My weekly reading! Featuring my 2 new decks!! The stunning Tarot (the smaller cards) which is an independent deck, and the Dark Goddess Tarot (which is being used an an oracle because it very easily can be) I've only just got these cards from @sootandsalt and they are gorgeous!!! I am definitely easier to connect with the goddess cards vs the tarot...but that seems to be a me thing (considering I have 3 goddess decks now lol) So! Wed/Thursday will be the 8 of wands and Harionago. There is swift action commencing/ fast news...but the situation is not a win-win. It is not honest. Fri/Saturday is 2 of swords and Nemesis. As I was preparing for the new moon reading, I pulled the Queen of Pentacles from the @CrimsonAsteria & noticed the big bunny. Yes, the bunny caught my attention. I really love her other deck, and I missed this one at first because I was broke at the time. I wondered about the sword suit as merfolk. Then, as the new editions came out, I pulled out my hair...why didn't I just go without food or something. I just really like the first iteration of this deck. Sometimes I think artists are just painting with the muse...and it is an organic joy of creativity that can be felt. Oh if I can do that! I will.

Deck Review: The Stunning Tarot 3rd edition: When was the last time your heart went thumping non-stop? When I set my eyes on The Stunning Tarot by Jonasa Jaus. The illustrations is amazing, the colours is bold & daring. What’s there not to love when you get Witch, Mermaid, Arabian night & Egyptian all in a deck! The card size are bigger than the usual Tarot size of 12x7cm but slightly smaller than the Oracle size with a good card stock. I love big cards despite my small Asian hands. I absolutely do not understand why there are folks who hate big cards. The only bummer is perhaps there’s no accompanying guide book & the edges got bashed up if you do a lot of riffle shuffling. (Heart breaks, ain’t no going to do that anymore). The price point is reasonable given that it is an indie but shipping is a killer to Singapore, however I got it within 3 days. I absolutely adore the The Fool card, usually you get a happy guy stepping off a cliff or into unknown but here we have a girl holding an umbrella looking up into the sky wondering what’s next. The Lovers card is unusual too, a reluctant woman being kissed & you can see a shadow lurking in the background. I always explained that the Moon card as moon in the mirror & flower in the water based on a Chinese idiom (镜中月水中花) and was pleasantly surprised when I saw that it has a mirror in the Moon card. #31daysoftarot Day 2 - top Tarot decks of 2021. I only started studying Tarot at the beginning of March 2021, so all of my decks came to me in 2021. Therefore, I’ve limited my picks to decks that sort of came out in 2021. Tarot of the Abyss and Spirit Keepers Revelation did come out in 2021, the Stunning Tarot 3d Edition came out in 2021, and Superlunaris’s kickstarter shipped out I think in December 2020, so I think it still feels like a 2021 deck. These were easy choices. The artwork of Tarot of the Abyss is stunning, and its unique use of perspective makes it an original standout. SKT Revelation is a beast unto its self, a college level social studies/comparative cultures course rolled into an esoteric, magical tool. It still has me a bit befuddled, and we’ll see if it actually becomes a reading deck for me. The Stunning Tarot is just that - stunning, with it’s bold color palette and its mishmash of fairy tale worlds. This deck speaks to me - but I struggle with it because it is not speaking to me with the creator’s intent. I’m comfortable reading it as a Marseille deck, which was her intent, doing open, intuitive readings based on the images in the cards, suits and numerology. But, I can’t embrace the meanings she has in her guidebook, and I wish I just hadnt downloaded it. If you put a dead mermaid on a rock, impaled with 10 swords, I am going to see defeat, not “harmony between evolved and mental matter, vision. Objective of reality.” Frankly, I don’t know what that means standing alone, and I certainly don’t know what it has to do with this depiction of the 10 of Swords. But I digress, but for creator’s intent, this is the deck that to me feels closest to a soul deck, because I really feel like I am having a conversation with it, and it is trying to be my friend. And finally, Superlunaris. This beautiful deck has become my workhorse in reading for other people, a spot previously occupied by Lightseers. This deck is easy to read, made even more so by the fact that it doesn’t engage in tokenism, but rather leans in to true diversity. When I turn cards over from this deck I see people I ride the elevator with, a real cross section of humanity.
Day 14 - #deckember21 - Temperance. Today’s card comes from @jonasajaus #thestunningtarot, the deck I am currently obsessed with, and the one I happen to have with me. I would say that of the cards in the Major Arcana, this is one of the more traditional artistic depictions. We have the angels, perched on clouds, the clouds appearing much like balancing scales, and we have the pouring liquid, white in the top bowl, purple in the receiving bowl - some kind of alchemy is taking place. These angels seem to be working together to get that perfect mixture. I had a second before we ran out the door to the movies, and I asked how West Side Story is going to be. I’d say hot and steamy. Edit: Not so hot or steamy. Everyone is strangely a bit neutered by their mitigating back stories. But, this card wasn’t wrong - it was just speaking to something else. Sharks, Jets, whatever, this movie belongs to the women, who all speak truth to power, even Maria, who expresses her own agency, albeit in Spanish - but I’m totally onboard with the no subtitles. There was no mystery as to what she was saying. And, again, the best thing about the movie was Rita Moreno. I thought her part was going to be a bit cameo, but its a totally realized supporting role. I’m waiting on a Judge’s decision in one case, I check the docket every day, and I have argument scheduled on a second on Tuesday that I should win. I think - the Lovers - it’s a good weekend to spend quality time with my husband, easy choice there. I have - 10 of Wands - a lot of crap I would like to just put down. And I feel - 5 of Coins - drained. Yep, I feel drained. Side note about the deck - I looked up the meanings of the cards in her guidebook after going with my gut instinct, and only the 10 of Wands is really off, and that’s ok. I’ve been stalking @jonasajaus website waiting for this Third Edition to come out ever since I saw this deck - over and over again - on Marine @thewavesofyoursoul #youtubechannel - she has a deep love for this deck, and whenever she says “and you know what deck I’m going to share next . . .” Its The Stunning Tarot. Every time. In her video today, she admitted that she has enabled many people to buy this deck, and she laughingly said she’s the fairy godmother of this deck. Thanks Marine!! It doesnt look like it, but its a #marseilledeck - the meanings of the cards and the artwork are inspired by #alexanderjodorowsky ‘s guidebook to the Tarot de Marseille. It’s feeling like an intuitive read to me, but we’ll see.
