🎓Graduate Spotlight: Navin Patterson, Mays Landing 🎓 Navin Patterson graduated from Atlantic Cape with an Associate in Applied Science in Media Studies. He plans on attending a four-year college, doing an internship, and starting a business based on his studies in his home country. Navin found a lot of opportunities and was very involved while at Atlantic Cape. He was able to network with a lot of experienced people in his field. Navin was also the president of the Esports Media Club, and a member of the Men of Atlantic Cape, Black Student Alliance, Radio Club, and the Atlantic Cape Review. Navin would like to thank Professor Dr. Bojan Zilovic for mentoring him and providing opportunities to showcase his talents and skills. 🎓 Graduate Spotlight: Rodrigo Márquez Torres, Lima, Peru 🎓 Rodrigo Márquez Torres graduated from Atlantic Cape with an Associate of Science in Engineering. He plans to find an internship this summer and will then finish his industrial engineering degree at Rutgers University-New Brunswick. Rodrigo chose Atlantic Cape because it was the closest option to his home to finish learning the English language. He also chose Atlantic Cape because of its transfer benefits, such as the Phi Theta Kappa scholarships and the quality credits to complete his bachelor’s degree. The biggest challenge Rodrigo faced was trying to feel a sense of community and belonging on campus which affected his stress and mental health. He conquered his obstacles by joining student clubs, founding the Latino Club, meeting new people, and finding additional social activities outside campus. . Rodrigo would like to thank Professor Frank Toriello, who guided him with his academic goals, mentoring and writing recommendation letters to Columbia and Princeton universities. Victor Moreno helped him successfully create and establish the Latino Club. Professor Effie Russell helped motivate and trust himself. Professor Rich Russell helped him revise his personal statements and helped Rodrigo fill out transfer applications while applying to universities. Rannalle on matkaa vain 1,5km ja kävimmekin jo paikan tarkastamassa - toppatakit päällä, älä anna auringon hämätä kuvissa, ulkona oli n. 14C. Rannalla oli varoituksia 🐍🐍🐍 Yhtään ei onneksi nähty, lintuja sitäkin enemmän ja koiria omistajineen. Asunnossamme oli tultuamme 13C. Pieni kylmän kalseus levisi luihin, mutta reippaalla kävelyllä ja pienellä lämmityslaitteella alkaa sisälämpötila olla nyt kohtuullinen. Through hard work, some late nights, and, most of all, a supportive Otter half, I have finished the semester and maintained my 4.0 gpa. Ended the semester with a 98 on the Parasitology final last night. Technically, each of the Science classes had a lab (at the end it becomes part of your lecture grade) so 7 classes this semester. I couldn't have done any of it without my otter. Ms. Education; Birth to Early Childhood and Childhood Education!🥂🥂 🌸 Tolulope did it! With excellent grades, too 😁😁. And with my husband and children by my side.😁😁 🌸 This is not my first graduation since I moved to Canada. No, it's actually the third, but by far, it's one of the toughest things I've done in my adult life. It's also my first (and last 😁) Masters. 🌸 I wanted to get a Master's and a teaching certificate in one. I had a start, a false start with a similar program in a different university, with a scholarship that I earned by applying, but it couldn't work for our family situation, so I had to leave it. It was so painful, but I was determined to find something that would work. 🌸 Then, I found this program at Niagara University. I then started to combine full-time work and school, in addition to family life and running a business. I had many sleepless nights, oh, so many! 🌸 Several days, my husband would step in to cook or order takeout while I worked. We changed our family plans to suit my schedule so many times. The kids made several appearances in my online classroom 😄😄. My daughter would sometimes chip in to my assignment . Yes, my Grade 6 teacher😁😁😁. My son would ask countless times if I'm ok. 🌸 Then, I had to stop working in the last 4 months to complete the requirement, with me working full time in a classroom. It looked impossible initially, but God backs what He starts. He never leaves you alone. 🌸 Many lessons I've learned along this journey, but in all of this, my family; my husband, and children are the real heroes. They supported me! This deserves a separate post 😁😁😁 🌸 I'm thankful, grateful, and exhausted. I feel super blessed, too. 🌸 It's never too late to start something new. Back to school for the second part of the semester. Another good result back and one step closer on my degree journey. I have also learnt that I am my own worst critic and keep exceeding my own expectations. Probably time to start believing in myself. Had a lovely beach walk during the weekend. I can’t….I’ll never be able to….I’m not good at… I wrote this “I CAN” affirmation in my ADHD planner yesterday and it happened. And there was literal ugly crying in Panera. @haslettmalinda was waiting for actual footage but I actually couldn’t even see as my contacts completely clouded up. The whole thing was 💯 Shaunna. 😂❤️🤦♀️ I took it the first section of my Masters of Music exit exams. It was a 100 question ‘drop the needle’ exam during which I had to identify rep in 7 languages after hearing a 30 second clip. Oh! And you can only miss 3. I missed 2 🕶️😎. I took a village. I even flew to Ohio to have family watch my daughter while I studied. But we did it!!
