DAY 131 🇺🇸 Today started with some light rain, but it cleared up soon, and we enjoyed nice weather. We began our day at Ana Te Pahu, a cave that is actually an empty lava tunnel. These tunnels were once used by the native Rapa Nui people as shelters, hideouts, and living quarters. They were also utilized for agriculture, as the land inside the cave is very fertile. Exploring this cave was quite the adventure, involving climbing and walking through its expanse. Next, we visited Ahu Akivi, an ahu located inland. Its seven moais face toward the ocean, which is unique for moais. This ahu is also astronomically aligned, adding to its distinctiveness. Afterward, we stopped by Puna Pau, a smaller crater known as the quarry for the scoria used to make the topknots for the moais. Our final destination was Tahai, which features three restored platforms. Later in the afternoon, we took a leisurely stroll to the island’s only city, Hanga Roa, and enjoyed a delightful coffee there. //🇭🇺 A mai nap is esősen indult, de hamar kiderült az ég, így élvezhettük a jó időt. Az Ana Te Pahu barlangnál kezdtük a napot, amely egy üres láva csatorna. A őslakos Rapa Nui emberek egykor menedéknek, búvóhelynek és lakásnak használták a barlangot, és mezőgazdasági tevékenységet is folytattak itt, ugyanis a barlangban igen termékeny a talaj. A barlang felfedezése jó kis kalandnak bizonyult. Innen a Ahu Akivihez mentünk, amely a sziget belsejében található. Hét moai található itt, amelyek az óceán felé néznek, amely egyedülálló, csakúgy mint a precíz csillagászati tájolás, amely szintén csak ezt azt ahut jellemzi. A következő állomás a Puna Pau volt, amely egy kisebb kráter, ahol a salakot bányászták a moaik haját szimbolizáló pukaokhoz. Innen a Tahaihoz mentünk, ahol három helyreállított platform található. Délután pedig besétáltunk a sziget egyetlen városába, Hanga Roába, ahol ittunk egy finom kávét.

Sunrise over on east coat at #tongariki there are 15 moai there, the largest group. And sunset at #tahai I’ve nicked these photos as I’m too lazy and scared to drive that side of the island in pitch darkness, the potholes are huge and deep and this visit I don’t have a jeep, I’d end up without wheels and with broken axles. When I was here first time in March 2020 I was driving up to see them when @Britishairways telephoned and rescued me as the borders were closing the following day. I know everyone seems to complain about them and I wasn’t a ggl then only gold but they pulled out all the stops and got me home. Many times during #covid I wished I’d been left here. But of course I had my dogs waiting.

Nachdem wir komplett waren, ging es dann zu unserem ersten Stopp, der Stätte #Tahai. Dieser Ort war von uns schon von Bord der 🚢 Marina aus zu sehen und stellte die ersten 🗿 #Moai dar, die wir nicht nur auf Photos gesehen haben. Moai sind die Steinfiguren, die sich überall auf der Insel finden und für welche die Osterinsel so berühmt ist. Die Stätte Tahai besitzt drei sogenannte #Ahu. Hierbei handelt es sich um die zeremonischen Plattformen, auf denen diese Moai-Statuen aufgestellt wurden.
