17th May 1975 Greenslade on tour with their Time and Tide album. OK. So arguably I could and should have been revising for my impending O Level exams which were just a couple of weeks away. But this show, and the band, left a lasting musical impression on me. I was still buying their releases as recently as 2019. Cherry Red Records produced an excellent series of CDs between 2018 and 2019. Very nicely presented original albums each including live recordings from 1973 through to 1975. The O Levels? Not good. Failed them all first time round. Every single one. To this day my Mother believed grades D and E were passes. I’ve never had the heart to tell her. Ah well. Today is my birthday and I’m doing some reflecting. This has been one of the happiest years of my life, because I found a little space for myself to have fun doing something I love to do. I’ve been writing in the watch community for just over a year, so I went back and picked the five articles I wrote in the last year that meant the most to me personally. If you go to the link in my bio I’ve moved these five to the top in case you’d like to read them. 1. The first article is the first article I ever wrote in watches. It was on my Tudor BB58 Bronze and why it’s my Milestone watch. @timetidewatches were kind enough to publish it. With help and guidance from @andrew_mcutchen and @zach.blass . The next three articles are all @wornandwound pieces approved and edited by @zkazan , who has been incredibly supportive of me and my writing. 2. The second article is on my grandfather’s @casio_us , and why it’s both special and funny to me. 3. The third is about a @hamiltonwatch pocket watch that I had fixed for a special friend. 4. The fourth is a piece on @moelsandco and @betinagreca , and why Betina and her watches are so special to the community. This piece was written after conducting five interviews with Betina, a person I believe has something truly special to offer the world of watches. 5. And the fifth was my first article I wrote for @mainspring.watch , about @buci.paris.watches and their incredible founder, @nousseima.b . We had such a powerful conversation .
