wasn’t done there as we headed away from the Quiraing to Staffin, a place where I got to live out all my childhood dreams and stand in the footprint of a dinosaur!!!! This Megalosaurus had been wandering this beach 170 million years ago when the whole of Scotland was south of the equator… wild right! The evening brought a relatively tricky wild camp in tick-ville (looking down and seeing over 10 of them on your fingertips is not a vibe), but it was a beautiful secluded spot with lots of birdsong. The next day it was a case of get your gloves on and let’s get out of here! We packed up fast and headed to the most famous landmark in all of Skye, the old man of Storr. This is a simply ridiculous piece of rock, it juts out of the Trotternish Ridge like an almighty fallen celestial. Locally it has been known as the giants thumb, and you can absolutely see why! The path even in April was incredibly busy so about a quarter of the way in we dipped off up a path to the left and it was actually the best choice. We managed to walk right up and touch the giants thumb with no one around and plenty of stunning views without being in the generic photograph spot. My blisters retired me so we headed back to Portree for some well earned rest! Our last full day in Skye came the next morning and we wanted sun and sea. We headed to the lesser trodden Brothers Point and found an amazing walk along the coast, with views of Storr, the Quiraing and Kilt rock. It was the perfect last day, we were no more than 50 metres away from another colony of seals and life was bliss in the early evening warmth.

Another trip to the Isle of Skye. I wanted to go to places Id never been to, that list is getting short. This image is of Brothers Point. In the summer I would imagine it would be a nice a walk to get there. at this time of year it was a bit of a slog through marshy and sodden land. The end result was well worth the hike. In a way it's like a mini Neist Point but has a personality of its own. Having been to the Isle of Skye so many times it’s getting trickier to find new places to visit. But we’re still managing it. One I’m not sure why we’ve never done before is Brother’s Point on the east coast. It’s a beautiful spot with views reaching across the tip of the Isle of Rona to the mainland. Hike to Brother’s Point in Isle of Skye, Scotland Absolutely gorgeous, peaceful, and there are dinosaur footprints visible at low tide (see next post) This is a lesser known site in Isle of Skye, so it is MUCH less crowded than places like Old Man of Storr - I saw maybe 10 people here versus hundreds at An Storr. The trail begins at a small parking area, leading through pastures toward the coastline. Unfortunately, we weren't able to reach our final destination. After getting stuck in mud up to our ankles once again, we decided not to go any further. 😅 Seriously, rubber boots would have come in handy! But where a person can't go, a drone can! Ghosties on Polaroid, 7th September 2023. How fitting that our one month anniversary should occur one week into Spooktober 👻 Slowly fixing my relationship with social media... I know: the wedding content must get tiring, and I'm not really helping the case of trying to highlight myself and @stephanie_saurus as distinctly separate entities. But if there's one thing I want to share, it's that love and life are messy. Social media feigns perfection- we aren't perfect, but cheesily, we are perfect for each other. That's why I adore my Polaroid Supercolor 635CL which I bought from an antique store in Germany; over seven years ago, when I lived there. It is flawed, it's a faff, it's that which cannot be controlled. Photos need light to be taken, but immediate darkness to develop in. The flash bleeds, you get random spots, squiggles and bits of lint out of nowhere. Buying the now back-in-fashion film is a financial labour of love itself. Our day was perfectly imperfect like that. Steph struggled with severe hayfever (with hindsight might have been a cold), and en route to eloping we both got ID'd in a supermarket for painkillers; whilst in full marital gear! We enjoyed our picnic at Brother's Point, but strong wind covered our dresses and the blanket in sticky lemonade, and a glass plate smashed on the rocks (sorry @davidconaty.photography!) Our Airbnb host prepped the hot tub for us and our dear friends, but it still felt like a cooking pot and gave us red tide marks after a lengthy cold blast from the garden hose. Lastly, my crazy idea of getting back to mainland for our @christineandthequeens gig the next night meant driving halfway to Fort William in pitch dark, steering clear of multiple huge red deer and even a badger running into the road! We did have our first married tiff out of pure exhaustion the next day 😅 I wouldn't change things for the world. Whilst I navigate a difficult period of unemployment, poor mental health, and feeling disengaged from my passion of nature; I refocus on what makes life worth living: my wife, our friends, music, books, and cosily playing video games/watching silly little shows with warm spiked autumnal drinks 🎮🥂🍁

Rubha nam Bràithrean (Brothers’ Point) is the furthest eastern point of the Trotternish peninsula on the Isle of Skye. The walk there is nice and diverse, leading across rocks and grassland, along ruins and rock pools. If you walk all the way to the point it’s actually a bit challenging when the path gets narrow and steep - even more so with strong winds tugging at you! It wasn’t until I really studied the sign at the trailhead afterwards, that I read the sentence ‘we do not recommend that you walk to the point’...
