American researchers have arrived at a startling revelation: the act of tree planting, when executed in inappropriate locales, may exacerbate the phenomenon of global warming. Common knowledge asserts that trees serve as carbon sinks, thereby aiding in the reduction of atmospheric carbon dioxide levels while concurrently emitting oxygen, thus rendering the act of sapling cultivation crucial for environmental sustainability. However, the pivotal consideration lies within the choice of planting sites. Notably, the establishment of forests within grasslands and savannahs situated in the temperate regions of the Earth impairs the albedo effect. This alteration, in turn, poses the potential to diminish the cooling efficacy associated with newly established forestation by a margin of 20% to 80%, consequently fostering a warming trend on a planetary scale. This realization has been facilitated by the inaugural incorporation of albedo effect computations within scientific assessments. Nevertheless, the preeminent locales for afforestation endeavors are the Amazon and Congo rainforests. The imperative of conserving and rehabilitating these ecological treasures is underscored by the creative expression of artist Natalia Kapchuk in her seminal work, "The Last Breath," released in 2019. @Kapchuk : "The Amazonian rainforests epitomize the essence of our planet's respiratory system, constituting approximately nine percent of global oxygen production. The irreplaceable loss of these verdant bastions is a burden humanity simply cannot endure. #WarmThePlanet #AmazonianRainforests #CongolianRainforest #TheLostPlanet #KapchukArt #Art #Artist #ContemporaryArt #Ecology #ClimateChange #GlobalWarming #Sustainability #NataliaKapchuk #ContemporaryArt #EcoArt #Abundance #EcoArt

Recently, a laboratory study conducted by British scientists delved into soil sediments extracted from a depth exceeding 7 meters, revealing the presence of 16 distinct varieties of microplastics. This revelation bears a striking element of surprise as the samples date back to the 1st to 2nd century AD and were procured during archaeological excavations in the 1980s. This significant discovery underscores the infiltration of microplastics into natural soil environments, hitherto presumed unaffected by human intervention, thereby encroaching upon the historical legacy of humanity. Consequently, this phenomenon exerts a tangible influence on the alteration of soil chemistry, hastening the degradation of organic constituents. Such degradation not only compromises the evidential integrity of unearthed materials but also diminishes the inherent value of natural deposits. Renowned artist and eco-advocate Natalia Kapchuk has prominently featured the deleterious repercussions of plastic waste on the planet’s delicate ecosystems in her artistic oeuvre. Specifically, in her seminal work titled “Environmental Crisis” (2019), Kapchuk highlights the catastrophic ramifications arising from the coalescence of plastic refuse and oil within our oceans, precipitating the decimation of marine life inhabiting these waters. Regrettably, an alarming volume of nearly eight million tonnes of plastic inundates Earth’s oceans annually, concomitantly accompanied by approximately 706 million gallons of resultant waste oil. For further elucidation on “Environmental Crisis” (2019) and other artworks comprising The Lost Planet series by Natalia Kapchuk, interested parties are encouraged to peruse the official website dedicated to her artistic endeavors. The International Day of Zero Waste, observed annually on March 30, holds considerable significance as it endeavors to advocate for sustainable waste management practices and foster initiatives toward achieving zero waste goals. This commemorative event also serves to elevate public consciousness regarding individual contributions to the realization of The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The establishment of the Day of Zero Waste was sanctioned through a resolution passed by the United Nations General Assembly in December 2022. The waste sector exerts a profound adverse influence on environmental pollution, climate change, and global biodiversity depletion. The sheer magnitude of solid domestic waste, currently estimated at 2.24 billion tons annually, underscores the urgency of addressing this issue. If arranged end-to-end within standard shipping containers, this volume of waste could encircle the planet approximately 25 times. Furthermore, an alarming influx of up to 14 million tons of plastic waste annually infiltrates aquatic ecosystems, while approximately 931 million tons of food are discarded annually. As Kapchuk asserts that the volume of waste produced within a mere twelve-month span, as outlined in scientific publications by experts, is profoundly troubling. He posits that it is our duty to safeguard the environment and, paramountly, to advocate for conscientious practices of production and consumption. This elucidates the significance of the International Day of Zero Waste. Mr. Kapchuk intends to partake in its commemoration on March 30th. Sculpture, when incorporated into interior spaces, becomes a vibrant element capable of adding refinement and accentuating the owner's interests. A seasoned designer stresses the importance of choosing a "favorable zone," ensuring seamless integration with the room's ambiance, furniture materials, and overall decor. Compositionally, the sculpture should harmonize with other art objects already present in the space. While the expert's suggestions hold merit, owners can explore artwork through our try-on service or rely on their taste, placing the art object where they desire. Crucially, the essence lies in the artist's creative vision embedded in the sculpture and the thoughtful narrative crafted by its creator. Natalia Kapchuk has sculpted several pieces in The Lost Planet series, with one notable example being Renewal, 2021. This particular work reflects kapchuk's admiration for resilient Cacti plants, demonstrating their ability to adapt to changing environments and emerging threats — a poignant parallel to the challenges humanity faces in preserving our deteriorating planet. Drawing inspiration from nature, our global society can learn valuable lessons about conserving resources, adapting to evolving landscapes, and safeguarding our precious planet for future generations. @kapchuk #TheLostPlanet #KapchukArt #Art #Artist #ContemporaryArt #Ecology #ClimateChange #GlobalWarming #Sustainability #Renewal #PrivateCollection #InteriorDesign #InteriorHouse #NataliaKapchuk #ContemporaryArt #EcoArt #InteriorSculpture #WorldOcean #EcoArt

Artist and eco-activist Natalia Kapchuk in many works from The Lost Planet series raises the theme of the pristine beauty of our planet, encouraging the viewer to think about its preservation, humane treatment of the environment, and living in harmony with it. For example, in works such as Lost in Blue, 2019, The Vanishing Antarctica, 2019 , Altering Tundra, 2022 , Saharan Sands, 2022 and more. The #Natalia Kapchuk mission has scientific rationality behind it when juxtaposed with the findings of a team of scientists from the UK, US and Canada published recently in the journal Science of the Total Environment. The study found that people living in green neighborhoods have a younger biological age and age more slowly at the cellular level. It turns out that nature has a direct impact on human health, that is, the factor of its proximity or remoteness in everyday life. @kapchuk "I regularly discover new places on our huge planet, sometimes on a large-scale trip to another continent, and sometimes in the nearest park or forest area. Nature inspires me to create and gives me positive energy for life. I know that man depends on nature and its preservation depends on man. This is an unbreakable connection, so we, people, should preserve, restore and multiply eco-wealth". #LostinBlue #TheVanishingAntarctica #TheLostAnimals #KapchukArt #Kapchuk #Artist #ContemporaryArt #EcoArt #NataliaKapchuk #Sustainability #AlteringTundra #SaharanSands

The Guardian recently published an alarming study featured in the journal Forestry. A group of 42 researchers, comprising 1,200 experts, warned that UK forests are on the brink of a "catastrophic ecosystem collapse" within the next 50 years. The impending reasons for this collapse include extreme weather conditions, wildfires, diseases, and other risks. The influence of these factors is already observable today, exemplified by the destruction of about 12,000 hectares of forest in Britain in 2021 due to winter storms. Despite the grim outlook, researchers express hope for averting the "catastrophic ecosystem collapse." The key lies in human actions geared towards creation. Planting a variety of tree species of different ages and implementing other measures can lead to the sustainable development of the forest ecosystem. Artist and eco-activist Natalia Kapchuk addresses the threats to forest ecosystems across various regions of the planet in her works, such as "Russian Wildfires (2019)" and "The Last Breath (2019)" from The Lost Planet series. @Kapchuk shares her perspective: "Forests are the most crucial part of the biosphere, serving as the Earth's lungs. They occupy 1/3 of the land area, approximately 4.06 billion hectares. Preserving forests worldwide is not only essential for our own survival but also crucial for over half of the world's terrestrial species of animals, plants, and insects, as the forest is their home and natural habitat." #KapchukArt #Kapchuk #Artist #ContemporaryArt #Artworks #ClimateChange #EcoArt #TheLostPlanet #Sustainability #Pollution #UKforests #Ecosystem #EcosystemCollapse #Forests

Today, December 11, International Mountain Day 2023, is a significant eco-date focused on preserving the planet’s mountain ecosystems, supporting local residents, and raising awareness about the problems and threats faced by the biogeocenosis of various mountain areas. Fifteen percent of the world's population resides in mountainous areas, whose biodiversity is invaluable, accounting for approximately half of the world's biodiversity hotspots. However, the threats to mountains are evident: climate change and, consequently, the melting of glaciers on the peaks, human exploitation of natural resources leading to soil erosion, irrational use of natural resources, and pollution. Established in 1992 with the adoption of Chapter 13 of Agenda 21, “Managing Fragile Ecosystems: Sustainable Mountain Development,” at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, International Mountain Day seeks to address these challenges. #InternationalMountainDay2023, held under the theme “Restoring mountain ecosystems,” aims to find solutions for sustainable development and reduce vulnerability to existing threats. Artist Natalia Kapchuk, in her series "The Lost Planet," has created several works dedicated to mountain ecosystems and individual majestic mountains. In the art pieces "Virgin Rocks, 2019," the artist celebrates the uniqueness of rock landscapes and highlights the value held in all established ecosystems. @Kapchuk shares her perspective: “It is worth remembering the wealth that mountains give us: fresh water (for everyday life to half of humanity), energy and food resources, medicines, and much more that is necessary for the sustainable development of humanity. We must take care of nature and look for solutions to restore mountain ecosystems.” #MountainsMatter #InternationalMountainDay #Mountain #ClimateChange #GlobalWarming #KapchukArt #Kapchuk #Art #ContemporaryArt #Artworks #EcoArt #ClimateChange #TheLostPlanet #VirginRocks #Sustainability

The artistic "Poseidon's Shield," created in 2023 by artist and eco-activist Natalia Kapchuk, symbolizes the enigmatic allure and astonishment of Earth's oceans, which are garnering increasing interest among humanity. It is noteworthy that only about 5% of the world's oceans have been explored, leaving a vast 95% still uncharted. To broaden our understanding of the creatures and treasures hidden beneath the waves, it is imperative to protect these majestic waters—both the visible and the unseen. The artist's veiled message, emphasizing humanity's fascination with the unexplored yet alluring depths of the ocean, captivates the viewer's attention. The elements used in the work, such as the gold leaf resembling a shield for the mesmerizing blue hues, serve as a poignant reminder of the ocean's vulnerability to external influences. "Poseidon’s Shield," part of the artist's "The Lost Planet" series, serves as a unique highlight in the interior of a house or apartment. It is a work that one can gaze at endlessly, studying its elements and immersing oneself in the colors. In September, Nature Reviews Earth & Environment published an article detailing the disheartening findings of ecologists from Utrecht University in the Netherlands. Their study, which involved examining the waters of thousands of rivers in various regions worldwide, revealed a decline in water quality over recent decades. The primary culprit behind this deterioration is climate change, influenced significantly by human activities. Consequently, the study observed increased occurrences of heatwaves, droughts, heavy rains, and other extreme weather events. As a consequence of these climate-related phenomena, heatwaves and droughts led to a reduction in oxygen concentration and an elevation in salinity in 68% of cases. Additionally, ecologists noted a 51% increase in the presence of plastic particles in river water, alongside heightened concentrations of pesticides, nitrates, and other chemicals from fertilizers following floods and prolonged rains. In her artwork "Bubble Hills, 2021," artist Natalia Kapchuk addresses the critical issue of river and waterway pollution stemming from industrial and agricultural activities, both of which negatively impact freshwater resources. @Kapchuk shares her perspective: "Freshwater is the foundation of life on the planet, and the decline in its quality poses a significant threat to all living organisms, including humans. Thanks to the dedicated observations and research conducted by talented scientists and ecologists, we have the opportunity to delve deeper into this issue, understanding the processes of change and the influencing factors. One indisputable fact remains: the root cause of the problem is climate change." #KapchukArt #Kapchuk #Artist #ContemporaryArt #Artworks #ClimateChange #EcoArt #TheLostPlanet #Sustainability #Pollution #UKforests #Ecosystem #EcosystemCollapse #ClimateChange #ExtremeWeather #WaterResources #WaterQuality

Art objects within a living space can communicate various aspects: the owner's tastes and preferences, their favored colors and preferred genres, and even their perspectives and ideas. Above all, they reflect the owner’s appreciation for art as a facet of aesthetics. Typically, this interest evolves into a more substantial passion for art objects, serving as a prerequisite and subsequently forming the cornerstone of a private art collection. The pieces by artist, eco-activist, and #philanthropist Natalia Kapchuk from The Lost Planet series serve as a splendid illustration of this in action within a private collection. The artworks— "Sapphire Sea" (2022), "Bubble Hills" (2022), and "Altering Tundra" (2022)—were seamlessly integrated into the relaxation area of a residence in London. On November 3rd, the International Day for Biosphere Reserves will be celebrated worldwide. This day holds great significance in drawing further attention to biosphere reserves, which play a crucial role in the sustainable development of humanity. Biosphere reserves integrate the conservation of existing biodiversity with its sustainable utilization and the restoration of ecosystems. These designated areas demonstrate successful interactions between environmental, social, and economic systems. They seamlessly blend nature conservation, scientific research, sustainable development, and local communities. Presently, there are 738 biosphere reserves spread across 134 countries worldwide, with 22 of them being transboundary sites. This collectively covers 5% of the Earth's surface, accounting for approximately seven million square kilometers. The International Day for Biosphere Reserves was established in 2021 during the UNESCO General Conference in Paris. Renowned artist and eco-activist Natalia Kapchuk places significant importance on the International Day for Biosphere Reserves. For her, it serves as a poignant reminder of the imperative to find a balanced accord with nature—embracing its preservation and restoration, and ultimately shaping human life and endeavors around the principles of sustainable development. @Kapchuk: "Humanity must earnestly seek harmonious coexistence with nature by reassessing our relationship with it. Biosphere Reserves in various countries stand as exemplars of how this can be achieved correctly. This holds particularly true in today's era of ongoing technological progress. We all bear the responsibility to care for the nature of our only home — our planet." #InternationalDayforBiosphereReserves #KapchukArt #Kapchuk #Art #ContemporaryArt #Artworks #EcoArt #ClimateChange #TheLostPlanet #Sustainability

After a thorough examination of artworks exhibited by hundreds of galleries from various countries, @Kapchuk made the following observations: @gagosian presented a special solo exhibition by Damien Hirst (@damienhirst) in booth E7. The new paintings from the series "The Secret Gardens Paintings" (2023) transport you to lush, magnificent gardens filled with vibrant flowers against a backdrop of greenery. In the foreground, you can see abstract details created by the author's distinctive brushstrokes. @FrançoisGhebaly (booth D9) showcased works by artists such as Marius Bercea @marius.bercea, Patricia Iglesias Peco @patopeco, and others. Particularly impressive was the sculpture by Max Hooper Schneider @max_hooper_schneider, featuring copper-plated bonsai trees called "DENDRITE BONSAI." Josh Lilley @_JoshLilley exhibited in booth B12, featuring not only paintings, photography, and drawings but also a large-scale sculpture, "Bad Lemon," from 2023 by Kathleen Ryan (@katieryankatieryan). The sculpture was created using stones and minerals, rather than organic substances. On the walls of the Seventeen gallery @SeventeenGallery (booth A17), there were numerous snail artworks by Patrick Goddard (@Patrick_goddard), which left a striking impression. In Timothy Taylor's booth (A14) @timothytaylorgallery, an installation by Eddie Martinez (@Martinez_archive) was presented, covering all the walls with the artist's drawings, creating an immersive experience in the artist's world. The forest fires that engulfed Europe in the summer of 2023 posed a profound disaster for both human communities and the natural environment. July saw a series of relentless fires in Greece that claimed lives, prompted the evacuation of thousands from four different locations, and inflicted damage upon the local flora and fauna. The tragedy extended into the latter half of August when large fires broke out north of Alexandroupolis, impacting the Dadia-Lefkimi-Soufli Forest National Park—an abode for numerous species of birds of prey, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and fish. Simultaneously, fires ravaged parts of Cyprus near Limassol, as well as regions in France and Portugal, devastating hundreds of thousands of hectares of forests. Unfortunately, the occurrence of forest fires is an annual global reality, with the year 2019 notably witnessing fires that swept across extensive areas, from Alaska to Australia. During that challenging time, Natalia Kapchuk created "The World is on Fire, 2019," as a dedicated response to this ongoing global issue, which regrettably retains its relevance today. #SouthernEurope #ForestFire, #WildFire #TheWorldisonFire #NataliaKapchuk #KapchukArt #Kapchuk #Art #Artist #ContemporaryArt #EcoArt #TheLostPlanet

Today, on September 28th, numerous countries around the world celebrate World Maritime Day, an observance established by The United Nations ( #UN) through the International Maritime Organization (IMO). This event occurs annually during the final week of September and places a strong emphasis on the significance of safe shipping, which accounts for over 80 percent of global trade, as well as marine conservation. Various maritime organizations and unions organize events and activities on this day, including educational initiatives aimed at delving into the preservation of marine flora and fauna. This chosen theme reflects the historical journey of IMO and underscores the vital role the organization plays in safeguarding the marine ecosystem of our planet. @Kapchuk supports initiatives dedicated to preserving and cleansing the world's oceans. The artist has dedicated numerous works in her series "The Lost Planet" to this cause, repeatedly expressing her admiration for the elements of the sea and the pristine beauty of our planet's oceans. Some of these works include "Invisible Life" (2019), "Sapphire Sea" (2022), "Divine Gaia" (2022), "Poseidon's Shield" (2023), and many others. #WorldMaritimeDay #WorldMaritimeDay2023 #InvisibleLife #SapphireSea #DivineGaia #PoseidonsShield #KapchukArt #Kapchuk #Artist #ContemporaryArt #Exhibition #Artworks #EcoArt #TheLostPlanet #Sustainability

Most recently, #NataliaKapchuk has unveiled her latest creation, "Poseidon's Shield," adding to her renowned series "The Lost Planet." With "Poseidon's Shield," the artist pays homage to the captivating beauty and enigmatic allure of Earth's oceans, a realm that remains largely uncharted despite its vastness, as only approximately 5% of the world's oceans have been explored. Recognizing the need to expand our understanding of the creatures and treasures hidden beneath the waves, the imperative of safeguarding these majestic waters, both the visible and the unseen, is eloquently expressed through Natalia Kapchuk's masterpiece, "Poseidon's Shield" (2023). Drawing inspiration from Greek mythology and the interplay of strength and vulnerability, Kapchuk employs her unique mixed-media techniques, meticulously crafting her artwork with acrylics, pigments, clay, resin, and delicate touches of gold leaf on wood. The commanding presence of gold in the artwork, reminiscent of a protective shield for the mesmerizing blue depths below, carries a layer of irony. Despite its authoritative appearance, the artist employs gold to symbolize an illusory sense of divine-like protection, while simultaneously highlighting its true elemental nature as an imperfect and less suitable defensive force. This dichotomy mirrors the delicate yet powerful essence of the ocean itself, echoing the paradox of its forceful might and susceptibility to external influences that can harm its inhabitants and the broader world. @kapchuk #PoseidonsShield #NewArtWork #TheLostPlanet #EcoSistem #NataliaKapchuk #KapchukArt #EcoArt #EcoSistem #Sustainability #ContemporaryArt

In mid-July, an abnormal heatwave swept across numerous southern European cities. For instance, on July 18th, in Rome, the temperature soared to +41.8 degrees Celsius, as reported by The Telegraph, the local meteorological service. Similarly, mid-July temperatures in Greece reached a scorching 46 degrees Celsius. Spain and Switzerland also experienced extreme temperatures. The repercussions of these soaring temperatures were evident with a rise in forest fires, substantial hail, and torrential rainfall. The chief factor behind this scenario is an anticyclone originating in the Sahara desert. Simultaneously, it's human activities that are actively contributing to climate change, thereby worsening global warming. Eco-activist and artist Natalia Kapchuk expresses concern about the looming repercussions of climate change. This concern is a recurring theme in many of her works within The Lost Planet series. Take, for example, her piece "Ice Shelter," 2020, where #NataliaKapchuk delves into the vulnerability of the ice caps atop the Himalayan Mountains—a region sensitive to shifts in temperature. The work also underscores the peril of losing a substantial portion of the mountain ice cover by the century's end. Concurrently, Kapchuk's admiration for the exquisite beauty of the Himalayan Mountains is palpable, accentuated by the polished and reflective surface of the "Ice Shelter" piece. Through her art, @Kapchuk urges viewers to contemplate the losses we're incurring. #IceShelter #GlobalWarming #AbnormalTemperatures #NataliaKapchuk #KapchukArt #TheLostPlanet #EcoArt #EcoSistem #Sustainability #ContemporaryArt

On March 1, 2019, the UN General Assembly officially declared the period from 2021 to 2030 as the Decade of Ecosystem Restoration. Throughout these ten years, all endeavors are towards restoring deteriorated and destroyed ecosystems, serving as a potent strategy to combat climate change and enhance food security, water availability, and biodiversity. The deterioration of terrestrial and marine ecosystems adversely impacts the well-being of over 3 billion individuals. Nevertheless, the research underscores that more than two billion hectares of the world's deforested and degraded landscapes possess the potential for recovery, presenting a considerable opportunity for their preservation. Eco-activist and artist Natalia Kapchuk highlights the frailty and susceptibility of ecosystems in her piece "Self-isolation, 2020." This work exemplifies the vulnerability of an oasis to the adverse impacts of climate change. Insufficient precipitation leads to droughts, a decline in groundwater levels, water scarcity, exacerbated lands, degradation, and soil salinization. #Oasis #EcoSistem #UN #DecadeonEcosystemRestoration #SelfIsolation #NataliaKapchuk #KapchukArt #TheLostPlanet #EcoArt #EcoSistem #Sustainability #ContemporaryArt

This alarming statistic underscores the urgency of finding solutions to water scarcity and promoting its rational use while preserving and safeguarding the planet's waterways.
