A tragic incident occurred in the Margalla Hills, where a group of teenage friends went for a hike on Trail 5. Sadly, one of them fell behind and was found dead after a two-day search by rescue authorities. Our heartfelt prayers and condolences go out to the family of the deceased during this difficult time. In light of this sad incident, as a community, we would like to offer our volunteer support to the authorities to help prevent such tragedies in the future. We propose that search and rescue missions in the Margalla Hills be conducted jointly by civil authorities and local communities. We have expert hikers who are very familiar with the terrain and trails of the Margalla Hills. Our expertise and skills should be utilized in time critical rescue missions. A mechanism should be developed whereby civic authorities can immediately call on a rescue volunteers group to initiate search parties when someone goes missing. By working together, we can enhance the safety and response capabilities in the Margalla Hills. Over 100 members of #TeamIRU participated, bringing along their kids and families for a night of fitness and fun. A huge congratulations to Rabeela Farooq for winning the women’s 5k! Shoutout to our speed squad champ Umar Zaman for securing third place, and to Abu Bakar, another speed squad star, who completed the 10k in an impressive 39 minutes, earning 7th place. We want to extend a huge congratulations to @drsaif253 for completing the Toronto Marathon in an impressive time of 3hrs 58min while proudly representing Islamabad Run With Us in his Islamabad Marathon shirt. Not only has Saifullah showcased our brand in marathons around the world, including the Chicago and New York Marathons but he also carried the Palestinian flag across the finish line, standing in solidarity with the Palestinian cause. This showed his support for the Palestinian people. It was a big deal and showed that Saifullah stands with them. Saifullah doesn’t just run, though. He also helps out in important ways. Recently, he went to Gaza with a group of doctors to give medical help to people there. It’s awesome to see someone using their running skills to make the world a better place. #TeamIRU did an amazing job managing another mega and successful event. Here are a few action shots from the hydration points of the #MargallaHillsHalfMarathon. We had Four hydration points along the route: the first at Trail 2 parking (5.5 Km), the second at Trail 4 parking (7 Km), the third at Talhar Mor (14 km), and the fourth at Monal Pirsohawa road (Approx 16km). We didn’t set up any hydration points on the main trails due to the obvious reason that it would be difficult for us to clean the trails after the event. Our team made sure to clean all the hydration points area at the end of the event.
