When I saw this image, I was SO SURE this would be my headshot for nationals. I was/still am so IN LOVE with this photo. I would like to be an ambassador for the USOA brand by bringing the motto to life by empowering women, inspiring others, and uplifting everyone to believe that they can do whatever they want as long as they believe in the power of their dreams. To be truly successful in life, you must give back to the community as I have done with my ACE, Arts Cultural Enrichment programs for people with intellectual disabilities. To feel a sense of fulfillment when you show your passion for the arts to others and use these skills to help them gain self-confidence, greater self-esteem, and leadership skills to overcome disabilities by understanding that we all think differently and infusing the arts in their everyday life through project-based learning and thinking outside the box. Quest for the Crown, Day 12 Packing for the Pageant It has been a hectic few days. Spent the last 2 days preparing for the pageant and packing. We finally arrived in Vegas Monday afternoon, saw two Vegas shows, a magic show, and an Elvis Tribute, and drove the Vegas strip. Like the firecracker I am, I get the ball rolling, have fun, and enjoy Vegas with my family while focusing on my self-care and future vision as a national titleholder. I last had Wi-Fi or a signal a while ago, so it took me a little long to post. But I'm looking forward to what this week will teach me and how much I will grow from this experience. It will be a learning experience that I will cherish no matter what happens. Being able to have fun by being myself is my main goal. This trip is a dream come true. I would like to be an ambassador for the USOA brand by bringing the motto to life by empowering women, inspiring others, and uplifting everyone to believe that they can do whatever they want as long as they believe in the power of their dreams. To be truly successful in life, you must give back to the community as I have done with my ACE, Arts Cultural Enrichment programs for people with intellectual disabilities. To feel a sense of fulfillment when you show your passion for the arts to others and use these skills to help them gain self-confidence, greater self-esteem, and leadership skills to overcome disabilities by understanding that we all think differently and infusing the arts in their everyday life through project-based learning and thinking outside the box. My family paid for them to fly over to NYC then travel to Philadelphia because that is where my family traveled to the Fairmount/Spring Garden neighborhood. Their parents worked at factories, owned a Bodega/Bars in the neighborhood and lived on a very poor budget. They work hard to lived the American Dream and the pursuit of happiness. My parents are the epitome of the American dream and are very successful entrepreneurs, together they built a real estate empire that embodies the dream I hope to continue in the future. 1. Puerto Rico Isn’t an Island (It’s Several) 2. Puerto Rico is a US Territory since 1898 3. Puerto Ricans Have the US Citizenship since 1917 4. Puerto Ricans Don’t Vote in US Elections unless they live in USA 5. Puerto Ricans Have both US citizenship and Puerto Rican citizenship. 6. Puerto Rico is Still a Colony - Christopher Columbus arrived in Puerto Rico in 1493, and claimed it as a colony of Spain, the island was never a free country. 7. Quest for the Crown Day 7! My Greatest Accomplishments! I am a very accomplished woman who passionately pursues her goals persistently and empowers others to do the same. Throughout my life, I have accomplished many wonderful things that I cannot even pick one accomplishment. I was fortunate to have such a great support system. Growing up with a learning disability, it was tough to excel in school, so graduating high school with six different awards and scholarship money was one of my most significant accomplishments. Another accomplishment was being on a national TV show called "The School is Cool report. I inspired others through performing arts at my studio at CEG PERFORMING ARTS ACADEMYl, which is an accomplishment in it's itself. Being invited to sing with Whitney Houston at the Whitney Houston foundation charity event in 1999 made my dream come true. Being crowned Miss Philadelphia in 1999 as the first Latina representing my hometown by doing over 150 events, acquiring over 25 different sponsors for the organization, and recruiting women to compete in the program the following year, was another accomplishment. To be selected as ABC Channel 6 Community Service Advisory Board winner in 2002, most of all being the first to graduate in my family to earn my Master's Degree in Education. They are one of many accomplishments I've done in my life, but all these accomplishments have shaped me into the woman I am today. These accomplishments are forever in my life goals as I planned to pursue them years ago. But all these accomplishments have shaped me into the woman I am today. As quoted by Maya Angelou, "Pretty women wonder where my secret lies. I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size. But when I start to tell them, They think I'm telling lies. Quest for the Crown Day 6! What is your favorite part of the competition? "All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players. They have their exits and entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts." By William Shakespeare I LOVE THE STAGE!!!!!! If the stage could be my second home, it would be a dream come true as a natural performer. I love to entertain the audience, and I feel so confident onstage just being I was confidently me!!! I did not win a state title last year, but it wasn't about winning for me. It was about being myself and just doing something different that always made me happy. After being retired from pageantry for over 25 years, this was a significant experience, and it gave me a chance to dress up and represent who I was no matter what I looked like. I haven't dressed up like this in so many years because I was so used to being partly behind the scenes working with pageantry as a director, pageant coach, studio owner, a mother of 2 girls that are special needs, a caretaker for my parents, their properties and the many other projects I'm involved with throughout the years. How do I juggle everything you say? I just DO!!!! And there's nothing I CAN'T do. Many people ask me, "Why am I doing this after so many years? You have a lot on your plate, and you don't need to do this pageant". Yes, I do, but everyone needs a hobby, right? This is definitely an expensive hobby, but it makes me happy. I missed being involved in so many events myself. Incredibly, when it came to representing my community is rewarding to me. Honestly, I'm 46 years old. I needed an opportunity to feel better about myself, take care of myself and my needs, and not let the other things I do take over my life. When I'm up on that stage, it's all about me!!! And I love every moment of it.

Quest for the crown Day 3! - Why USOA? Why did I choose the USOA program? This program's motto is to empower, inspire, and uplift women to their highest standards no matter what they do in life. When I joined the pageant last year, I had no idea how wonderful of a system, and PA State Director Denise McKeon would be, so I took a leap of faith. It was my first pageant experience in over 25 years, and I did not know what to expect. But I only wanted to have some pageant fun and be myself on that stage, no matter what anyone thought of me. I wanted to show that I had the confidence and the personality to be on that stage, confidently being me. From the moment I spoke to the PA director on the phone interview, I knew it was the right pageant choice for me. She was very welcoming and would offer you the clothes off her back to help you feel optimistic and friendly throughout the pageant weekend. But because of how much fun I had last year, I decided to re-compete again this year, and this time I decided to compete at nationals if given the opportunity as USOA Ms. Puerto Rico 2023. This pageant inspired me to get involved in pageantry again and inspire others to do the same. The feeling I felt on that stage on the day of the pageant was so empowering and felt great, almost like a bit of fire that had been blown out for years, finally becoming lit again. It is inspiring and empowering for any woman to be exposed to this uplifting experience. As a single mother of two children with learning disabilities, the uplifting experience of seeing them watching me on that stage made me the proudest mom ever. It was the most emotional experience that I will never forget.

Quest for the crown Day 2! - Platform ACE: Arts Cultural Enrichment Programs for Children with Learning Disabilities. My platform chose me! As a young child, I was diagnosed with auditory processing, expressive skills disorders, dyslexia, and ADHD - and I struggled throughout elementary and junior high school. My middle school teacher once told me, “you will never graduate high school; you will probably drop out of school.” That statement completely changes the course of my academic future. Everything changed when I was accepted to Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts as a vocal major and drama and dance minor. I was introduced to a different approach to learning that opened up the world for me. My reading and organizational skills quickly improved, and it wasn’t long until I started winning and earning academic awards. I saw firsthand how incorporating the arts into traditional education can help students soar - especially those who would otherwise be left behind. After graduation, I founded ACE, to expand on these principles and provide quality, arts-based education for students who need it the most. After 25 years, ACE continues to deliver the highest standards of performing arts education, integrating traditional education with creative arts while helping students build confidence and self-esteem and learn collaboration, conflict resolution, communication, and good citizenship skills. In Exactly 15 days, I will officially be competing in the national pageant of United States of America Pageants as USOA Ms. Puerto Rico. I am 46 years old and the mother of two beautiful girls named Angelina (17) and Valentina (8). I consider myself a “Philly Rican”, because I was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but travel often to my parents, birthplace of Puerto Rico every summer for vacation. I am fluent in both English, Spanish, and a little bit of Italian. I love to travel, and I’ve traveled over 35 states and 20 countries in my lifetime. I hope to continue exploring this beautiful world, and experiencing different cultures and countries across the globe. I believe that you are completely well-versed when you’ve experienced life in many other countries, as well as here in America. I love the performing arts, history and architecture. For over 27 years, I have been involved in the performing arts both as an educator and as a performing artist. Countdown to the crown March 12! 👑🙏 I think God every day for the amount of people that I’ve touched or influence in any way, throughout my years involving myself with the community and my personal platform. Josalyn was one of my students at CEG when she was 13 years old. Her mother did not have enough money to put her in the program so I decided to take her under my wing and be her mentor. Josalyn was very smart and witty young teenager who had a lot to offer to the community. She wanted always to build her own empire, she also love to dance and I influenced her to go to a creative and performing arts high school. Sometimes you don’t know how much you have change and affected other peoples lives by your kindness and your good heartedness. But I’ve seen this every day of my life in many ways. The best part is when I hear it over, lifespan of 35 years of being involved with the community. I was always considered a local celebrity that has given so much towards others and performing arts, and in Philadelphia. Later on, she return the favor and help me sell one of my investment properties and buy another investment property. But with that money she earned in her commission she not only bought a duplex, but she paid off her car. I love inspiring others and seeing how much they’ve grown and teaching their children’s children to do the same. I will always be passionate about the arts and my students.
