Children in Roots of Empathy classrooms are coached to connect with the vulnerability and humanity of a tiny baby who visits throughout the school year with their parent, along with a Roots of Empathy Instructor using a gold-standard curriculum. The Instructor coaches students to observe and recognize the baby's feelings and then to reflect on when they felt similar emotions. Another amazing visit with beautiful baby Molly and Mrs. Backhouse for the #kindergarten class engaged with #rootsofempathy

~𝑅𝑜𝑜𝓉𝓈 𝑜𝒻 𝐸𝓂𝓅𝒶𝓉𝒽𝓎~ 𝑅𝑜𝑜𝓉𝓈 𝑜𝒻 𝐸𝓂𝓅𝒶𝓉𝒽𝓎 is an international, evidence and empathy-based classroom program designed for elementary children. The program helps children to build a sense of security and stronger relationships with other children and educators, positioning them well for learning. It encourages tolerance and acceptance of others. It promotes good mental health and social harmony. The experiential learning with the neighbourhood parent and infant is embedded in the student’s brains as they observe this secure attachment relationship. In Roots of Empathy, emotional literacy develops as children begin to identify the baby’s feelings, reflect on and understand their own feelings which allows children to build healthy relationships. Last year, our Roots of Empathy program worked with 475 school-age children to reduce their aggression and build their skills in empathy and their social and emotional intelligence. This is just one way we’re working with kids and youth to build the skills they need to handle conflict and build healthy relationships throughout their lifetime.
