Photography is one of my go to de-stressors. I’ve fallen in love with the different styles and emotion making a photo can evoke. Most notably the work of William Eggleston has captured my imagination and inspired my deep dive into film photography. Don’t get me wrong I still love my Canon DSLR’s and use them regularly however there is just something about the mindset one has when only a select number of captures is available. The above photo was taken by a good friend of mine while on an adventure out by the Southern California coast. In our fast paced world it can be hard to take time or realize the outside sometimes and we all need some sort of outlet to decompress… or to stop and smell the roses as some say. I’m interested to know what hobbies or practices you all use to decompress. First there was #WilliamEggleston, then there was #JoelMeyerowitz and now there’s Emmett Wasserman. Emmett was one of my students back when I had time to be teaching photography and storytelling. We called it “Through the Looking Class”. . I can’t remember laughing so hard or getting so much fulfillment from other people’s progress.
