This day holds special significance, highlighting the importance of preserving our culture. In light of ruzzia’s invasion of Ukraine and its ongoing assault on our people, this symbolic day carries even greater weight and urgency. It serves as a reminder of the resilience and strength exhibited by the Ukrainian people. To mark Vyshyvanka Day this year, I am proud to showcase my beloved Mama, the most important person in my life. These photos, from her teenage years to her thirties, underscore that Vyshyvankas are not just clothing but a symbol of our identity and traditions. In these photos, beautiful Valentina shows that you can literally do anything in your Vyshyvanka, such as engaging in traditional Ukrainian dancing, enjoying a date with a handsome young suitor (who did not become my father), participating in a Ukrainian fashion show, spending time with girlfriends, or simply being a nurturing mother to toddlers dressed in their own mini-Vyshyvankas (yes, that’s me!). We visited Angkor Wat, One of the largest Hindu § Buddhist Temples in the World. The history states that the temple was built originally for Lord Vishnu, The God of Preservation in Hinduism, but was taken and transformed into a Buddhist Temple. Now it stays as a In-Between of the two religions, with Hindu and Buddhists alike going there for worship. A thing to note is that the temple was not very well cared for up until recently. A lot of the beautiful architecture was not preserved the way they are in most other Temples in the world. The place is absolutely stunning, and a fun maze to walk through. It’s amazing how people were able to make such a thing with stone when the closet source was 40km away and modern cranes and construction devices did not exist. I learned from an elder that Elephant were used to carry them, but with how tall and well built it is, people of the past have to have been amazing. I hope that the people of today will be able to build equally stunning places. I’m glad I got the opportunity to go on this Trip. To anyone who has the cash and needs a nice place to Visit, you should definitely consider going to Angkor Wat. #preserveourculture #preserveourheritage #preserveourhistory
