My daughter knows how to sell intuitively... Picture this... It was hot and she had her own drink stand. The first thing she did was create an "offer" the people needed. Then she kindly asked people if they needed a drink because it was a hot day and they might be thirsty. She was meeting her customer's needs and politely pointing out what they may have been struggling with and how she could help. There was no pushy sales. She didn't have to feel "icky" about it. She just asked. She had something she could offer others and people in the street on a hot day had a pain point that needed serving. It is about serving. How could you reframe your own offering to guide people to buy it in a way that doesn't feel gross or icky? That is about asking and serving? This Saturday I watched a beautiful movie with my husband called Good Will Hunting. It was about the guy who was math genius and had the potential to change the course of history. However, he wasn’t able to do anything with his gifts and exceptional talent even though he knew he was gifted. Turns out, he was dealing with some deep seated emotional issues that weren’t resolved which is why he wasn’t able to open himself up to receive love from the world for his gifts. Have you seen the Netflix documentary Twin Flames 🤯?! It's pretty much a masterclass in manipulation, all the things that are wrong in our industry, and a guide on what not to do if you want to sell with integrity. Knowing this, here’s my simple rules of thumb that help me decide to lean in or back off in a sales conversation:⁠ ⁠ I only sell to people who have “raised their hand to be sold to”. ⁠ ⁠ Not sure on this one? This is the difference between cold pitching someone and someone reaching out to you, booking a call with you, or agreeing to a sales conversation.⁠ ⁠ 2. I ask for consent before pitching. ⁠ ⁠ Meaning, I ask for permission every step of the way in sales conversations, and I only make an offer if someone has explicitly indicated they’re interested and want to be sold to.⁠ ⁠ 3. I only talk about the investment if someone actually wants what’s on offer. ⁠ ⁠ Meaning, I do my best to ensure who I’m speaking to is clear on what I’m selling, that it’s a fit, and that they understand how my program would support and benefit them…and that’s all something they’re excited about and want.⁠ ⁠ If someone hasn’t raised their hand to be sold to or given buying cues, hasn’t given consent to hear my offer or pricing, or doesn’t actually want what I’m selling, I know, it’s not an objection. ⁠ ⁠ It’s that they’re just not into my offer at this moment, and that’s OK. ⁠ ⁠ But, then I also don’t try to overcome their non-existent objection by convincing or proving because that’s tone deaf and literally solving the wrong problem. ⁠ ⁠ Instead, I listen, respect, and release, and move on to someone who’s into me and WANTS to be sold to and work together.⁠ ⁠ XO, Kim P.S. You already sell and navigate objections all the time in your everyday life - so why does it feel harder in your business?⁠ ⁠ Think about it: you sell your kids on eating their veggies or going to bed on time and “overcome” their objections to only eat pizza, mac ‘n’ cheese, and stay up with the grownups (at least most of the time, tbh, kids can be pretty good salespeople themselves 😜).⁠ ⁠ You sell your friends on the podcast they just need to listen to or the brunch spot you want to go to, and you sell your spouse on the extra week of vacation and navigate their financial or time objections.⁠ ⁠ So why does this feel so different in your business?⁠ ⁠ When you’re selling your own work, and putting dollar signs next to your ideas, craft, talent, and what you’re also hoping will have big success, pay your bills, or get you more likes online - selling can suddenly get a lot more personal than, well, selling in your personal life.⁠ ⁠ I know when I was cocktail serving during my acting days, I didn’t make it mean anything about ME or my worth when someone had a price objection about an expensive bottle of champagne or was wavering on sticking around to order another drink or not. ⁠ ⁠ I also didn’t take it on if someone said they didn’t like what they ordered - I just fixed it the best I could and moved on. ⁠ ⁠ I also wasn’t worried about being unethical, pushy, or manipulative when I sold to someone who walked into the bar and sat down at a table. I saw it as my job and quite literally being of service.⁠ ⁠ Selling was pretty easy to do well because it’s something I already had tons of experience doing in my personal life, and I didn’t make it personal - as a result, making epic tips and take home cash felt relatively easy as well.⁠ ⁠ When clients think they suck at sales, don’t know how to sell, that it’s gross or not “nice”, out of integrity, or complicated to navigate someone’s objections or dissatisfaction, I remind them of this truth: you’re already selling successfully in your personal life.⁠ ⁠ You just don’t label it sales, put a metric ton of pressure on the outcome, or make yourself out to suck if you don’t get the result you want.⁠ ⁠ Continued 👇🏻

When I was acting, I had multiple sales to make to book any part.⁠ ⁠ Obviously, you first had to sell yourself on your talent and on BEing the role.⁠ ⁠ You had to sell your agent on trusting your work so they’d submit you for the part. ⁠ ⁠ You had to sell the casting director on your take, so they’d feel excited and willing to pass you along as a choice and sometimes fight for you to be considered. ⁠ ⁠ Then, your audition had to sell the director and producers on why you.⁠ ⁠ Every acting job was the result of multiple successful sales that empowered decision makers to advocate on your behalf.⁠ ⁠ Why am I telling you this? So often in your business, you have to get buy-in from multiple decision makers to book your next client.⁠ ⁠ Ever had a sales call with someone who needs to get approval from a partner or someone in their company before they can invest? ⁠ ⁠ Maybe you want to leverage affiliate marketing in your next launch? ⁠ ⁠ Or maybe you just want to encourage more word-of-mouth marketing?⁠ ⁠ When there’s more than one person involved in the investment decision, you have multiple sales to make. ⁠ ⁠ The conversation is no longer only about helping the person in front of you work through any objections and make an empowered buying decision. It’s also about supporting the person in front of you to understand what they need to know to feel confident and supported to be an advocate of your product or service. ⁠ ⁠ The same way you need to be sold on your offer to sell effectively to someone else, anyone you’re asking to sell for you - which someone going to speak to their spouse about investing in your service is doing, the same way a course affiliate is - also needs to be sold on your offer. AND, they likely need some resources to then be able to advocate buying from you.⁠ ⁠ Bringing it back to my example, for a casting director to put an unknown actor’s audition tape in front of a big director, they need to really be bought-in because it’s not only about the actor’s talent, but also their relationship, reputation, and trust with the person they’re referring TO. ⁠ ⁠ Continued 👇🏻

Honestly, getting handed success sucks. Because then you always want to live up to it and recreate the same success but 👉👉 when you don’t have the confidence built up the expectation outweighs the vision. That just makes it harder to take your next big leap. And somehow, the more you “want” success the longer you’re living in the “wanting.” The “wanting” becomes an irky pace to be. And whist manifestation teachers keep saying “tap into your desire” you just want to 🤢 And, full circle, that’s because success doesn’t come from the God or the Universe. When I started my business seven years ago, I picked up a temporary side gig while I also worked my 9-5 so I could bring in some additional income to invest into my business (specifically in coaching).⁠ ⁠ I represented a liquor company and would go to high-end wine & liquor shops in the city offering taste tests as people came in, with the goal of selling a bottle to the consumers. I was paid a flat hourly rate and a bonus commission for any bottle sold while doing a demonstration. ⁠ ⁠ I was there to make money - and, frankly, to work as little as possible so I had time to pour into coaching - and that meant going after those bonuses. ⁠ ⁠ So, after I finished each demo, I’d come out from behind the stand and walk up to every single person that entered the store, bring them over to do a private taste test, and then walk them over to the aisle where that bottle we were selling was. ⁠ ⁠ Then, I’d tell them why it made sense for them to buy this liquor instead of their usual go-to brand with specific reasons based on what they’d shared with me. ⁠ ⁠ Guess what? ⁠ ⁠ I sold a ridiculous amount of these bottles simply because I was willing to go up to people, invite them over, give them that free taste test, helped them understand why this liquor would serve their needs, and made it SO easy for them to find and buy. ⁠ ⁠ I’m happy to report, I broke all the sales records and made the cash I needed to invest in coaching support - the company actually called the store to verify there wasn’t a mistake in my report and tried to offer me larger role 😜⁠ ⁠ Why am I sharing this with you? Aside from seeing the parallels of this approach and what works for you to sell in your business - on or offline. I’m sharing this because I also found it very fascinating at the time to witness the contrast between those liquor sales, when at the same time, I was also grinding it out online and wasn’t seeing the same sales results in my business.⁠ ⁠ Clearly, I understood marketing, sales, and how to generate cash. Clarity and strategy wasn’t the issue. Action also wasn’t the “missing” piece, I was werking.⁠ ⁠ Continue 👇🏻

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗕𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗕𝘂𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗖𝘂𝗸𝗼𝗼 (𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙞𝙨 𝙠𝙚𝙚𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙗𝙚𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙗𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙖𝙩 𝙨𝙖𝙡𝙚𝙨) When people say, “I can’t afford it,” it can be for a lot of different reasons. Many entrepreneurs will brush this under the rug and declare: “They just don’t believe in themselves.” Sometimes, that’s true. The problem with this dismissive reasoning is that it blocks the opportunity to dig deeper and learn to be better at handling objections. The key to this, and every other objection, is finding out whether the challenge is REAL or just fear. Sometimes, it is fear or lack of belief in themselves. Sometimes, they genuinely don’t have the money or time. It’s our jobs to treat them with compassion and help to get to the root of the objection. This is one of the many factors in why my clients come to me – because they don’t believe the pushy tactics are appropriate for coaches or healers… And my evolved way of selling, which includes a process to 𝙖𝙙𝙙𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙨 – instead of overcoming objections – gives them the ability to 𝙘𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝟲/𝟭𝟶 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙩𝙖𝙡𝙠 𝙩𝙤 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙢𝙨…𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵’s 3𝘹 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘺 𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘤𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘴… without the need to smudge their office or sacrifice their integrity. If you’re not generating the leads or sales you want, I promise, it isn’t because you aren’t good enough or there’s something wrong with your offer (no one’s inside your offer if you’re not selling, so it literally can’t be this!).⁠ ⁠ There IS a good chance you might simply not be taking enough sales actions.⁠ ⁠ Or, a possibility it FEELS like you’re selling a ton, when you’re really pouring out so much free value and leaning heavily on indirect sales actions instead of making direct offers. ⁠ ⁠ Which lengthens the sales process and the customer journey that’s already getting longer for many businesses because your people aren’t seeing your offer frequently enough to get on board and ready to buy.⁠ ⁠ This is why I’m a fan of indirect (keep doing those!) I know that you want to build relationships. You want to share value first before asking for the sale.⁠ ⁠ You and I are here 👏🏻for👏🏻it👏🏻⁠ ⁠ And, what I see through clients is how confusing this can often be when it comes to setting and holding boundaries…and even understanding what kind of energy exchange is serving and leads to right-fit clients.⁠ ⁠ The story I hear and see play out is, “Well, that means I just need to give it all away for free. I need to coach people in the DMs. I need to find people to coach in Facebook group posts. I need to answer everyone's questions. I need to be super available. I happily pay my colorist a lot of money to offer me less and do less work. Let me explain + share what this has to do with you, your business, and what you charge.⁠ ⁠ I could pay less to have someone *both* cut and color my hair, and I have zero desire to do either. ⁠ ⁠ Call me a snob 😜but, I’m pretty particular when it comes to my hair. I’ve also had my hair almost melted from a bad dye-job, turned neon orange down the part (think radioactive skunk 💁🏼‍♀️), and had it break off due to neglect during one process. ⁠ ⁠ What I’ve learned from those investments gone wrong is good color that also takes care of your hair is best done by a specialist. Getting it done right costs a little more to technically get a little less, so someone can focus on doing less, better. ⁠ ⁠ Specialists niche in and tend to do a few things exceptionally well at the exclusion of not offering other services…which is why I happily now pay someone who’s an expert at blonde color double to not include a haircut.⁠ ⁠ What does the pickiness about my hair have to do with you and your business? There’s a lot of talk about ‘premium pricing’ and ‘premium clients’ (I’ll save my rant on my distaste for that term for another post 😜), which seems to have everyone racing to charge more.⁠ ⁠ I also see through my clients how often increasing rates can also kick up enoughness and a want to do more and more.⁠ ⁠ And, while price gouging, not understanding what the market can bare or will pay, or not delivering value on the backend of *any* price tag aren’t cool, ethical, or smart business, most of the people I work with tend to be undervaluing and undercharging for their services.⁠ ⁠ What you can see through my hair care is there are plenty of circumstances where clients are willing to pay more for less - because there’s an increase in value.⁠ ⁠ There’s absolutely a need and room for generalists, and usually we pay more for specialized services and offers and the expertise that helps us address a specific problem, concern, or meet a desire better than a general option ever could.⁠ ⁠ Continued 👇🏻

The rule I’ve had in my business from Day 1 when I was making ZERO dollars that helped me scale to making a million revenue in just under 4 years⁠ ⁠ When I started my business, I had just moved to Manhattan. I made just enough to pay my rent and cover my bills at the time. (I'm not exaggerating, Starbucks was a luxury I couldn’t swing at the time. And, I picked up a second job so I could invest in my coach.)⁠ ⁠ But the rule I've always held, even back then when cash was tight, is I don't make offers, sell, create packages, or make decisions based on the money I *personally* need or want. ⁠ ⁠ Look - of course, money is important. I personally love money. Money is one of the languages of business, and we also live in a 3D reality where you need money to invest in and run your business, to pay yourself, and resource yourself.⁠ ⁠ And, the truth I’ve realized over the past seven years that might not be palatable for to hear (but, I promise pays off personally as well) is business doesn’t exist to serve our personal financial needs…⁠ ⁠ Making great take home cash is a beautiful byproduct of running a profitable, sustainable business doing the work that lights you up⁠ ⁠ AND, at the end of the day, a business exists to help others solve their problems, get results, or get their needs and desires met.⁠ ⁠ That's really why you put a dollar sign next to an offer and sell something.⁠ ⁠ But!! I’ve found the more I focus on this ‘rule’, and the less I'm focused on selling or setting rates based on what Kim needs and wants, the less I make my business about me, and the more I make it about the people I'm serving and what they need…⁠ ⁠ the faster your business grows and you’re also able to also pay yourself really well. ⁠ ⁠ What do you think about this ‘rule’ for business and how you think about what you sell and charge? With time, you may find that you become more attuned to your intuition. ➡️➡️ Engage in creative activities: Engaging in creative activities such as writing, painting, or dancing can help you access your intuition. Creativity involves tapping into the subconscious mind, where intuition resides. When you engage in a creative activity, try to let go of any preconceived ideas or expectations and allow your intuition to guide you. ➡️➡️➡️ Trust your instincts: Trusting your instincts is key to opening up your intuition. When you have a gut feeling or a hunch, don't dismiss it or second-guess yourself. Instead, take a moment to tune in to your intuition and see if it's telling you something important. The more you trust your instincts, the more you'll be able to access your intuition and make decisions that are in alignment with your inner wisdom. Trusting your INTUITION can be a powerful tool in decision-making and problem-solving. Intuition is the ability to understrand something immediately, without the need for conscious reasoning. It is a deep-seated feeling or sensation that arises within you and guides you towards a particular course of action. When you are facing a decision.. here at 4 tips that can help with trusting your intuition. 1 - What sensations do you feel in your body when you think of the situation/question? Do you feel like you have a knot in your stomach or are you relaxed? Do you have a feeling of excitement or dread? These can give you a clue on which way to go. 2 - Cultivate a quite mind by practicing being in the moment. This allows you to connect with your inner wisdom without distractions. Take a few moments each day to sit quietly, breathe deeply and tun into your intuition. 3 - Writing down your thoughts and feeling can help you get clarity of what you truly want. Sometimes what we initially 'think'... isn't what we truly desire until we see it on paper. 4 - Fear is one the of the biggest obstacles in trusting your intuition. By taking inspired action when you feel inspired or excited (that's your intuition nudging you), you are counteracting fear. Take note of the outcome when you act. When I still lived in LA and was doing the acting thing, I worked at a bar that hosted an actor’s connection night.⁠ ⁠ I watched every week how actors would show up, have some free drinks, talk to each other, talk about acting classes, the extra work they were signed up for, the pay the bills gig they knew about, and maybe connect with a photographer to take some new photos.⁠ ⁠ Week after week, they’d show up, and pat themselves on the back for the proactive steps they were taking and how they kept themselves busy.⁠ ⁠ Meanwhile, on another night of the week, a friend of mine who was a regularly working actor would come in. Quietly sit in the corner for an hour or two, eat dinner, study his lines for an upcoming audition or job, and leave to get home and in bed for an early call time or gym session.⁠ ⁠ Why am I telling you this? ⁠ ⁠ It’s easy to confuse “massive action” for what moves the needle forward.⁠ ⁠ But, what I saw week after week is how you can hide behind busyness for years. When, it’s generally the 1% uncomfortable or uncommon action that's the catalyst for growth.⁠ ⁠ I’m so not hating or judging, I know how stretchy putting yourself out there as an actor and entrepreneur both are - and, I also know you can trick yourself and play at both, showing up for the events, to connect with peers, or tinkering with new photos, your website, in canva, you name it.⁠ ⁠ And, having booked a dozen indie films and just as many commercials and now running a booked out, multi-six-figure business, I know it’s when you decide to show up and commit to your role - as actor or CEO - and take action of the few actions - the often uncomfortable, or monotonous - this is when the game changes for you and you influence others to feel, transform, and hire you.⁠ ⁠ ⁠ I’m also not hating on “massive action” - there are times your business or art require a little healthy hustle of you.⁠ ⁠ But, there’s a big difference between doing for the sake of doing so you can tell yourself or others, “Hey, look at all the things I’m doing!” or check something of your to do list⁠ ⁠ Continued ⬇️

I was handed a wad of over a thousand dollars cash - more than once - over the ten years I waited tables while acting. In fact, I was once handed $1500 cash ON TOP of my $500-ish tip which was already far over the standard 20%, along with an offer for a six-figured salaried job. Not bad for a slow night at the bar. What does this have to do with you, your business, and making big money? That $2k tip night started out as a slow, rainy night with zero customers. I was given the option to go home and let the bartender stay for any stragglers because it was dead. Instead, I offered to stay and tend bar so the bartender could go home - he wanted to, and I know there’s always opportunities to make money when you’re open to them, and I was there to make money. An hour later a small party in suits came in. I worked in a trendy part of NYC at the time, and business attired people were not our usual customer base or who I’d expect to get a roll of bills from. But, waiting tables and tending bar has taught me the golden rule of treating and serving everyone like royalty, and ideally leaving people better off than you met them. So, I did what I did best: serve, listen, pay attention, know what the client wants, make a suggestion for what you didn’t even know you wanted, anticipate needs, and make the host look good because of how well everyone was treated and the great time they were able to have in our otherwise empty bar. They felt like they temporarily owned the place and had a private high-end venue instead of being stuck in a dead bar they ducked into to avoid the storm. Imagine if I had gone home that night with the story that it was pointless, and I wasn’t going to make any money anyway. Or if I had been cranky at my luck, and annoyed when the only table that came in was a bunch of boring suits I just knew wouldn’t order much or tip anything over the standard amount. If I had begrudgingly taken their order and phoned it in so I could get my 20%? If I believed it was a waste of time and had an attitude of you’re lucky to be here while I scrolled my phone behind the bar. If I told myself what I needed was more people to make any real money.
