Over these years, Hershman Leeson did various real life activities as Roberta Breitmore - including getting a bank account and a library card, renting an apartment and going on dates. Roberta had her own clothing, make up, walk, gestures and handwriting. Hershman Leeson didn’t plan for the character to be so developed but ‘when you start to define how you make somebody real, she needs to be fleshed out and have a history.’ ‘Roberta Construction Chart #1’ gives detailed instructions on how to create Roberta’s look, also highlighting the tropes and traits that tend to be associated with femininity. Mermay 2024 Day 21: Sequential @mermay_official Sequential Art is an art form that uses images placed in sequence for graphic storytelling or to convey information. Utilized in comics, animation and many other art forms. I’ve based today’s prompt on the zoetrope, a cylinder with vertical slits down the sides. My zoetrope M16-23 is currently part of a group show @dcontemporary Here is some information about the wooden stand. The stand of the zoetrope houses the electromechanical components that allow the shutter to spin. It also presents the display. Its design takes inspiration from media furniture. Specifically, my grandfather’s vintage console stereo. As a child that device was about the same height as me. The dials were at eye level. It came from an era when media and objects were co-dependent. I found this object fascinating. Not only was it visually imposing, it played sound. Finished in wood veneer, the stereo featured a large speaker with a fine vertical grill. On M16-23 that element is purely aesthetic. The large illuminated button references volume and tuner controls. It also signals to viewers that this artwork is electronic. The legs of the stand were hand made from solid walnut. They support a box for the mechanism concealed by the laser cut fascia. Mains power routes through the interior of one leg. The entire stand is hand finished in wax to pronounce the grain of the wood. I love this new record by Dua Lipa! It’s the perfect summer album. But I’m afraid I won’t listen to this vinyl a lot. Although it looks really cool, both sides sound horrible.😱 I would like to point out that I am not the type of person to complain often. I ordered a lot of records from Bloodrecs and I was always very happy with the special editions and zoetropes they make and the sound quality.
