A router table is a woodworking tool that provides a stationary platform for a router, enhancing precision, control, and safety when performing various woodworking tasks. FAMILY,friends ,kindness ,love These words are part of our motto at Rock Paper Scissors,and are on the shop front without being corny If we can help others no matter how small makes us feel good .So one special friend of ours Lucy who has work in the shop and teaches with me has a very special nephew and both share the same birthday which is tomorrow miles will be 15 . Last year Miles was diagnosed with a very aggressive cancer and despite many treatments he lost his leg but with shear determination was able to return to school in September . Sadly the cancer has returned and he is doing his best to fight it . Our Create students had the opportunity to work with oak swill basket maker @lornaweavesoak This was a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn new skills from Lorna – splitting green wood along the grain in to strips called spelks and taws and weaving these together to create beautiful woven vessels. Here’s another Summer STEAM Camp highlight in partnership with @phoenix_talent_schools👩🏽🤝👨🏾 Our wonderful lead instructor Piper Tamler @sassayosie taught this unique, hands-on camp called Think Outside the Box. Students learned the fine art of hand tools and built custom boxes using artisan chisels, hand planes, and hand saws. They started the week with a single slab of wood and ended with a beautifully handmade, wooden box with no hardware required! 😍 Piper is an incredibly skilled craftswoman and builder and we are SO LUCKY to have her on staff. Turns out, @vans are better shoes to paint anyway. 😎 Chava Florendo is our amazing instructor for this fun, creative and stylish STEAM Camp. With support from our awesome intern Yami Bazan, this camp was one of the more popular in our summer lineup. 👟👕 Students came up with a design for their footwear and sweatshirts and then scaled it to the size of the item. We couldn't BEE happier about this Summer STEAM Camp! 🐝 In our Buzz On In Camp, we were lucky enough to have McKael Kenfield teaching students about the importance and wonder of bees! McKael and her husband own @siskiyouhoneybees and know a thing or two about our little pollinator friends (and honey!) 🐝🍯 Students learned about bee hives and got to build a mini replica of one. They also got to build a laser cut out of a bee, learning about the intricacies of their little pollinator bodies and how they work. They learned about the importance of bees for our food and plant systems and even got to sample several different types of honey to see how versatile the sweet nectar can BEE! We loved popping in on this camp to see all the fun things going on with McKael and her students. Nothing quite like Sgraffito in the summer WITH Summer! We are extremely fortunate to have the amazingly talented ceramicist @kilnedwithkindness working with us!! She taught this lucky crew the basics of working with clay and handbuilding along with a touch of sgraffito! Students made everything from heart shaped mugs to detailed dishes to an entire set of trays for mom’s homemade quesadillas! We are having a blast with these camps in partnership with @phoenix_talent_schools. Summer STEAM Camps in partnership with @phoenix_talent_schools, are coming to the end of week 3 already! The kids have been learning so many cool things and having a lot of fun in the process. 😁 One of our camps is called Clay, Clay, Clay, and it’s wheely fun! 😉 It’s being taught by our wonderful instructor, and master ceramicist, Polly Beach. In Polly's camp, students are learning how to hand build different creations out of clay like faces and animals. And yesterday, got their first hand at throwing on a wheel! Does it look like anyone is having fun? 👍🏽 The students are learning all of the steps in creating things out of clay including making their object, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing in the kiln. Polly’s instruction is not only fun and informative but creates a quiet, focused, creative learning space for the students.
